Same, and Ive seen lots of threads breaking the rules all the time by double posting, dont see them getting warnings. And yeh I dont like room too much either, I find the track just doesnt have enough grip so you end up sliding wide into the walls

Yeah and people can wall ride if they make mistakes. 👎 Its not like trial mountain (another small track) where you cant make mistakes yet its small and fictional. Rome needs to be like Deep Forest/ TM. They could do it for GT5 but they'll probably do it for GT7 or something.

It's an okay track, but too short, with too few corners and the corners that are there are really awkward, like the 4th corner.
The barrier juts out so you can't take the ideal racing line, so you have to chuck the car in and like you said Spurgy there is hardly any grip so the car just slides.

Rome is going to be an ok race for me, nothing more though. Its one of those where if you get away early your onto a winner because breaking away from a drafting car is tough here and you get locked into a battle. Its one of the downsides to having strong draft but the upside is it keeps groups together and helps produce tight racing.

Race Report:

Rome is the FGT equivalent that Bristol Motor speedway is in Nascar. Its fast but way to small & compact to suit the race.

Starting out the group stayed together until most pitted and I waited until 20 or so for my 2 stop strategy. I was now off sync with no drafting, just driving on my own.

Eventually the race boiled down to spurgey vs me with spurgey fresh tires catching me up with about 8 laps remaining. Pagey was a lap down somehow, and started racing me hard on track like he wanted to screw my race up with spurgey. Eventually I got fed up and left him behind, only for him to catch back up again at the end. I probably could have stayed in Spurgey's draft anyhow, but the medium tires to my displeasure had virtually the same life span as the softs with simply less grip. It made sense though to save them for the end seeing as how thats the lowest fuel point in the race.

I made 2 mistakes that likely cost me the race, but at the end of the day I dont feel that Rome counts as a normal track or race really. Its too oval like and vastly diff from almost all the tracks we do.

Race report:
1st race and really quite annoyed with one particular driver.

The start was good for me, i went from 2nd to 3rd but i was racing hard and staying with the top 2. But then one particular driver was racing too aggressive for me, he got in my draft and then when he saw a gap he piled his car in and made it wider by pushing me off the racing line

I stayed with them though despite this mishap and pitted 3 seconds behind. The second stint was good at first but my tyres went off really quickly and could barely make them last 15 laps.
So i pitted again and put on mediums, which were awful, i set some fairly fast laps with them but i then made a mistake and the back end was sliding for a good 50 metres, which killed them.
So for the next 7 laps i was in ultra tyre save mode and was doing 48s.
I pitted again for what i believed would be the last time but i had messed up and pitted 5 laps before i should, and i knew i couldnt do 20 laps on a set so i had to pit again

I came out a lap down and i let spurgy through, sat back and watched him overtake mustard on the first corner, it was an awesome move 👍

So i was sat behind mustard with ellis who was in 5th was about 7 seconds up the road.
Plus i was about a second a lap faster than mustard so i decided to try and unlap myself so i could hunt down ellis and gain another place.
I went past but messed up the last corner so he went by again.
I waited a lap as far as i know and i tried going past on the back straight but mustard wasnt having any of it and tried pitting me. Its no surprise but i was behind him again.
I tried overtaking him again but he blocked me and put me in the wall.
Both incidents i think ETID saw (who was behind us)
I have no idea why he was so against me getting past
I was pretty angry.
I stuck on his back end but then he went really wide on the last corner onto the green section and cut back in, so i slammed on the brakes to avoid an accident. (so much for you getting fed up and leaving me behind eh mustard )

But after just 2 laps i was on the back of him, and just to make my point of the speed distance between us i overtook him on the back straight and pulled out 2 seconds over 2 corners.

Good start to the season??.........i think not

Just realised i think this was my joint worst finish in the FGTC

Mustard- Thanks for the report. I feel that Rome is one of the poorer tracks in the season but good enough to warrant inclusion (not too much choice in GT5 for a long season) It also provides a bit of a change from the big circuits 👍

Etid- It was a pretty good race man, I was relieved with 4th as my pace was not great here. Suzuka next my worst circuit but hoping to catch up after that

Pagey- Nice report mate, ill look into the incidents as usual. Poor start for you but the season is young and Rome doesnt suit your (or my) driving style.

Great first race to the season for me, first stint was great with the top 5 drivers all fighting for position, after that my race wasnt too exciting, just spent my time trying to gain a pitstop on mustard, which I did so im happy Unlucky Pagey, thought something must have happened.
Brett, Im looking over the replay now seen as I have some spare time, Ill report any incidents I see, oh and it was lap 48 corner 3, im not too fussed about it, was a bit frustrating but he did wait 👍

Well A race I rather enjoyed. Started well. And the first 10 laps batle is below (excuse the audio & this fuzzy line I can't remember how to get rid off ). Spot the incidents that happened. On my first corner it looks like I hit ferg on the entry but on asking I did not


Through the race I found that my tyres were lasting forever. So after my 17 lap stint. I went a bit hardcore and did a 23 lap stint on softs. Went well. Nothing much happened to be honest. Pitted lap 40 and put on some mediums. From there I did a 35 lap stint to the end of the race. Not too shabby. I knew pagey would catch and after letting sprugey past I just sat behind him until the end. Congrats Spurgey and a great start to the season for Caterham

OP updated, fastest laps/steward report pending. Rankings still have some retired drivers in but they are pretty much there and I have changed the way they work so they will be very dynamic early on 👍

Pagey you were right at the Quali, i was supposed to be second lol, brett put my lap down as a 47.7 (my first lap) but my second lap was a 47.4! . i knew i was second..
