What rigs wouldn't be able to handle a direct drive wheel?

I assume by rig, you mean a full cockpit of some sort, and not an ironing board or a TV Dinner stand, correct?
My NextLevel rig has so much flex on the wheel plate, I'd never put a DD on it.

I am worried my rSeat Evo V2 won't be able to take it either, but I will see.
It has done me well until now. If I have to replace it, so be it.

I will go to alu profile if I do anything though, because that is something you can alter as time passes and the demands of sim equipment changes.

For example, even if you would build it with pure racing in mind. You could still alter it to suit flighing Sims and equipment. If you change hobbies or add a hobby.

What happened to those guys thinking there would be a big E3 reveal for co some gamers...

Anyway will be interesting to see what we get next month, I’m going to forget about it until then.

I used the Accuforce on mine, yeh it will let you but the amount of bounce and shaking off the whole front off the rig and the creaking . It’s not just the wheeldeck which as you know is pretty flimsy it’s the entire uprights too, I was worried it would eventually rip the whole top bar off and then I’d have a spinning rotor blade batter my legs!

I’ve now got a Sim Lab P1 and the difference not just in stability but the fidelity of forces you feel is great, you lose a surprising amount of detail when your rig isn’t solid.

That makes totally sense, what you wrote! I have also only a flimsy PLAYSEAT with a FANATEC CSL Elite, when I will upgrade later to a DD ( OSW or Fanatec Podium ) I am considering to buy a Sim Lab P1 aswell, it seems to be a nice rig.

Highly recommend it, compared to the NLR GT Ultimate rig it’s like 10/10 vs. 1/10, couldn’t believe how solid it was when all the reviews of the NLR said how stable it was.

I only just realized Sim Lab was a Dutch company just like Heusinkveld Engineering is one.

Yesterday I had a look at what shipping would cost of the p1 rig, but it was just 50/60 euro. Which is very good considering the weight, and if I had to pick it up myself it would cost me more than that in petrol.

Seems like a good choice if I want a rig upgrade. :)

I recently upgraded to a GT1 and can highly recommend Sim Lab. You should be good to go with the P1 or GT1.

Hey nice rig bud,

Can I ask what kind of screen you're running and whether the GT1 can be converted into something like a F1 style of driving?

Hey nice rig bud,

The screen is an iiyama 40" 4K Monitor https://iiyama.com/gl_en/products/prolite-x4071uhsu-b1/

The GT1 like any 80/20 aluminium profile rig is very configurable. The pedal deck can be moved up and down quite a bit as can the steering wheel deck. So as long as you had the correct style seat I don't see an issue with getting the required position for F1 style driving. However, the guys at Sim Lab are really good and will happily provide some extra profile or increase the length of some of the included profile to make sure you get your required position.

I think I would prefer the P1 because I could put my butt kickers on the inside without them sticking out above or outside of the lower frame profiles.

Although I would actually want to do a couple of adjustments to it, and hearing Sim Lab is willing to sell a couple of extra profiles... :)

The rear speaker mount and monitor mount are from an old Sim Lab triple monitor mount I had. 80/20 profile is great for making small adjustments yourself. You'll have a great time!!

I have no use for the speaker mounts, albeit that is a great solution and good way on recycling older bits.

I want to wait first what Fanatec comes up with and see if I can justify the DD upgrade in the first place, especially in terms of specs versus price with the emphasis on price.

Sorry I didn’t mean it as a solution for you. It was just an example of how the system can be tailored to each individual.

No need to be sorry. I understood that. If anyone is sorry than it's me. I should've worded that a bit differently.

It was definitely the reason why I said earlier (post #215 here) that I wanted to go with an "alu profile" type rig next. It's such great stuff that even when you'd quite the hobby (not thinking about it btw) you could still use it to make something else out of it. Whereas the rSeat I have now or things like Playseats you eiter have to sell or throw away because there is no other use for them.

80/20 or "Construction Profile" is really the 'Big Boys Lego' in my opinion.
I just wish I could get it in my local hardware store here in the Netherlands, just so I could more easily expand my rig with the stuff or use it for other things. Ease of access to materials is on the low side here.

Edit:
I was just thinking but does anyone have a home where the neighbors can hear you quite easily? If yes, than you'll know why I am asking the following.

You see, with buttkickers the problem is the obvious noise of vibrations is going into the floor and even more so than with normal audio. That plus banging gears, wheel FFB vibrations and being quick on the pedals isn't noise free either. Especially at night when everything is dead quiet this can be an issue. People want to sleep.

So... with a rig like the Sim Lab P1 or similar I wondered...
Has anyone ever tried to suspend the rig in a second lower frame?

Like with springs and such or hanging off of multiple standard style exhaust mounts for example. So that all vibration is contained within the inner frame. The frame you're sitting in.

I am basically wondering if it would be possible to do the reverse in a way as what Colin Chapman did with the twin chassis Lotus 88 F1 car.
There he wanted to disconnect or isolate the driver from the road, but in this case I want to isolate the simulated road from the rest of the world... as to not disturb neighbors or others in the house. Especially at night.

You can try this.

I had a noise problem with my drum kit, nothing worked. If you love your hobby just search for another flat

If only there was housing to spare. Emergency housing is already being constructed because of a lack of housing.
So that really isn't an option.

As far as I remember during Simracing Expo 2017 someone said that the Podium DD wheel has the same three mounting holes as the CSW Base.

I found it:

Supe, sidenote: Antoine helped me a great deal with some question I had back in November.

A good guy.

After watching the whole vid of this 30mn wheel, i just have a boner LOL
He tells the truth and all i want is a wheel what can deliver reallife forces with more then enough power in reserve.
Awesome :)
My personal first WOW moment was the change from g25 to t500, it was amazing how strong ect. The change to csl elite was just disappointing, but the change to the t-gt was again next lvl and wow moment, first time feeling what stall means. From t-gt back to t500 is like..wft. is it broken, why it feels light like nothing^^ The t-gt is like a free hit of heroin, you feel and know its good and you want more of the real deal. Only a dd wheel with lot of power can bring the full satisfaction, everything else is just ..... ;)

I am not sure Shaun Cole is even capable of lying when it comes to what he tells you about products.

He wouldn't be able to even go to bed at night if he ACCIDENTALLY told you that the height measurement on a set of pedals was 35 cm, but turned out to be 34 cm.
