Dear All, Please head to Belgium and try Pauwel Kwak. This is currently my favourite beer and I picked a few up when I was in Belgium at the start of May. People think it is a bit gimmicky because of the glass it is served in, but I'd happily drink it out of a mug.

Also, the Rochefort beers are well worth a try too!

Agreed, I was recently in Brugge, Belgium and the local beer, Brugse Zot (blond), was one of the best beers Ive tasted in a while. Went to the brewery and drank my butt off.. Definitely one to try when you are in that area or if you can get your hands on it at a specialty store.

Blitz187, this is another of my favourite beers (I have an affinity with Belgium). De Halve Maan brewery is always one of the places I visit in Brugge. If you visit again take a trip to 't brugs beertje on Kemelstraat. Nice pub, hundreds of beers and the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable, not to mention multi-lingual.

Anyone in UK head into Tesco now! Greene King are doing a selection of 8 Ales for £8 - BARGAIN!

Here are some of them:

Old speckled, old golden, old crafty and abbot were some of my favourite's in the selection.

Why are so many UK beers bottled in those awful clear bottles? And especially pales and milds, which are the most prone to damage from being light-struck.

I’ve logged >800 different beers, so uh choosing a favorite would be difficult. Some of my favorites would be Hess Ex Umbris, Firestone Walker Parabola, Goose Island King Henry, Alpine Hoppy Birthday, Alpine Exponential Hoppiness, Ballast Point Indra Kunindra, Stone Punishment, Societe Pupil…

Sage, I'm glad to see you're back.

Have you had this year's release of the Parabola? What do you think of it?

I'm not too sure think it's to do with the appearance. They come inside a crate though so you can store em in a cupboard or something.

Ah strongbow. Its the only thing I drink on a night out pint after pint of strongbow. But I consider it like an average cider nothing special about it. Have you ever tried that cheap stuff in Aldi called tarus? after 2 cans of that I woke up feeling sick the next morning its a horrible cider

Yup, they sell better in clear bottles because you can see the pretty colours.

MarinaDiamandis - Thought so 👍

BlueMoon - Ended up have seven cans of Strongbow whilst watching the football, I'm regretting it now...

I wouldn't dare buy any unknown ciders with the name Tarus, especially from Aldi.

Yup, on draft and in bottles. :) Great as ever. I don’t understand why KBS and CBS are rated higher – I definitely prefer Parabola. It’s probably my single favorite BA stout.

Thanks for the explanation for gut rot.

I've noticed that if one does consume excessive amount of alcohol, it can do something a bit weird with the digestive process, but not to that extent!

Anyhow, I mainly drink Bulmers or Magners. I've noticed that Bulmers are rather foamy so if I'm at the pub, I'll go for a Magners as its not as foamy. Bulmers are more for home.

Although I've had some draft Aspalls. Wow, that was well nice. Although can only have the occasional ones, as that does have a hidden punch if one isn't careful.

Scrumpy Jacks by their cans is alright, although its not the best. Only to be used if there isn't anything better.

Strongbow is to be avoided at all times. If there's nothing else at the bar/pub, then I'll ask for a Cider Black (blackcurrent cordial and SB). If they don't have that.... Amaretto mixed in. Yeah, Strongbow is that bad.

I haven't got the taste for any beers, although I did like one particular Belgium fruit beer, something like Kriek framboise stuff. However, not been able to find it since... *sad face*

Friend told me about this cider he liked. I ended up getting a six pack of it. Delicious. One of the seasons tasted just like apples. Don't remember the name of it. though. :ouch:

As for beer, I usually buy Coors, but I won't turn down a Bud Lime.

Also a big fan of liquor, but let's not get into that. :sly:

Sage - Have you had any of the brand Dogfish Head brews? Look at this one it's a 15-20% IPA!
I started counting how many different DFH brews I’ve had and lost count at somewhere around 17–18… But yeah I’ve had 120 Minute on draft a couple times (bottles don’t come out to the west coast). I love it fresh, hate it when it has even a few months on it.

The 120 minute IPA looks deadly I wouldn't dear to have more than two bottles

Been drinking this lately whenever I can find it:

£1.25 in my local before I moved last week and yet to find anywhere here in Reading that has it. Caffreys Irish Ale in aluminium bottles.

After my visit to Brugge I have started appreciating the Belgian beers a lot more. I definitely see myself heading out there again as its not that far from me :) So next time I will definitely check that pub, thanks for the info! 👍

Bit of a thread revival but currently I'm drinking this stuff. Its super strong at over 8%!!! But its got a good taste and its on offer at Morrisons lol

Favorite? Definitely...

Three Floyds Brewery, Munster Indiana (south of Chicago into Indiana slightly). Gumballhead is Magnificent! Don't drink cider much, but Gin and Tonic? Preferably Tanqueray... Oh yes indeed.

Three Floyds is a small, regional Midwestern brewery that has quite a following, no longer a hush hush underground thing. One beer, "Dark Lord" is sold one day per year. Better get there early!!
