Sorry, I still have my PS3 copy loaned out...

Here's a new video that I just uploaded showing my hands on the wheel while racing my favorite FIA GT3 car around BRNO:

Be sure to check out the 1:46 mark :sly:

How can you get steering lock further on GT2 with CSP than 270 on the xbox? I can only get to 270 steering lock.....(in game i mean)

HOLD ON HERE GUYS,

This setting which now is fantastic Im sure is NOT for the GT2 wheel, definitely. For reasons unknown I have only had the possibility on the 360 to increase the steering response beyond 270 in-game. Sometimes I did manage to "unlock" this option. Dont ask me how I did it though.

GT2 issues still exist with the 360 version of shift2

I have finally dialed in my Fanatec Wheel with Shift 2 (XBOX) where it works great now for all of my cars - including high powered cars!

I get smooth, predictable steering through straights with no sway and I can easily feather the throttle through turns now.

Here's a video showing how controllable an FIA GT1 car is in a race with my settings:

Fanatec Wheel Settings:

  • SEN 900
  • FFB 100
  • SHO 30
  • DRI 003
  • ABS 085
  • LIN 000
  • DEA 010
  • SPR 0
  • DPR 0

Glad to see that these settings are working out well for everyone - thanks for the feedback!

I can select from 0-900 Steering Lock - see picture below taken directly from advanced controller menu in XBOX Shift 2

I also verified that these same setting work great for me on the PC version as well - I'll upload a new video of the Triple Screen Magic later today!

Thought i would post the settings that i have decided on. Tried out a few settings from this forum and eventually used a combo of a couple of tunes. I find this setting most similar to my GT5 feel for the cars. Tight, responsive steering with lots of feedback and strong ABS. These settings were done using GT2 & CS pedals on Xbox...

Fanatec GT2 Wheel Settings:

SEN 450
FFB 100
SHO 100
DRI OFF
ABS 050
LIN 000
DEA 010
SPR 0
DPR 0

In Game Settings:

Vibration Strength 100%
Steering deadzone 0%
Steering Sensitivity 50%
Throttle Deadzone 0%
Throttle Sensitivity 20%
Brake Deadzone 0%
Brake Sensitivity 35%
Clutch Deadzone 0%
Clutch Sensitivity 50%
Speed Sensitivity 50 %
Speed Sensitivity Drift 60%
Steering lock 450
Steering Lock Drift 450

im now on the xbox version too 👍

i started with Raudi settings which were good but found I could:

SEN : 900
FFB: 80
SHO: 80
DEA : 0
DRI : 2
ABS : 85
SPR: 0
DPR: 0

In game:
throttle & brake sensitivty 0% !
others as before...

im think throttle & brake sens seem to not be required on CS pedals, as they have long travel and good feel anyways, and i think 0 is linear
(but to be honest, the variation between 0 and 100, is not huge, unlikely steering sens!)

@tlm, using 450 on wheel and game, do you find you need to alter 'stock' car steering lock in tuning? ... i prefer not to, as you are unable to tune when using 'loaner cars'

I have only altered a couple of cars steering and not by more than 2 or 3. By using 450 on the wheel and in the game i find i don't have to turn the wheel as much, thus the feeling is a little tighter and more responsive. I have seriously spent hours trying all these settings and even extremes like 270 in game and on wheel. It mainly comes down to how much you like to turn the wheel to achieve a full simulated "360 degree" turn.... worth trying a few for personal preference though
P.S favourite car so far is the Mitsubishi Evo IX M-R edition.... a bit of tweaking and a few upgrades makes a big difference :)👍

I have the same issue with the pwts it only allows me to go up to 270 for steering lock. How are you getting yours to go beyond that?

Do you have the wheel set to Sens = 900?

What firmware version do you have installed on your PWTS? (mine is 681)

PC version of Shift 2 will not remember in game steering lock setting (Defaults to 100 - bug?) it always feels like it is 900 Degrees, so I ended up using 450 Degrees set on the wheel and added 10% Linearity to get it to feel comparable to my XBOX settings.

I need to try this. It's hard to recommend this gsme to friends because of the lag. Now someone is saying that simply lowering tire pressure by 5 pounds or so, greatly helps "feel". It baffles me why a developer would ship a product with such fudged up default settings!!!

Great feedback every one- we're on the way to pinpointing our issues and more importantly helping each other out.

I would like to ask though that any one posting a message clearly states which wheel he is using and on which platform at the start of his message. This would seriously help things.

I am now reading that someone has the GT2 on the 360 and is able to dial in the wheel beyond 270. How is this done, what does the settings menu look like, etc etc... Others like me are still not able to dial beyond 270 with a gt2 wheel; I managed it once or twice but its a mystery why this option became available on those few occasions.

Continue the feedback all

TLM you seem to be able to set the GT2 on the 360 to beyond 270 degrees. How do you do this????? Also do you use the 6 speed shifter???

