My strategy will depend heavily on how I do in the quali session. If I qualify towards the back I think I'll go for a no-stopper on mediums. My laptimes on mediums is not so much slower than my laptime on softs, so I'm hoping to then cruise up the field as other people pit.

If I qualify in the top half of the grid I'll probably do a one-stopper soft/med, hoping to open up a gap to those behind who might be on a no-stopper (or get past those ahead who are on a no-stopper).

I did 3 custom races this weekend to test out pit strategies, and here is how they turned out for me. For reference, my current best free practice time is 1:22.855 and I am using the Lexus. I had myself start in 12th for each race:

No Stop - 36:44 with FL of 1:24.526
1 -Stop - 36:26 with FL of 1:23.708 - I did 18 laps on softs and then 7 on mediums. This may have been a little faster if I had stopped sooner, but I wanted to see just how far I could go on softs.
2 - Stop - 36:30 with FL of 1:23.001 - I did 1M/12S/12S - This was surprisingly only a few seconds slower than 1-stop and was more fun because I had really good grip for the ENTIRE race.

I did a No-stop for the Vette vs. Cayman race that we had previously. I don't remember what the tire multipliers were for that race, but this one feels different to me. I can go much further on the softs this time.

I'm leaning toward going 1-stop for the race (maybe 15S / 10M), but if I qualify poorly then I may go with the 2 stop.

Again, had to take my own advice and quit playing Ride 4 at least 24 hours before a FIA race. Maybe there is the super aliens who can just jump off a bike and steer a car to absurd lap times. I’m not one of them.

I think strategy-wise, I’m just going to go with the field. If the guys ahead pit, I’ll probably go a lap further then pit. But if I’m leading, I’m going to try to just extend the gap and ride with what I have.

This looks like it'll be a fun race, but I doubt I'll be able to participate in it since I have a research paper due on Friday and an exam next week. Good luck to everyone who'll be taking part!

That Mazda driver that kept bump drafting you in the first race was the same one that took me out at Goodwood. Not sure what their deal is.

Probably just another completely oblivious driver, I've been finding that lately, a lot of drivers seem completely oblivious to how the game works/their surroundings.

I really might consider the 2-stop now that you point that out. I really don't like the softs past 12 laps. I was thinking of biting the bullet and doing a 12S/13M because of the pit loss but if the 2-stop can actually be viable...

PD make me laugh. When I first saw the car, I thought in no way is it just the 962C.

Those that did the Group C Daily, found the R92CP to be the META for outright speed. With the chicanes, the 962C has a chance. The C9 also comes into play.
787B is good allround. No torque, but fuel and handling are good.

So I went for Manu as I seem to get a solid result here half the time. Got door 10, started p4 after feeling like I couldn't nail a lap but somehow put a solid one together. Turn 1 we bunch and I tap the guy in front slightly. He starts to gather it and then spins between the 2 corners from cold tires.

About lap 9 or so I am just a second behind p2 and they end up doing donuts down the corkscrew. Nice, but coming to the final turn p1 runs off! I get the lead with a 2 second gap back. I hold it with a gap going up and down from 0.3 to 1.5 until I pit end of lap 16. They pit next lap and I have gained time, back to 1.8. Then on lap 20 or 21 I just look at the dog while tired as I am exiting that banked left to start the uphill run.:odd::dunce:

I drift wide and they pass me. I manage to get it back to 0.6 a couple of times, including at the finish, but they get the win, I bring it home p2. Still a good result, but would have been nice to finish the job.

On to running laps of Le Sarthe to get ready for a big Saturday night.:D

Keep it tidy out there and have fun:gtpflag::cheers:👍

Good race without any mistakes! Qualified 5th starting on Softs. First lap I got passed instantly at T1 by the Aston behind lunging. Turns out that the Aston driver had decided he was going to sabotage people races from the start. No idea why but just smashed off the two cars in front of me picking up 6 seconds of penalties. I made sure I stayed behind him until her served it next lap as he would no doubt have taken me off too if I tried to pass.
The leader pitted end of lap 1 so was doing a 1M/24S! I sat in second for most the race, pitting for Mediums on lap 18. The pole setter who pitted went back through to lead and win.

I don’t really like to grass on others but this is the Aston driver out to ruin races. Just a warning to anyone who might end up in their lobby!

