No I'm not very mad, I just want good sportmanship. I couldn't hear you before race very well because we had some hassle in our house. But also Montalvo didn't know about it so I figured we should talk about it.
Hey Pamp,
I can understand where you are coming from
I'd like to say:
Rhyfe and I discussed this after last weekends race , and we figured that instead of having to watch a 1h20m replay ~ 10 times to make sure no one cut the chicanes, and hand out penalties accordingly, that we would let game handle the penalty system.
I am all for following the OLR rules to a 'T', but that usually alienates people when trying to get a series off the ground
I also clearly mentioned multiple times before the race that no penalties would be handed down for corner cutting, and that we would let the built in system hand out the penalties.
This also allowed all players to push the limits and find out how far they could cut.
I understand that it is not ideal, but neither is watching over 13 hours of replays just to hand out penalties... Rhyfe and myself are the only marshals, so even if we split the load halfway, its still at least 6 hours of replay checking
per race, and at over a dozen races... i dont think either of us want to devote over 3 full days of our lives to checking the replays of an online series for fun
For next season, I suggest we switch to the other Sarthe layout, as I believe sand is much more prominent and makes any cutting nearly impossible.
Season 2 will see stricter regulations and marshalling, but for season 1, we just want to get through it without ruling with an iron fist while keeping everyone on even ground.
Rhyfe and I have taken note of this, and will double our efforts at letting participants know any rule modifications / omittance for upcoming races.
Hope this works for you!
PS: Rhyfe, had a look at the first few laps of the race from multiple peoples views, and didnt see penalty worthy activity.
However, I do want to point out: FloodMeister, regardless of you getting lapped / race almost over / ghost car, you shouldnt be swerving back and forth below speed while you see someone coming up fast behind you. keep to one side of the road and respect the other drivers by staying put - eventhough you were a ghostcar, swerving back and forth like that serves no real purpose other than trying to distract the closing car.
Not penalty worthy, but perhaps warning worthy
