Like the look of that. I've just ordered one. This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:
Fanatec Porsche Vision GT Wheel Review
Fanatec has just lifted the covers off the Fanatec CSL Elite Steering Wheel Porsche Vision GT, and we’ve got our hands on one for a full review...
They aren't there. The McLaren wheel doesn't have L2/R2 buttons either (but L3/R3). This is the same just with the buttons flipped, so L2/R2 are there but L3/R3 aren't. IMO the better choice since L2/R2 do have their use in menus sometimes.Don't find L3 & R3 on the mapping of the wheel... where are these 2 PlayStation buttons?
OMG my first reaction to seeing this beautiful wheel was to also order it.... Like a cute puppy I couldn't ignore wanting to hold oneLike the look of that. I've just ordered one.
No the better choice would have been to have all PlayStation buttons = L2/R2 + L3/R3 (unfortunately it's not the case, again 2 buttons are missing on PS5😩 ).They aren't there. Same here. I've modded the shifters, stopped the annoying button rattle and have the metal QR2 so it's perfect for what I need.Might be something to consider if my McLaren V2 wheel breaks, but it certainly won't replace it as long as it's working. I prefer the visuals of the McLaren much more to this.
Obviously, but with the amount of buttons used, ditching L3/R3 is much better than ditching L2/R2No the better choice would have been to have all PlayStation buttons = L2/R2 + L3/R3 (unfortunately it's not the case, again 2 buttons are missing on PS5😩 ).
Would have been nice if they had put these on the back side of the wheel opposite L2/R2 - would it have cost that much more?Don't find L3 & R3 on the mapping of the wheel... where are these 2 PlayStation buttons?
I'm not sure the virtual bit matters. It's a Porkie branded wheel and a lot of people will love that. This is such a bizarrely specific product. It only fits one car in one game, and not everyone likes that car on account of it being a virtual concept and not real (which is exactly why I think it's cool, but still)
I just think it looks amazing regardless of branding...I'm not huge into porche's but their real life GT3 and hypercars are actually top tier cars for me. For me it would be 100% perfect as a BMW branded wheelI'm not sure the virtual bit matters. It's a Porkie branded wheel and a lot of people will love that.
Having put in some real hours on this now, these sentiments have really just been reinforced. No new surprises or anything and now that I have some muscle memory for the button layout, this is 100% my go to wheel as a VR player. I think if this wheel looks good to you both aesthetically and on paper, you'll really love it. If you look at and don't see a button layout you love (or really need extra buttons to map stuff like horn, signals, wipers, etc. it is short on buttons for what I consider to be non-essentials) and the lack of lights/display is a downside, you should probably skip it.As a VR player, I don't really care about the lack of shift or flag lights at all. The size, shape and button layout were verrrry appealing to me, especially the on-rim buttons (finally a good place for overtake/boost/nitrous buttons) and the two MFD options I actually adjust during a race (Fuel, brake bias) being in a super convenient spot is great too.
Mine arrived yesterday, feels fantastic. I also have the DD Extreme, Formula V2.5 and have experience with the DD Pro and McLaren GT3 V2. Shifters feel almost identical in snap and throw length to the Formula, which is a very good thing in my opinion. The alcantara style grip feels amazing. Honestly feels more similar to build quality of the Formula than the McLaren (which I felt was a bit cheap and plasticky).
I have a feeling this is going to replace the DD Extreme as my go-to, which I will keep for rally and older road car driving. Gotta have a round wheel. I think I will end up keeping the Formula too, as it is so much smaller and just has the raciest feel of the three. For stuff like Gr1, SuperFormula and Red Bull X2019 I like the smaller diameter so I can react a bit more quickly.
My QR2 lite was a bit crunchy at first but seems to have worn in a bit and is now smoother. It works fine enough for me - plenty stiff if not as nice looking and did really not want to add more to the cost of the wheel. I feel a bit mixed about the cheaper knock offs as I’m not down on IP theft by these companies but Fanatec has kept the cost too high so I think it looses them goodwill on the whole QR2 transitionThe QR2 lite that was on the Porsche VGT wheel was not smooth in action and felt very "graunchy." Don't know if that was just mine or if that's what they feel like. As I had bought another QR2, I've put that on the Porsche wheel and it feels so much better. As that QR2 was supposed to go on my other wheel, that left me with a shortage, but more on that in another thread.