Well tonight's race was certainly full of action. Was grouped with @adokeeffe again this week.

Got a great lap in during Qualifying and manged to avoid the Turn 2 chaos. However the Peugeot driver in our group was extremely aggressive early on, with a dive bomb into Turn 5 tapping a Porsche wide, who in turn returned serve at The Corkscrew.

A couple of laps in whilst running in 4th and well within sight of the leaders, said Peugeot made a mistake out of The Corkscrew and decided that I wasn't allowed to pass him around the outside on the run down to Rainey Curve, pushing me off the track and handing me a penalty in the process.

After that it was simply a matter of setting consistent laps as my strategy was thrown out the window and the off track combined with the penalty meant that @adokeeffe and the Merc he was battling with took off into the distance.

Overall happy with the finishing position as I crossed in 4th, but it could've been so much more if not for amateur driving from the Peugeot and then being held up in traffic fighting back through.

First time racing in a 300pt lobby... those guys were much faster than I expected and only qualified at p13

Nothing special happened except wait for the guys at the front to make mistakes. Came back at p7

The race was so intense even I didn’t have any overtake... sweaty as hell now gotta go take a shower again lol

Was just in a split with that Aston driver. I was slow enough that I didn’t tangle with him but boy was there some anger in the post race. Obviously decided to troll this evening. Peanut!

That's a one and done for me.

Started P5, could've made it to P4 if I'd managed my final qualifying lap better. We got away clean through T1 and I immediately got a 1s gap to P6 that kept opening up slowly but surely. I had a great 8-9 lap battle with a green RSR in front of me and had no real threat from behind. Eventually the RSR made a mistake and I was able to pass it and started closing the gap to P3. I'd managed to get it down by 1 second when I screwed up T3 and spun out letting three cars go past me.

I managed to get out on track directly behind the third of those cars though so I was back in the fight. The car in front was another RSR and I was trying to find a gap to get through when he screwed up the right-hander in the run up to the corkscrew which let me get alongside him on the outside. I didn't think he'd try to outbrake me into that corner so I went as late as I could and was already turning in when he came shooting past me on the left and I tagged him. If I hadn't he would've gone straight through and overshot the corner, so in hindsight I should have gone for a cutback after he went off. But, he stayed on track (ahead of me) and even though I got a 1s penalty I didn't lose any positions over it. I pitted on lap 18 even though my pace was still good, and managed to come out ahead of the guy following me and overtook two cars who pitted after me.

So now it was lap 21 and I was P5 again with that RSR I tagged just in front of me, and on lap 24 he screwed up the final corner bad enough that I could get a clean run up the inside to pass him and then it was just a matter of bringing it home to land a P4 finish for 82 points.

My best position and points for this season so far, I only stand to lose if I go again :)

Manufacturer Series Round 9
As much as I love Laguna Seca, it doesn't half give me some crazy nerves whenever it pops up in FIA. I've got a good handle for how to get good lap times on the track, but I'm a bit clumsy when it comes to consistency. I hit those murderous bumps on the apexes or put my foot down just a little too early and wind up taking an excursion through the gravel more frequently than I'd like.

I was in with @xxPinkyKissxx for this one, and I think we've got some more data on the rear mirror jinx. If I start behind her, I've currently got a 100% record of binning it or being punted by someone. Stay out of view of the rear mirrors however... and apparently I'm fine?

I set a 1:21.072 in qualifying which was good enough for P5. The pole sitter must be a new account, so much faster than everyone else with a 1:20.138. (P2 had a 1:20.847.)

I managed to hold it together and stay on the track for the whole thing with only some minor near-misses. The Mercedes who started on P2 began on Mediums and I think that was their downfall because they lost a lot of positions from the pressure being applied by the BMW, Audi and me behind and then pitted on top of that so it wasn't even a no-stop. I gained another position when the Audi went wide heading up the hill and then lost control through the corkscrew, presumably from the dirty tyres.

I then stayed there for the rest of the race, pitting at the end of lap 18 for Mediums.

P3, 156 points. :D Best result of the season, and some big points that I desperately need to keep my dreams of an EMEA Mitsubishi Top 10 finish alive!

