Hello all,

So I'm doing the Tsukuba 9h in a 'home-built' 300ZX, the premium one. My problem is the tyre wear balance, on RS tyres my rears can last roughly 12 laps, but the fronts wear too much by lap 7, so I came here to ask if anyone has any tips that'll help balance the wear so I could pit on lap 12 instead of 7... I should point out that I've never successfully made a custom suspension setup before, I mostly make things worse.

The car is fully upgraded with full custom everything, 1223kg and 654bhp. All I've done is increase the rear downforce to 20, set the gear ratios a fair bit closer than default so I get roughly halfway through 6th along the straight and increase the front and rear spring rates to 13kgf/mm. The brake bias is 8/2, ABS is set to 1 and everything else is off.

I'm trying the car on racing hards at the moment. It can just about keep the would-be leading Mine's BNR34 behind it, but the Fairlady has a little too much power for these tyres, meaning they spin up unless I'm very delicate on the throttle. That's fine now, but I won't be able to concentrate that hard for 9 hours, and if I'm only just ahead of the BNR34 in pace anyway...

On RS, the rears only spin up if I'm really trying, but (and this is the same with hards) the outside front tyre locks up on the three tight turns on the track (1, 3 and 5, depending on what you consider to be a turn). As 1 and 5 are right turns, this means the front left is getting a lot of abuse, and it is indeed the first to go.

So, can someone please help me out? Cheers guys!

(also, off topic, I have a spare Raybrig GT500 NSX to get rid of, add me if you want it)

Lol I may be able to help out with the tire wear, You're just giving away the raybrig? I'll take it off ur hands, LOL. I'll add you in a few hrs to help you out man, no worries.

Yeah, I don't need any cars in trade, so why not? It's still first come first serve though, so if you get beaten to the punch you're out of luck!

I've found that the extra laps don't make up for lack of pace on racing hards, I might be able to make enough time on softs so that I can pit twice or three times as often as AI cars; I fell behind a long way (30 seconds and last place on lap 15) but switched to softs and I'm into 2nd, maybe 5 seconds behind, on lap 22. Needing to pit soon, though... Starting to think the car is less than suitable right now, though, because the AI still hasn't pitted.

Could you reduce the front brake bias and add rear if you need too? High braking pressure gives more wear I noticed. And try putting harder tires on front?

Toe and camber are the biggest factors in tire wear, if the camber is wrong and you are using toe to balance the car the tires are going to suffer. Setting the camber correctly can be a very involved process so I would recommend my calculator (see my signature). Not always perfect but normally close.
