Might be something to consider if my McLaren V2 wheel breaks, but it certainly won't replace it as long as it's working. I prefer the visuals of the McLaren much more to this.

Don't find L3 & R3 on the mapping of the wheel... where are these 2 PlayStation buttons?
They aren't there. The McLaren wheel doesn't have L2/R2 buttons either (but L3/R3). This is the same just with the buttons flipped, so L2/R2 are there but L3/R3 aren't. IMO the better choice since L2/R2 do have their use in menus sometimes.

Like the look of that. I've just ordered one.
OMG my first reaction to seeing this beautiful wheel was to also order it.... Like a cute puppy I couldn't ignore wanting to hold one

edit: haven't ordered anything from them since may2023 and website change is notable

No the better choice would have been to have all PlayStation buttons = L2/R2 + L3/R3 (unfortunately it's not the case, again 2 buttons are missing on PS5😩 ).

Same here. I've modded the shifters, stopped the annoying button rattle and have the metal QR2 so it's perfect for what I need.

Personally I don’t think it’s too expensive. Over 5 hundy AUS sure but I with the Porsche branding I thought it might fetch even higher. Looks cool. Obviously driven the car in game but to see it’s real world steering wheel in your hands is pretty freaking cool. Like the BMW, Bentley or WRC.

Obviously, but with the amount of buttons used, ditching L3/R3 is much better than ditching L2/R2

Here are some pictures of the aluminum frame and the magnetic shifters. :)

Would have been nice if they had put these on the back side of the wheel opposite L2/R2 - would it have cost that much more?

Overall feel mixed about it as I like the looks but as I play in VR mostly not sure if the value is there for me

This is such a bizarrely specific product. It only fits one car in one game, and not everyone likes that car on account of it being a virtual concept and not real (which is exactly why I think it's cool, but still)

Having such FOMO over here in the Logitech G Pro Camp. I own a Porsche and this Wheel Rim ticks all the right boxes for me. Maybe I’ll feel slightly different when My MOMO GT 290 Arrives next week nearly two months of waiting 🥲

Good review that one, nicely put together, concise and to the point. I've ordered one of these to replace my DD Pro wheel, I think it will be a nice upgrade. The 280mm GT DD Pro is just a bit small and game-controllery, I think this will be a nice step up for GT7.

Just ordered one, price is very good compared to what I paid for the last Porsche rim, it was £550 plus shipping for that one.

Working away all this week so hopefully it will arrive before I get back 😬

No Xbox compatibility (understandable, it's a Gran Turismo wheel) so I'll give this a miss.

I'm not sure the virtual bit matters. It's a Porkie branded wheel and a lot of people will love that.

I just think it looks amazing regardless of branding...I'm not huge into porche's but their real life GT3 and hypercars are actually top tier cars for me. For me it would be 100% perfect as a BMW branded wheel

As a VR player, I don't really care about the lack of shift or flag lights at all. The size, shape and button layout were verrrry appealing to me, especially the on-rim buttons (finally a good place for overtake/boost/nitrous buttons) and the two MFD options I actually adjust during a race (Fuel, brake bias) being in a super convenient spot is great too.

Mine arrived yesterday, feels fantastic. I also have the DD Extreme, Formula V2.5 and have experience with the DD Pro and McLaren GT3 V2. Shifters feel almost identical in snap and throw length to the Formula, which is a very good thing in my opinion. The alcantara style grip feels amazing. Honestly feels more similar to build quality of the Formula than the McLaren (which I felt was a bit cheap and plasticky).

I have a feeling this is going to replace the DD Extreme as my go-to, which I will keep for rally and older road car driving. Gotta have a round wheel. I think I will end up keeping the Formula too, as it is so much smaller and just has the raciest feel of the three. For stuff like Gr1, SuperFormula and Red Bull X2019 I like the smaller diameter so I can react a bit more quickly.

The wheel looks really solid and I love the grip shape. I’m using a CSL Elite now, so I’m curious how this one feels during longer races. How’s the button layout?

