Gamestop caught price gouging AGAIN! In case you didn't get it, back when Xenoblade Chronicles came out for the Wii, Gamestop, as a retailer, was caught price gouging by unwrapping the factory seal on some copies of the game and later selling the basically new copies as used, which was going for $90 USD at the time.

Why am I posting in this thread instead of a brand new one? Gamestop this time, is gouging the living hell out of Fallout 4's Pip-Boy Edition by adding on additional features that the gamers ultimately do not want. Here is the breakdown:

It is $119.99 for the base package (the Pip-Boy edition as sold by other retailers), then they add on a $29.99 season pass and a $39.99 strategy guide.

The strategy guide's price is very telling, especially considering the fact that Amazon sells the hardcover edition for half the price.

I really want to play Fallout 4, But I haven't played any game from the series other than the first one briefly, So I'm scared of getting it and don't understand parts of the story or references from the earlier games.

There is a video somewhere that outlines the whole lore in 5 mins or so.
But the prelude of FO4 should be enough to ground you into the world.

Only some of the game mechanics might be more of a mystery - maybe the manual might help

Pip-boy edition though, a bit more expensive :)

Well, I pick up my PS4 tomorrow and the game on Tuesday, so I'm ready to lose myself (and my social life with it) in the wonderful Fallout world once again. :)👍

One word of advice: if you don't want major plot spoilers, stay away from Youtube and the Steam forums these days. Some onbnoxious dicks around and very hard to find any decent topics without seeing major spoiler deliberately headlined in the thread title. Some people...

Something like that, yes. Not even sure if true, but I'm staying away from there just to be sure. ;)

FO series are even more disconnected in terms of story than TW3 (they're really all separate stories), so I think you will be just fine. 👍

Is the story important? I played TW3 with little background information and it didn't affect me. Simillar case here?

Not really. It definitely helps to know what happened in FO3 and NV since I imagine they'll reference those games. But beyond that each game takes place in their own storyline.

that's a relief, I'll give this game a proper go (almost gave up on TW3 but love it now).

It helps that the locations are so isolated from each other in the American wasteland. NV was set four years after FO3 and had very few direct references to the previous title, bar the odd joke or two.

I jumped into Fallout 3 with no prior knowledge or experience regarding the prior two games and felt entirely comfortable.

That said, in many cases, you get a free copy of FO3 bundled with FO4, so if this applies to you, you might just want to take a run through FO3 before you move up to the superior graphics, freedoms and gameplay of FO4.

FO3 is a great game, just as Oblivion is a great game, but it will be hard to go backwards. I tried to do Morrowind after Oblivion and just couldn't take it. If I'd done Morrowind first, I'm sure I'd have loved it.

I've played a bit of F3 and NV as well, but not more than 10 hours at most. I sort of get it but I'd prefer the characters and the story to be more interesting, the world is defintley amazing.

Is it possible to get through the stories of FO3 and FNV in 10 hours? Not for me, since I get all consumed by exploring the world, and turning over every rock. Maybe we look for a different pace of gameplay. I spent hundreds of hours in each, and was never bored. Not until I knew every crevice of the world, and had experience with the widest range of weapons.

So FO4 may not float your boat.

They are sandbox games, so you don't even need to worry about the main story, just do whatever you want, and even more so in FO4 with all the extra stuff you can do :)

And you are a vault survivor that emerges into the world, so whatever you know is pretty much what he/she knows

But some of the systems like hacking and the VATS targeting thing might need more sussing out. There is actually quite a bit of stuff in hacking that you will need to read a wiki for. Same for making good builds

Here is a nice build planner - and my build :)

Also MODS! My mods folder is 2x larger than the base game....

Nah didn't complete them, but watched my brother did, yeah my approach was wrong to the game, I'll approach F4 with an open mind.

The review embargo has been lifted! IGN has their review up now.

...Just read it. The reviewer was largely positive about it, but the issues of bugs did indeed crop up.

IGN's given it 9.5. Hmm.

All seem to be the same review. Excellent game, with bugs sometimes being an issue. Not new news to anyone that has played a Bethesda game. The review scores tend to be dictated by how many issues they had bug wise.

Im really love this game but unlike MGS5, which releases when im on holiday and having the budget, this has none of both.

Guess i have to come to my friends house for sake to play it.

Reviewers also mentioned FPS drops on consoles, I was watching DigitalFoundry's video on YouTube and both consoles struggled a bit and every now and again the Xbox One would pause completely. I hope Bethesda can fix some of the reported bugs and improve the frame rate to a solid 30 FPS on consoles like they promised.

PC master race you see. Not too much of a concern ;)