Hey Raudi nice vids! Hey how do u have 3 monitors hooked up? Do you have two 590 video cards or can one 590 card power 3 screens? I'm personally using the 560 ti. I have 2 dvi ports and 1 hdmi. But I'm assuming I would need 2 video cards to power 3 screens or can i just use 1 card?

Unfortunately, with Nvidia video cards you have to have SLI to get Triple Screen support. The 590 is basically SLI on 1 card so it works with just 1 - it has 3 DVI connectors + 1 Display port.

It's worth mentioning that SLI is not supported with Shift 2 yet and AA kills the perfomance! So I'm only getting equivalent performance of 1 GTX 570 currently.....~40-50fps @ 6040x1080 with NO AA enabled.

@ Raudi - great settings fella I've been struggling to set my wheel up to make this game playable and yours work well for me.

I am still having one issue and wondered if anyone else has experience similar...

I use a Turbo S with clubsport pedals which is hooked up to the PS3 via a USB cable. Frequently I find that when I brake the car doesn't slow at all, there's also no deceleration and it's like the accelerator is stuck (even though the pedal is fully released - I tried it with my right foot in the air!) or connection between the console and wheel has been lost (car just goes straight on, steering doesn't even respond until too late). I don't think it's an issue with my wheel and pedals as I don't have any issues with other games on the PS3 or Xbox for that matter. The issue occurs when braking both at low speed and high speed and is totally ruining any enjoyment I could derive from the game.

I've found that setting in-game brake sensitivity to 100% is a reasonable workaround as the issue occurs less at this setting, but still all too frequently (every 2 or 3 races).

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Anyone have any good settings for the Turbo S on the PS3? Also, I keep hearing how "loose" the steering feels on S2U...does the DPR setting in firmware 681 allow you dial in some constant feedback to tighten up the feel?

Unfortunately, the fanatec wheels have broken ffb on the ps3 :(
(there are quite a few complaints / threads out on the Internet about this)

I have a pwts with cs pedals, tried the ps3 version connected via USB and had all sorts of ffb drop outs.
I then bought the 360 version, and it's absolutely fine.
(best settings I got on ps3 was to turn ffb right down , 30%, so that when then ffb drops out it's not as distracting, and doesnt jolt the wheel)

Officially SMS dropped support for fanatec wheels on the ps3 (only) just before release. we can only hope that they will fix this in the upcoming patch, but there is no word on this yet.

Good video Raudi. Do you use "Steering Asist"? Watching your hands, it seems that the car sometimes does not correlate exactly to your movements, mostly on counter-steering. Also, there seems to be a "very slight" lag to your hand movements and car reaction - does this feel like game lag or car physics lag?
Anyway, your video does seem to indicate good control. I will have to give your settings a try.

I use Elite mode with ABS + Best line (no steering assist)

There is a slight input lag but I am used to it now and adjusted my driving style to account for it intuitively so that I don't even notice it when I'm racing.

With Traction control set to low, the experience is "GRID LIKE" and a blast to race online, especially on the tight city tracks!

I gave up on the PS3 version for now and have a copy of the 360 to install tonight. I rarely use the 360 so I have no online friends for Autolog...hope nobody minds but I sent some friend requests to people in this thread.

Hoping to finally enjoy this game with my Fanatec PWTS tonight!

To get the fanatec wheel to go beyond the 270 steering lock in the game you have to do the following. The game has a bug where if you boot it up initially with the wheel already booted up it reads it as the microsoft wheel so don't do like fanatec said and boot the wheel from the xbox dashboard. Instead first make sure your wheel input is set to 900 degrees then turn the wheel off and back on but DO NOT put it in x box mode just leave it with the red dashes across the display. Next fire up shift 2 unleashed (I do this by opening and closing the disc tray) once the game is up put the wheel in x box mode and then when you go to the settings for the wheel you will have the ability to tune it up to 900 degrees in the game. I found this out by watching insidesimracings vid on shift 2 that was recently posted.

This is why I stopped using my GT3rs, went back to DS3 or HKS. And the lag, of course :(

Really like Raudi's video, left a comment. I think overcoming lag is attributed to, primarily, track knowledge. Something I don't have with most of Shift's tracks :(

Note: Check your settings from time to time as I have seen some of my changes revert back to defaults!

Since I have different customized setups saved on my wheel, I have found that if I launch Shift 2 with the wheel set to anything other than 900 Degrees sensitivity - some of the settings change in game and I get the 270 max lock!

I also start a quick race and drive through a few turns and over rumble strips to test that my FFB is working properly and pause / unpause the game if it's not to get it going (sometimes I have to also power off/on the wheel also). Once the FFB is working properly in quick race I can then go to career or online and have no FFB issues or dropouts for my gaming session.
