it doesnt matter what everyone says, but i still like FF, FR, 4WD drifting, as long as i like it, i dont expect people to like it with me. But very good info.

ha ok back to the original skiing and snowboarding analogy.
OK...
Skiing is like FR drifting, its been around for a while and its the original right. Now lets say FF drifting is snowboarding. New, yes? And nope its not the original.
But..... and yes there is more to this argument.
although fundementally not the same. They both invole the same thing. going down a mountain, or in this case getting sideways.
And just like in drifting, Snowboarders got hassled like crazy when they started usin the same mountains as skiers. There is only 1 problem to this argument tho. the ration of FF drifters to FR drifters will never be as big as the skier to snowboarder ratio. Im just saying that in my own odd little reasoning FF drifting in a way is a legit form of drifting. Im not saying its as good. Not nearly. But it is still legit and should be atleast (if not anything else) respected.
and thats my 2 cents

NO you got it wrong lancer evo 5...

i do not have time for this at the moment but it is more correct to compare snowboarding and skiing to drifting and racing... Further more i board and i am never hassled by skiers... except when they are being their stereotypical pain in the ass...

Anyways... the ff layout is limited by physics not by other peoples respect for those that choose to drift it... ff will never shine as rear or 4 wheel drivetrains will... ff is merely a safe and cheap way for car manufacturers to design the majority of road going cars on market today for its inert stability under cornering... nothing more nothing less... basically its insurance that stupid people will have a harder time doing stupid things in them...

FF doesn't drift...leave it at that...it Ass slides or Ass drags or Slides ass or whatever that non "agressive" term we were going to use was....

Jesus people need to read sometimes note how in my response it says snowboarders got hassled when they STARTED using the same mountains as skiiers
I dont think snowboarding just started now did it
no hard feelings just read and infer.

basically what that response meant was if someone can do a legit drift in an ff ( not just pulling the e-brake and praying) i think they should get some respect
anyways wasnt there some guy in a civic that placed really well in some driftin comp. forget which 1 tho.
it was on the drifting.com forums
and yes ff's r really limited ny physics and r almost always the layout for econo cars. But if its limited by physics and someone still pulls a legit drift then shouldnt they get respect for being hindered by ff and still pulling it.

Who's talking about respect? You're taking it way too personal. We're just saying it's not drifting, that's all. My reference to the skiing/snowboarding thing was not to be taken so deeply either. I just meant that although the two revolve around the same basic idea, they are not the same thing. Drifting and FF sliding are two very similar ideas, but they too are not the same.

Sorry saw started but it didnt register...
doesnt change what i said...

i just felt like addingsomething...
To me exhibition drifting is a growth from real racing... The latter is control at the limit of grip and exhibition is control past this limit. I do not really know why i am saying this, but i dunerstand fr and awd drifts simply because they teach you important lessons about traction and the control on or pas the limit of this commodity... When it comes to ff drifting however... no such knowledge is gained... It is simply pointless prolonged oversteer... This is the root of my (ummmm) comtempt with the world of ff "drifting"...

I agree that FR/4wd drifts do teach EXCEPTIONAL driving skill and how one can surpass the limits of "normal" driving. But what if the driver has learned those limits and boundries? Shouldn't a relatively good drifter be allowed to "powerslide" a FF car and get the same kudos as the FR he just drifted in the previous shot of his vid??
just asking.......
