Pre-Season Race 1
Today is the day! We can finally get the season going. I didn't expect everyone to show up for the pre-season races, but so far we have 11 PRO drivers and 13 AM drivers confirmed for todays race. I know some of the PRO drivers have other commitments in the CORE WEC today, (this should be the only time the two series' clash), so a good turnout is on the cards!
It might only be a pre-season race, but I would like to see the same level of driving standards as I expect to see in the main season. No penalties will be applied in the pre-season races, but you may receive a mark against your name, which the stewards will take note of come the main season.
Last season, the main issue drivers had was Pit Entries and Exits. Please, please, please can you do your best to avoid crossing the merger lines. It's not difficult, so don't do it!
I don't need to say anything about avoidable contact, be careful. It's an endurance race not a sprint!
Rage quitting is a big no-no. I don't want to see anyone doing it. If you have had enough of the race, due to lack of pace, or mistakes, then please return to the pits safely and remain there for 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes, you may quit the race, but please remain in the lobby until the end of the race.
Using text box or voice chat during races is prohibited. If you have to leave due to an un-expected complication, then please do so without disrupting the race for others. Send a message to myself here on GTPlanet as soon as possible stating why you had to leave.
If you disconnect from the room, the simple answer is tough. Last season we red-flagged races for DC's, and it wasn't popular amongst the other drivers. So this season, we won't be doing it, except if someone DC's on the opening lap, in which a full restart will take place. If you DC before 60% race distance, then you
will not be classified as a finisher. If you DC after 60% you
will be classified.
Track limits are defined by the white lines at the edge of the track. Curbing and run-off is not classified as part of the track, if you have all 4 wheels outside the track, please lift off the throttle to relinquish any advantage you may have gained.
Please make sure you have read through both sets of rules:
Not being aware of a rule is not a valid excuse!
One final note on the race today. Enjoy it, don't get too worked up about it, at the end of the day it is just a pre-season race. Today is about learning your car and fellow competitors in a race environment. Good luck everyone!