God those high split races are hectic. Thought I did an ok qualification (1:20.2) but that only got me 14th (0.66 off pole, but don't think I have much more pace in me tbh). Started on mediums and ran until lap 8 and pitted for softs. Ended up picking up a couple of silly corner cut penalties, that probably dropped me into trouble, but was ok until lap 21 when I caught a group of guys and got stuck.

Then the guys ahead had a minor squabble and I got a lucky break

Ended up 8th in a strong lobby, so pretty happy. Have to say that the Lexus Gr.3 car feels very good to me so will be interesting who picks it next season.

Well, shamefully lost my cool in the lobby after the race. Apologies @Zorz saw you messaged just as i pressed exit so didn't see what you wrote.

So yes, was in with @Zorz again and as he says, escaped my mirror jinx! Qualified 14th which was disappointing but expected so opted for Mediums. Made up a couple of spots early on with people losing it on the corkscrew and settled into a nice rhythm. Was driving pretty solidly and pitted lap 7 for Softs in 11th place. Drove without making any mistakes and had caught up to the mid pack which was positions 7-10. Was having a really good race. Moved into 9th and was on the tail of 8th for a while. Then lap 22, 10th made a move at T1 and then decided to ease me off into the gravel on exit which really pissed me off. There was no need for it. Fell back to 11th, had dirty tires and struggled to keep it on the road for the next couple of corners, losing another position. Last lap, got pushed off at the chicane and then 2 corners later at the final turn, got punted off into the dirt by someone else. Finished 15th. Lost my temper. :guilty:

I regret picking Honda. After failing to string 3 clean sectors together, I propped up the grid and started on mediums before pitting at the end of L2. The car felt way better on mediums, but unfortunately if I wanted to get any further up the grid, I had to use the softs too. After pitting a second time for another set of softs at the end of L13, I managed to drag it home to 14th, just a second off a pair of warring Porsches, digital reminders of what I could've picked, and how I could've made things so much less sweaty for myself. :grumpy:

Entered the 2nd slot, low B S, qualified last, lap times were very close, but I wasn't quite in the zone. Opted for no stopper, nothing to lose except the feeling in my fingers, ha. Ran a conservative race, others fell off track or pitted, ran clean consistent laps, up to P11 on the final lap. Just followed the racing line & let others through all race, sure someone passed me 3-4 times
Finished P12, would have been P13 but someone tried too hard in the wrong place on the last shot at the corkscrew to pull off a clean 1.
1 & done, practice time for Le Sarthe beckons 👍

one and done for me tonight, it was all going to be about whether I could keep daddy Aston on the dancefloor for 25 laps!

Managed to qualify fourth (I expected to be way lower) so started on the softs, 3rd place went wide heading up the hill and slid back on, juuuust nudging me off line enough to make the corkscrew really awkward, and putting me wide on the sand into the following left, managed to hold it straight for a net loss or 2 places to 6th. Had a guy/girl in a Peugeot brake SUPER early into the last corner next lap so unfortunately gave them a nudge into the sandbox (completely unintentional, but i still feel bad), then outbraked a Porsche into the left hander heading up the hill, they tried to take it at full speed and spun. 3rd pitted so i was running in 3rd until my pit stop on lap 20 where I selected mediums (or so i thought) but to my horror i must have pressed down slightly so, no tyre change selected! after some very choice language i left the pits 3rd with a Mercedes up my exhaust pipe. I let him through as obviously i had to pit again. After pit stop 2 (no drama this time) I came out a comfortable fourth and stayed there to the end.

I feel like I could have challenged for third on fresh rubber if i'd not made a horlicks of my pit stop, but I could just as easily thrown it in the gravel, so all in all I'll take it! highest points tally for the season to boot :-)

happy hunting everyone!

Qualified mid pack, the Chevrolet doesn't like corners so having to brake early and slow in fast out, too early on the throttle and it goes wide, too late on the brake..same. Had got into a flow, had some space around me and was keeping ahead of another couple of drivers, one of whom had forced me wide earlier so as a personal thing wanted to stay ahead of them and then....server disconnect. Ah, hello darkness my old friend, not seen you for most of the year.

Restarting the game just in case, and going in for the 9 o clock. If it does it again I'll probably leave the last slot, and just take the daily mileage. Has anyone else been having server issues this evening?
