Very simple. Buy whichever one you think looks better.
Speaking of design the Podium concept for motor and electronics in a box seems old, from the time of the wheels with gears and belts. This makes the wheel base pretty big(which is a problem if you want to put your monitor closer or lower) and must necessarily to be cooling with a fan.
The SimuCube 2 design is more modern and makes the wheel base significantly more compact and more attractive to me. It also allows front mounting and there is no need for cooling with a fan.
I hope Fanatec will apply this design to CSW DD Base.

Just like the other DDs you can use any standalone shifter or pedal with a Podium DD and even use custom steering wheels (with USB cable) on our DDs.

On top of that you can directly connect the whole Fanatec eco system. This makes the Podium DD the most open, user friendly and compatible system out there.

Happy Easter, GT Planet Community :)

I am just sharing my opinion and research. The simucube looks the part and would be a great option if there was no podium DD. Its even less expensive then simucube. I also take into account the cost for peripherals and Fanatec just hits that sweetspot of price/quality. Not just trying to change your mind, I am genuinly just informing you of functions and features you might have overlooked. Its your money.
yes, and I appreciate this. I really do. Your comments are helpful.

I disagree. Each DD has its own features and ecosystem. Sometimes you overlook a feature and its only great that people in a forum like this want to inform eachother.
Agreed with this 100%. That is why I'm comparing the SC2 and the Podium DD. I'm not hyped by the Fanatec DD wheel and also not hyped about the SC2. I only want to keep my options open, gather information, read reviews when there are reviews and then decide if I should replace my G27 with a DD wheel.

I'm comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the Podium DD and the CS2. My question about the connections on the back of the base of the Podium DD wheel is not an advantage nor a disadvantage compared to the CS2 for me personally because I'm not interested in the Fanatec eco system and but is not an advantage or disadvantage of the CS2. If the connections on the Podium DD wheel was also for third party pedals, shifters, etc ... it would be another huge advantage of the Podium DD wheel over the CS2. But because the connection is only for the Fanatec ecosystem, it is not an advantage over the CS2 (for me personally).

What @PocketZeven said about the menu (you can change on the fly (I believe I saw on a youtube clip that you can changes wheels on the fly as well on the Podium DD wheel)) is for me a very big and huge advantage of the Fanatec over the SimuCube.

Also the upcoming paddle module for fanatec wheels is also a huge thing. It is metal vs 3d printed. Other option will run you maybe over € 1k to have an option of clutch paddles on your steering wheel. There maybe are cheaper options, but most are 3d printed.

Aha, that is what you meant in another post, stuff on the SC2 being more expensive compared to the Podium DD wheel. Good to know. Thanks.

Outrunner type motor always bigger size , she can give higher torque compare with inrunner type on the same power of watts

Btw , I am very interested on sc2 ultimate, everything tell me is a top notch stuff , and only compatible on PC , but I play console and PC , so I stick on dd1 PS4

Wow, just catching up on your guys post. I just wanted to say we are all building a larger sim racing community. It's a great thing let's not start fighting over here. It's good that there are other wheel bases available and options to choose from.

There are obviously going to be positives and negatives among products. Just be happy with your purchase.

And prepare to race against each other

I’m a little bit disappointed that the DD PS4 base is not sold separately. Because I already own a CSL ELITE PS4 BASE with a Clubsport formula carbon and the Clubsport Porsche Rim, there is no point for me to buy the bundle. (By the way I also don’t like the blue color Rim). Anybody know why the PS4 version only is sold as a bundle?

A eco system what force me to buy a new rim (what I not like and not need) when a new base is released makes no sense for me.

May be you can buy the PS4 dd1 wheelbase alone after a year , just like csl elite PS4

It does seem a strange decision. The only thing I can think is that it is a requirement of the licence from Sony.

I guess that they have to bundle everything in one package (ready to use)
They were able to exclude the pedals because now there is a mode for throttle and brake on the rim

I would certainly hope it will be. It's probably safe to say that Fanatec can't confirm that either the CSL Elite or the new Podium will work on the PS5 at this point in the game, simply because of the nature of Sony and their licensing agreements.

