You got to remember, when the japanese think of something, they usually relate it to the earth, so just think of that when you come to some conclusion on a japanese past time, and you usually will make sense with that.

Usually their use of simple elements will be backed by extensive math, physics and sometimes even chemistry equations also.

(Earth...fire...wind...water...HEART! :irked:

Ouch. )

Honestly this is a stupid argument. Its been done to death, even I know this, and I'm the most thick headed person here, I'd put money on it. FF is not drifting accoding to 90% of the peopls. Can we leave it at that?

NO, it is not drifting. I want everyone on GTP to refer to it as Rear Sliding. Not Ass-dragging.

REAR SLIDING????? isnt that what u do when u drift with an rwd???????
i would think so!!!!
anyways, my vids DONE! i need to know where and how to host it!!!
im not very web smart, so if u guys wanna see this, please help me host it!!!! and trust me, its worth it. it will show you that "ass dragging" isnt really what u think it is;)

Yeah, it is what I think it is. FF sliding. Not cool. And no, Ass Sliding is NOT drifting. :P

but dont you think that its at least worth taking a look at?? you give credit to the 4wd drifters!!! yet u cant do that special kind of sideways control drift in a 4wd with out the use of the front wheel power!!! 50-50 i would think...

anyways i did this vid just to show the gt community that i have mastered all aspects of drift...rwd 4wd and now fwd, thers just not too much respect goin out to the ff....i used to HATE and DISPISE fwd cars....but i realised that every kind of car has its own capabilities of driving.....and FF drift IS actually pretty cool. even if you dont wanna see it or accept it for what it is in the game (if not in real life as well) im sure there are many ppl on this forum that would.:)

An FF Drift is slow at cornering...
the only way i know that you can drift a FF is if you use the handbrake, even then thats the cheap way to drift

yes but in the technique i use i AM using full throttle control to get my car through the corner. im not relyin on momentum alone..as most of you would suspect.

Ah, now I know what the video will look like. Tire softness should be a major factor, with E-brake only used when the rear tires are trying to correct themselves. That's understandable.

You can drift in AWD. The throttle affects understeer/oversteer in an AWD, as do the brakes, so a balance can be achieved. FWD is the only car that doesn't fit the bill. FWD isn't for drifting, it's for gripping or using slight slip angles. Anything else is just exhibition, like doing donuts or something.

Well, as far as AWD is concerned, yes power is going to the front, but power is also going to the back, meaning the power can be used to break traction using inertia, sure the inertia will decrease but the lack of traction remains. In a FF car, since it lacks power, once the inertia drops, the grip is there instantaniously, which doesn't constitute drifting.

Vitz is the best :D no need for ebrake... but yeah... in real life people wouldnt classify FWD cars as drifting probably ass drag or sumthing but even in japan where there are pro FWD drifterz they still get look down... why cant we all just get along...

**holding hands and singing the song "Why cant we just get along"**

I have to agree with perg and his many posts... its a shame that i missed out on this arguement and that i too am loosing interest in this forum...

Anyways the reason y ff cars cannot drift and in general suck at everything (including going fast) is due to physics...Power is distributed only to the front wheels. This results in the front approaching the limit of its traction p rior to the rear wheels whenever acceleration is wished... hence understeer results and in order to continue driving on a track the throttle must be lifted off... The reason why most companies have relied on a ff layout is becuase such understeer allows for a predictable and relatively safe driving car ( you can feel when you need to let off the throttle). Left foot braking and similar techniques allow the ff car to remain on an ideal path without loosing much speed when used properly... but when ebrakes are used or excessive braking is used to break traction and skid... a little showy drift may occur but speed will not result... it just isnt possible... The entire theory behind an ff car is that the front wheels control both acceleration and steering inputs... braking still affects all wheels ( as long as four wheel discs are in play). Unlike conventional systems like rear wheel drive... oversteer is impossible from the car's power and can only be achieved by agressive turn ins and/or e brakes. AWD systems are usually around 30/70 or 40/60... very rarely are they symetrical front and rear distributions... But anyways awd is set up to give added stability while not completely destroying a cars inert ability to handle... not to mention that the car will be able to distribute more power to the ground without breakiung traction and in all likely hood at least one wheel will always be within the limits of traction under normal driving... awd understeers when driven as if a rear wheel drive car, but without the need of an ebrake it will oversteer and drift will be initiated... due to the power given to teh front wheels countersteering is not needed in the extent that it is with rear wheel drive vehicles... This is purely because the traction used by the front wheels while countersteering is already used by the front wheel spinning...(in a sense at least)...

I guess the reason why we will never get along is because from a sport point o f view ff is limited... it forces all responsibility on the front wheels rather than all four wheels as is done in rear or four wheel drive...

The only ff i relatively respect is the corrado... and it is widely known as the only well performing ff... the mazda six is also a bit intriguing...

so much more can be done with a rear or four wheel vehicle on tarmac...

The stability found in ff vehicles while inferior to the capabilities of awd is still useful on dirt... By stability i mean understeer...

Understeer sucks

See that's the advantage of FWD. They may not be the best at anything, but they're pretty good at everything, a FF's top speed would "theoretically" be better than an AWD cars, if anyone bothered to put a decent engine in there. A FF rallys better than RWD, a FF road races damn on par with alot of AWD and RWD cars.....watch the speed channel for that proof......see what I mean?...

But a well built and light rear wheel drive car with low center of grav and low polar moment will always out perform all awd and ff cars on tarmac... awd will always outshine other layouts in acceleration and low traction conditions... and ff will always be teh cheapest route to a "stable" and therfor a safe vehicle layout for general driving...

ff is a good street car... many have the ability to hold their own on skid pads, but no ff will ever be engineered that can out perform a mr of similar weight and quality... rear wheel drive on tarmac is so much more flexible than ff... you have to give me htat shinez...

btw its nice to see you back with a semi real name...

You = crazy....this name isn't real...What I want is SHINEZ back....this name is retarded....

IS THERE ANY CHANCE I CAN GET MY SHINEZ NAME UN BANNED SO I CAN USE THAT INSTEAD OF THIS CRAPPY NAME?
