Ok so I was able to sort out the issues I had with my triple screens in Assetto Corsa so I spent a bit of time enjoying it. It is amazing how a new wheel can make so much difference to my driving. For the better.

The wheel is so solid, smooth and fast that catching slides is now a breeze, just the confidence that gives you allows you to drive faster and more aggressive. The strength of the wheel now accurately gives a healthy amount of weight to the steering to let you know where the grip of the car is.

The effects through the wheel tie in perfectly with the vibration of the Simvibe as well. Over curbs the wheel has great feel.

Coupled with the triple screens I honestly like I've gone from a kids set up damn near the real thing.

The formula rim is perfect for the 12C GT3, even the shift lights are pretty much the same.

Awesome, awesome, awesome.

so I imagine you like Assetto over PCars and RFactor2

I'm in a bit of a dilemma which i prefer.. :boggled:
I don't have the opportunity to try Project Cars but I am really looking forward to it and have preordered the limited edition. I have tried rfactor too though and yeah AC beats it hands down in my opinion and the community for modding is awesome. I still have rfactor one which is good for some of the old content like V8 Supercars and my local tracks but it's definitely showing its age and I can't wait for AC versions of those mods to be worked on. The community is definitely with AC now.

IMO the Physics are pretty cut, paste and dried in comparing Pcars to Assetto.

I have the opportunity to try build 829 and 831 (i think) which im well aware is FAR behind their current development, But overall feeling of raw game physics and AC wins hands down. I can feel that "majical golden road" that Pcars is trying to keep you on, Graphics are Freeking AMAZING on Pcars, but overall doesn't make up for the lack of feeling it provides.

Raw data output is also a little sketchy when trying to FINE tune a profile i found.

I still find rFactor2 FFB to be the best, the GoKart is so addictive. But AC is not far behind and so easier to configure.

AC get nice graphics, nice UI, nice user friendly interface, nice cars and a very very nice physics engine. So for sure it is the most promising package for me.

Maybe time to check in with Fanatec support for a status update.

I sent off a few kind emails. I say a few because I sent a few to no reply lol. I truly want a proper functioning wheel base and do not want to rush any quick temp fix. I work retail parts at an auto dealer parts dept field and fully understand back orders. Sometimes a supplier delivers a sub standard component and all you can do is wait for them to return to specification manufacture.

That said, hell yes I am hating every day I am without my beloved CSW V2. :( I feel now like I should have just kept it over the holidays. Basically as of now it as been 10 working days if we really want to count.

Also, RE: Ford parts. I am only the moron at the end of the food chain. I have no control over who or where your part is made. All I can do, and all I seem to do all day is say sorry to people. So many recalls on so many models. Really though it is not just the company I work for. In today's field it is all manufactures. Name them all and they all buy from the same suppliers.

Also, also, Turbo Tax tells me I am earning less and less each year. So yes I am a bit bitter.

Also, also, also, I hear Australia actually respects easy going folks like me. Perhaps I can apply. No offence anyone. :)

Also, also, also, also, also, Good Times Friends. :)

OK I sent an E-mail on Jan. 13th asking for status on my RMA because I had not heard anything since I shipped it back to them Dec. 28. On Jan 14, whether it was related to my customer support question or coincidental, I got an E-mail with my RMA number and stated that my wheel had arrived at the warehouse. Then on the following day Jan 15, I got my shipping refund through Paypal, but I've seen no further updates. I would have thought based on the way the shipping cost refund works, they only do it when they accept that the damage is covered by warranty which seems to me that maybe the repair center has looked at my wheel and determined its issue and that it wasn't my fault and issued a shipping cost refund. I'm hopeful it will be shipped back to me sometime next week.

That was my understanding too, and yet another week has passed. I am not expecting a reply from my inquiry until next week, but as soon as I receive anything I'll update.

The other night my BMW rim was jammed on the base so tight that it took me a solid 10 sweaty minutes trying to get it off. Heaving on it as hard as I could, wiggling it, it was insane. I can't imagine it was any good for the wheel base's bearing or the wheel rim and I think I ended up bending a paddle shifter in the fight, which I have now.straightened. @Fanatec... I think this a serious issue that needs to be investigsted, it is going to cause some people injury and also damaged gear. I hope no premature bearing failure will come of the intense outward pressure on the shaft trying to get the wheel off.

Anyway I decided enough was enough so I decided to fix it. I had a look on the base and saw this:

I attributed the damage to a rough lip on the wheel rim's quick release - highlighted for clarity.

I decided to smooth them out. To do this I dismantled the wheel in order to remove the quick release then removed the outer sleeve and ball bearings. This is necessary or else metal filings will clog up the bearings. It is a bit of a pain to pull apart but definitely not hard.

I then smoothed it out with some fine grit sandpaper. It's probably best to use something a lot finer but I used what I had at hand. You can see how much smoother the edges look.

After cleaning it I test fitted just that part on to the shaft and it now slides on and off the base and locks in nice and neatly. I'll reassemble it tomorrow I just need to get some grease first for the ball bearings out of the quick release, some hot glue for the plug on the PCB I had to unplug, and I might give the inside of the quick release and also shaft of the base a bit of a polish up too.

Problem solved helpfully but perhaps Fanatec should be replacing all of the Quick Releases on their BMW rim's due to poor tolerances.

hey punk! do these problems also occur on v1 wheelbases

on my old v1 base my bmw rim fits in nicely. :)

I think the XBox One wheel will be announced in March. But will it be available? That's another question.

"Can you at least tell us if the xbox rim will support PC/PS3, or if i should buy another rim now?
If the answer is no I will buy a porsche 918 wheel."

I cannot confirm anything until the approval process is finished but is our target to make the XB1 steering wheels at least compatible to PC

@Punknoodle

I read on the iRacing forum that this is a common problem among some early model BMW and Formula rims not fitting correctly on the CSW v2 base. The tolerances are slightly different if I recall. I believe Thomas replied that Fanatec will replace the QR hub with a new style QR hub that fits correctly. You would have contact them for details on the replacement.

If you have access to the iRacing forum, let me know and I'll post the link to the thread.

I think there is some sort of PayPal service fee. Or maybe I misread it.

There should not be any paypal fees on refunds of services or products. I always get the full amount when its clear the object or service you bought is defective. Please consult the paypal help desk.

There use to be fees when transferring money through Paypal unless it was family or friends but I believe that has been changed recently, within the last 6 months or so, no more than a year.

Yeah friends and families are no fees to either party. Refund there should not be a fee to the consumer. That would be quite ridiculous.

You're probably right on refunds, I didn't think about that. That's probably why they tie it to a purchase transaction when they send the refund.

is there a clubsport wheel base v1/v2 tunings thread or would someone start one for wheel set ups for csb v1/v2 wheel rim set ups. i miss the when you could go to the fanatec sight were everone shared there wheel settings for there games and wheels. i am lost setting up my csb v2. had no problems setting up my gt2 ans csr wheels.

I have never seen a proper Fanatec wheel tuning thread. It is a good idea :)

I think there are a lot of settings on f-wheel.com

Edit: seems that all settings are quite old. No GT6 in games list nor CSW V2 in wheels list.

Honestly, keep everything at stock and turn off the dampener and spring. The only settings you should fiddle with are the in game ones. With certain cars, certain situations (drifting and rallying) the drift setting might be useful, but otherwise the above is best.
