Tyre wear..

I have noticed something in my Spa 1 hour race today. A number of AI cars start the race on RMs, then pit after about 6 laps. They still have one third fuel and there was no rain. So their medium tires have worn apparently.
PD does not seem to have realised the speed of tire wear which their changes have caused. Otherwise they would have changed the AI tire strategies, which are now invalid. So my guess is they screwed up the change. I hope they will make some adjustments next update :guilty:
Also noticed this today. Although i have to say i got quite lucky and didn't get rain for the first 2/3th of the race. I did 2 stints on RH and both i had to pit at the end of the 8th lap. So on lap 8 and lap 16. Tires were not completely gone, but i started to really notice the lack of grip. I cannot compare to before because i simply just don't know how many laps i did pre-update 1.20. I'm playing with controller, TC 0 and was driving the Audi R8 on FM6.

What I do to counter the instability during braking is just tapping on the gas, somehow it works. Can be scary when it's veering left and right though lol
I think i have eliminated this phenomenon just about,i need to tickle the settings a bit more to completly stop it.I did manage to do 5 laps on RH but they were pretty much shot by the end of the lap, sadly i cant seem to improve the grip to preupdate levels though.Non wet tyres still lose grip almost completely when the rain gauge is ony 25%.Once i have fiddled i shall post what i did.

1.5 laps, GTFO :ouch::ouch::ouch:

Its not my fault your weather map is broken, AGAIN. So fix the damn tire wear already.

2 laps, ridiculous.

It's a 10x multiplier on tires in that race IIRC and the track is dry in those pics so it doesn't surprise me they only lasted 1 1/2 laps. I can barely get 2 when I've made a mistake and I will usually just pit after one if I see that I have.

A couple nights ago I ran that race with IM's in the rain for 3 laps and a fairly wet track for a 4th to take the finish. The tires may have still had another lap in them if I had to but I only had enough fuel for that last lap.

Pre-1.23 it wouldn’t have been a problem is my first point. The wear was pretty good after the first lap, which was why I stayed out for a 2nd lap. The 2nd point is that if the weather map weren’t broken again, I would’ve never been on them to begin with.

The weather radar is not broken. The scale has been changed so that the light blue is just smirry rain that you don't need to worry about.

But you still won.

Noted.

Barely, what that screen cap doesn’t show was P2 RIGHT behind me. L5 on IM’s pretty much evaporated my comfortable lead and when the RM’s melted in L7, the rest of my lead vanished.

Honestly, I was more upset that I didn’t get to run my FL on L7. That tune was really good and I wanted to see her full potential, alas, it is now on my stupidly long retest list.

I think you need to revisit your suspension and camber settings.I can get well over 3 laps in the Shelby Daytona,in fact unless i need to switch to inters i can pretty much get away with just the one pitting. This is pretty much across the cars i use for this race them being the afore mentioned,DB3s,Ferrari 250 Berlinetta,A220,D Type.I can get a one stopper in a dry race with the A220 and D Type.Basically i change tyres when fuelling.

I don’t build the tunes, I just test them! The Challenger is going to be hard on tires by nature, it just seems to me you ought to be able to get 2 laps out of IM/RM’s regardless of the vehicle and/or torque values.

....and back to my point, the race has a 10x multiplier for tires so yeah, they are going to wear way faster than they normally would and other negative factors (e.g. IMs on a dry course) are going to have a very exaggerated effect.

Personally, I like the changes they made to the damage, tires and weather. I also like that different cars have different characteristics including how tires wear. I get more satisfaction from the game when I'm able to tune or drive the car in way that works around any issues. It changes my pit strategy, how I set the fuel mixture, etc.

I will say though that the multiplier in this race is pretty harsh but I'm able to work around it. The rest I don't really don't (personally) have a problem with and actually like it better after the update.

Cracked the settings for the Alpine A220,tyre wear no longer an issue fuel is now the limiting factor, however i can get 5 laps on a tank on Le Mans as you can see below the tyre wear is negligable after 7 laps.