Mine came today. Overall I’m pleased. Love the look

Quality is a bit better than I was expecting. No issues w QR2 lite or flexing during driving w FF at 5/100 on DD+
Shifters are very nice
Buttons a bit tiny but solid feel. Layout is fine for me in VR
In wheel encoders a bit stiff but better than too loose like the Formula wheel. The bottom knobs are very nice but useless in GT7
Tactaris material is nice and comfortable
No issues w the web site - shipped right away

Would be great if PD provided some config support for it beyond the basics

a small update on the PV GT

I like it a lot for GT cars where using the fuel map/ brake bias/tc knobs are really handy during a race and the size is more appropriate compared to the Formula wheel

Less so w road cars where you won’t be using those functions and the round wheel feels more natural and immersive (except for the C8)

minor issues:

the display flickers massively in VR passthru so adjusting anything on the tuning menu is more of a pain than w other wheels

sometimes was getting some bounce on the side endcoders - when turning quickly might skip a spot, or even not move at all for a beat during a race. Couldn’t reproduce predictably while testing so might be load or some FW timing issue for Fanatec to sort…someday

flat screen users might miss the analog stick for r/l view - the funky switch is mapped default for that but i have that mapped to MFD for other wheels. With only one config available want it to work across all

Wheel specific (not wheel base) mappings, with saved custom configs, would be a HUGE convenience PD! I don’t want to remap buttons just to change a wheel on the fly

My wheel seemed to take an age to arrive but I got it last week. As my wheel was still on QR1, I had to also buy the QR2 base side, and I also bought a QR2 wheelside for one of my other wheels.

The QR2 base side was an easy fit so that was fine. The QR2 lite that was on the Porsche VGT wheel was not smooth in action and felt very "graunchy." Don't know if that was just mine or if that's what they feel like. As I had bought another QR2, I've put that on the Porsche wheel and it feels so much better. As that QR2 was supposed to go on my other wheel, that left me with a shortage, but more on that in another thread.

As to the wheel, it was exactly what I was looking for. I'm not overly fussed about Porsche or the VGT replica aspect, and as I use VR, I don't see the wheel anyway. The buttons all work fine and are close at hand, and easily found considering I can't see where they are. As noted by @RS60NR above, the rotary encoders are a bit stiff, but they work fine and will probably loosen up a bit. I find the gear levers need a bit of force and are a bit clicky, but function well enough.

All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase. The only issue was with the QR2 lite, which I've now replaced.

Having put in some real hours on this now, these sentiments have really just been reinforced. No new surprises or anything and now that I have some muscle memory for the button layout, this is 100% my go to wheel as a VR player. I think if this wheel looks good to you both aesthetically and on paper, you'll really love it. If you look at and don't see a button layout you love (or really need extra buttons to map stuff like horn, signals, wipers, etc. it is short on buttons for what I consider to be non-essentials) and the lack of lights/display is a downside, you should probably skip it.

I think this is ergonomically the best wheel for GT7, especially in VR where finding out of place buttons is a bit of feeling in the dark. Everything you want to use in races and menus is easily within a thumb press. Overall, very very happy.

My QR2 lite was a bit crunchy at first but seems to have worn in a bit and is now smoother. It works fine enough for me - plenty stiff if not as nice looking and did really not want to add more to the cost of the wheel. I feel a bit mixed about the cheaper knock offs as I’m not down on IP theft by these companies but Fanatec has kept the cost too high so I think it looses them goodwill on the whole QR2 transition

Another nice little feature - the std ps buttons - square, circle, triangle, X - are in the same arrangement as on the VR controllers so some added VR muscle memory

Speaking of QR2s, I hate the feeling of the lite and wanted a metal one, saw that there are some 3rd party ones out there that come in colors and I went with a red one to match the details on this wheel. It matches PERFECTLY. So happy with it. Feels much better. The lite is so much larger in diameter too...
