I'll be going to my own vintage festival next weekend, which is unfortunate in that case.

Maybe I'll post up some interesting cars too for the thread's comment. :sly:

Here's some from today.

Nah, not me. I still have a full head of hair!

So, is anyone interested in rescheduling the Monza races from Saturday? The only feasible option would be earlier in the day this Saturday, maybe 1 or 2pm EDT. If enough people are interested I can do that.

According to reports the wastegate was jammed closed and overboosting, the team radioed Blundell to tell him to pit and not bother with the lap but he pulled the comms plug and went for it. He ended up taking pole by over 6 seconds!

He said "For about 50 percent of the lap I felt like I was on the verge of a massive accident." So I would presume the car was less of a handful in race trim.

This is Blundell? I remember him from footwork when I was a kid I think. What a drive, I like having your old racing footage/stories posted heat 👍.

VBR
I don't remember seeing that option in GT Auto!

It's only available at the Hawaii-spec GT Auto, has to be imported (which requires stacks of paperwork). And it can only be installed by mechanics named Higgins.

I'll get that off there's since we're into the 458 this week. Been outta town, haven't had time to update the OP or pick the next car. We'll likely be in the F40, just need to find a suitable circuit.

Just in case you haven't had time to test it yourself, @BrandonW77 , the Italia can't do 30 minutes at 'fast' fuel/tyre consumption -- I ran out of petrol coming off of Tetre Rouge on my 7th lap, and the leaders will almost certainly get 8 laps in with a 30 minute race.

Also, I seem to recall you mentioning the possibility of night racing. I hope I'm not just conjuring false memories. A full 24 hour cycle in the second race would be :censored:ing sweet. 👍👍👍

Thanks for the heads up, we'll run fuel wear at normal, unless you guys want to do a pitstop to add to the Le Mans atmosphere. And yes, I plan on some night racing, first race will go light to dark and the second one will start in the dark and end in light. :sly:

Boy, the F40 is homicidal. I don't remember it being this maniacal when I drove it last week. Tried several tracks and would spin on almost every lap, even on SS. But on Motegi full it actually gets around ok but I think we'll still need SS. It's possible on SM but once they start to wear it gets real sketchy real quick.

But a pit stop in the 30 minute race doesn't seem to make much sense.

It doesn't always have to make sense, it just has to be fun. :P I don't think we'll do a stop though, but we could do Fast wear for the first race and Normal for the second. I found some time change setting that will give us a nice transition from light to dark. (If we did a 45 minute race the time change would have to be so fast that it would only take half a lap to transition.)

This 458 is very fast. After a few laps I'm in the 4'05s, which is GT category race car territory. These SM tires are very quick, you sure we shouldn't use CM tires instead?

As long as the playing field is level, and within realistic levels of everybodys ability to manage the car... I'd be happy with whatever is decided.

However, I think its maybe a bit late in the day to change the tyre option. Others could have worked hard on their lines, breaking points etc on the defined tyre, changing the tyre will have an effect on that!

Me personnaly, i'm yet to turn a lap and there is more time for me to practise for Saturday, but then that still does not mean others can!

My vote would be to stick as it is, and encourage the faster guys to run lower grip tyres! ;)

The first part is virtually impossible with stock one-make racing, but I do try my best to make the second part happen. I try to make sure the guys at the back still have fun and thus keep showing up on the grid. The fast guys will be fast and at the front regardless, and choosing lesser tires will just extend the gap between the front and back of the grid which is the opposite of what I want.

No the players are never level, but the playing Field can be... (same car, tyres, restrictions etc.) That was my implied meaning above! 👍

That's basically what I was getting at. But the desired result is rarely achieved (at least from my point of view or at least not in Gran Turismo).
