I'm in the market for a wheel in anticipation of GT5, I've selled on the Fanatec GT3RSV2 clubsport wheel and will use it with the rennsport stand.

However I've not yet decided whether to buy the shifter - how is the quality and has anyone used it with the rennsport stand, is it stable?

I know a clubsport shifter is set to be released, but that probably won't be available until Q2 2011, not sure if I'd want to wait that long. Thanks.

I'm using it with Rennsport wheel stand and I would recommend you to buy one. It may not be the best product in the world, but it is a good shifter and works flawlessly. Its only downside is the clicking noise it makes. It has good resistance and it's precise.
And if you decide to buy one, I don't think you need to buy the extra shifter holder - in my opinion rods that come with the shifter are adequate - rather buy an extra game or something for that money.

In other words. You have to make a decision, how much a manual shifter means to you. If it means a lot, you'll probably have to buy it, because we don't really know much about the release date of the Clubsport shifter. We haven't even seen prototypes, so it's anyone's guess when will it be for sale...and you probably don't want to wait for more than half a year for it.

When you say I don't need to buy the extra shifter holder, are you referring to this: http://www.fanatec.de/webshop/new_usa/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=40&osCsid=37319622330e02c7772ded0fd94e91e6

I had been under the impression it was necessary to use the shifter, but nice to know that's not the case.

As long as it works properly and doesn't feel like it's going to fly off of the rennsport mount, I think I'll be fine with it. I have two MT cars and couldn't live without my third pedal, so playing GT5 without a clutch would really take away from the experience.

Yes, I'm referring to this product. Check out my video review of GT3 RS V2 in which you can see my shifting (without the optional shifter holder) and decide for yourself.

I actually stumbled across that review last night, great editing. Shifting looked stable and positive. I'll be ordering the wheel, rennsport stand and shifter today, thanks for your help.

Hi, you don't need the shifter attachment, but its well more rigid, especially if your a bit heavy handed.
Don't know if its changed, but few months ago when i bought(UK) Wheel, CSP's, Shifter, Shifter Attachment, Rennsport Stand, Pedal stop. Beneficial to buy all at once ie P & P 20 Euros for the lot. Think its same 20 Euros, for each order, so builds up.

Cheers BOB

...Then why don't you buy it now... lol

Good thinking UK gamer!

The shipping for the shifter set is almost as much as it was for v2 and clubsport combo! 17$ usd just for shipping.

But i really want the shifter so I just ordered it.

Can I use the H shifter and some how map the sequential shifter as an E brake!? That would be great.

That would take rewiring the seq shifter to become a Circle, Square, X or whatever you want your handbrake to be.

I read a post from fanatec that you can't hook up two shifters at once. I don't remember the entire post so that's all that I remember.

So I ordered it, wheel and stand shipped out today.. but I won't receive the shifter I ordered until end of october.. hopefully it shows up before GT5!

Agree - Optional Shifter mount is MUCH more rigid then the provided twin bars.
