Hi all..

I am awaiting delivery on my Fanatec DD1 for the Playstation4..
I forgot to order the emergencystop button..
So my 1st question is..do i really need one..?
My 2nd question is..because i have my drivingrig in my livingroom..
i am used to always disconnecting everything when i'm done driving..
to put everything aside/out of the way.. Will this be also possible with the DD1..?

Greetings.. Mr.J..

Hi Mr J,

The Kill Switch is optional because it is considered to be 'not essential'.

All of our wheel bases are powerful enough to potentially cause injury if used without care. Of course, the Podium Series bases are particularly powerful, and the Kill Switch can give you extra peace of mind (in addition to the other built-in safety options), but the situations where you might really want to quickly cut the force feedback are very rare. The Kill Switch is more regularly useful as a remote power button.

You can of course disconnect 'everything' after each session with any of our products, and the Podium wheel bases are no exception. I generally don't recommend temporary setups for the Podium bases because it is better to have a dedicated rig (they are stronger). But if you need a portable/foldable rig, then ideally you would fold it away without needing to disconnect 'everything'. If you are using just Fanatec equipment, everything should be connected directly to the wheel base, and therefore you should only have to unplug two cables: the USB and the mains power. You shouldn't need to unplug anything from the wheel base.

Hi Mr.D..

Thanks (again) for the quick reply and answers..! I do know all about the power of the Directdrive wheelbase..
And i don't intent to hang on to the wheel in case of a crash.. ;) So i guess for now i won't be needing the emergencystop button..

Regarding my drivingrig..no worries there.. I have a 2020 Simlab GT1 Evo cockpit..
I just don't have a dedicated gameroom yet..so when i'm done driving..
i disconnect (PS4 USB & main powersupply)..and move it to a corner of the livingroom..

Mr.B..while we're at it..i do have two more question.. I've been reading a lot about downloading drivers from the Fanalab website..
and i'm assuming (correct me if i'm wrong)..that is only relevant if you are a PC gamer..?
Last question..is the Fanatec CSL Elite P1 steeringwheel compatible with the DD1 Podium F1 PS4 edition wheelbase..?

Greetings.. Mr.J..

FanaLab is only available for PC, and is optional.

The Fanatec Driver package is required for operation on PC. If you need to update the firmware on any Fanatec product (which is recommended, even for use on console), this must be done via the Fanatec Driver on a Windows PC.

The CSL Elite P1 is compatible with all current Fanatec wheel bases. Because it uses a Simplified Quick Release, it is not possible to use High Torque Mode on the Podium wheel bases. When you attach the P1 to a Podium wheel base, it automatically detects the Simplified QR and will only run in Low Torque Mode (the same as not using the Torque Key). Low Torque Mode has a similar maximum torque output to the ClubSport Wheel Base V2.5, so it is still pretty strong, and very effective for the lightweight P1 wheel. If you are regularly switching between the P1 and a wheel that supports High Torque Mode, then you might want to use one of your Tuning Menu presets as the 'Low Torque preset', because you will likely want the FF setting much higher, perhaps at Max. I would also recommend switching to another preset, or ensure the FF is turned to the correct strength, before changing back to a wheel that supports High Torque. It can be quite a surprise if you forget that your wheel is set to Max.