Logic would point us to surmise; why would Fanatec release such an awesome and expensive piece of hardware for a platform that will be old gen in the next 18 months or so?? Yes, it will work on PC too, but a lot of people buying the Podium for PS4 could care less about PC. They just want to spend their money wisely on their Playstation Eco System. Anyway, logic tells me it will probably be supported on the PS5, but then again, in business, logic sometimes does not prevail ;-) It's brown out the window entirely. LOL

I'm waiting to pull the trigger on one of these things. Mostly because I would like to know how much better the fidelity is compared to my CSW 2.0. Getting kind of tired of using a Drivehub to make my CSW 2.0 work with my favorite PS4 driving games =)

According to the new PS5 details released it will be backward compatible to ps4 peripherals (even the current PSVR). So I am assuming the PS4 DD will also support the PS5?? Can @DomB_Fanatec comment?

There’s simply no guarantee on that even with the backwards compatibility, the VR is a first party device so that’s not surprising but Sony will have to say no to money from licensing for third parties for it to work otherwise Fanatec will have to cough up the money, and even then it might only work on PS4 games on the PS5. We are just going to have to wait and see, it’s all on Sony and the licensing, not the compatibility as they can just block it and ask for money and Fanatec might not pay up.

Perhaps, but as a licensee just asking someone from Sony would clear it up. A simple yes or no is enough. Sony seem very open lately, seeing it is the leaddesigner who shared the specs of the new ps5. I dont see any reason to not give clarity to 3rd party peripheral manufacturers.

If that’s the case I don’t see why Fanatec wouldn’t shout about it from the roof tops. The fact they haven’t means it’s either not good news or no decision has been made. My guess is the latter.

you tested 4 things I wanted to compare in a feedback. I have the CSL ELITE with P1 and I am thinking of buying a new wheel, Mclaren Gt3 or F1. for photos I like F1 wheel more by the amount of buttons and extra feedback of vibration. Finally, my question is worth 3x the value of an Elite? My main game is the Gran Turismo Sport. Thank you and congratulations on the acquisition. good workouts and fun.

McLaren GT3 or F1? I like the F1 I have now more, but that's mostly because of the shifters. Also the built is definitely better on the F1 (no/minimal plastic, no creaking noises). I have no problems with the smaller size, although I do like the 300mm of the McLaren. I have not tried the McLaren wheel on the Podium yet, so that's saying something. :)

Is the Podium worth 3x the price of the CSL Elite? Very personal, but yes I think the price of the Podium is fair. It's a quality product in look and feel. Of course I have to see how it holds up over time, but my initial impressions are very positive. I played Assetto Corsa on PS4 today and it feels pretty amazing with this game. And the shifters... I now want magnetic shifters on all my wheels. :grumpy::D

I would gather that no decision has been made. At the same time, I'm willing to bet a decision either way is at least 18 months away from being able to be shout out from the roof tops. LOL

hello

i have the inverted pedals and the hand brake. not sure if i want the sifter.
if i get this https://www.fanatec.com/us-en/steer...net&utm_campaign=General+Links&a_aid=gtplanet

i like these to. when going into a corner and trying brake a grab a gear. the sifter paddles on the wheel are a bitch to get a hold of because they turn with the wheel
https://www.fanatec.com/us-en/wheel...net&utm_campaign=General+Links&a_aid=gtplanet

you just as well buy the wheel like this. the full kit right? theirs not ant advantages in buying the wheel universal hub and the wheel separate is there?

i should be good to go right?

thanks

Fan is for lower temperature. sc2 just like industrial motor.Although the motor did not affect, but the circuit board temperature is higher. we can see Fanatec dd 2 limit operating temperature is motor 58 and circuit board 78. Of course, it's hard to reach this temperature on a daily basis.

I mean DD level differences are hard to define. The simulator reference value is always close to reality.
Is sc2 U really better? What is evaluation criterion?
The end result is simply to feel the difference for the sake of the device difference.

So, buy what you like is best.

Good news!

I would like to know if when they say leave the warehouse, do they mean it is shipping from China to hq in Germany and that is the warehouse then it has to go to their different locations in USA, Japan and Australia and are distributed from there or is the warehouse in China where they are manufactured and then they go directly to the countries from there?

We already know the DD1 & 2's left China on a boat a while ago because the PS4 wheels where not manufactured in time to make the boat. They were subsequently shipped by air and arrived last week. So I think we can safely say what they mean by 'leave the warehouse' is leave the local distribution warehouse. So fingers crossed we should get our DD's around the 30 April.
