Because I didn’t race yesterday, I went from 90th to 105th in North America. It would have been neat to finish in the top 100 of the region, but oh well. Maybe next time.

Some very stiff competition picked Aston Martin too including Turismo-lester, DNA_Judoka, and @Jeeves_ACBC, so getting into the upper ranks of the manufacturer just wasn’t possible for me.

I do love how the Vantages drive though. Solid and well-rounded cars. (I wanted to pick the DBR9 for Gr. 3 at first, but I heard the V12 Vantage was better.) Aston is definitely a good secondary choice to Lamborghini for me.

For next season, I’m leaning towards Chevrolet as it’s the only American manufacturer I haven’t raced for yet. Or I might give Mazda a try depending on the tracks.

Overall. I enjoyed the exhibition season, and really liked driving both Aston Martins. I'm pretty sure this was my most competitive season in the 2+ years I've been entering the FIAs. If there's another season, I'll likely stick with them unless there's a BoP nerf like what happened to the Mercedes Gr. 4 car at the end of last season.

It was nice to race with a lot of familiar names over the course of the year. The fun and challenge really ramps up when you can trust the guys you're competing with and the racing is hard and fair.

Always fun as well to come to this thread and chat and read about our results, shoot the breeze about strategy and just read about how everyone else's seasons are going. Good times for sure. :)

So, thanks to all here for the info, and to those I've shared the tracks with (and maybe a little paint here and there) thanks for the hard fought races. It's been fun!

The Chevy's are decent all-rounders. The Gr. 3 seems to rotate better than the Viper, and puts its power down just as well, if not better. The Gr. 4 version feels a bit "heavy" but I'm sure it's not too much different from how the Aston drives.

My quali in one word: Sucked

My race in three, it really sucked!

Basically had the same race, I messed up my 2nd run in quali and started from the back. Raced with a bunch of A+ and As while I am only a marginal A driver. Started on hards to get clean air, was at one point up in 12th place, but spun out at Spoon and dropped back to 18th. Finished 14th eventually, 71 points, was feeling OK about it cos I didnt have time to practice before the race.

Manufacturers Finale

Managed to get on for an early slot and entered the 1720... only to be disconnected! So went again in the 2000 slot and ended up in what I think was 2nd split (judging by top split DR) with door #4, along with youtubers Eerieisss and BasicOllie. It was a good race, but it really left me kicking myself!

Qualifying was really a mess! First flying lap I got a big slide on through T1, then edged onto the grass through Dunlop so abandoned. Second run wasn't much better, only clocking a scrappy 2:07.1 on my first flyer but managed to get a cleaner run in for the second and into the 2:06s, which while not 'fast' turned out to be good enough for 6th

Starting on softs I was hopeful nobody ahead was on mediums, but gradually closing on a BMW on L1 and seeing a gap developing between him and 4th I decided he was on mediums (he was!) and went for a move into T1 on L2. That one didn't work! At the end of the sector though he put a wheel on the dirt through Dunlop and I inherited 5th with Eerieisss in the McLaren behind me inheriting 6th. A 1.5s gap to 4th needed to be closed, and just over a lap later I was in the slipstream.

Barring a penalty for a Jag, we ran line astern, everyone seemingly realising that the race wasn't here, this was just the opening gambit. With the gap from 1st to 4th at under 2s the leading Audi pitted on L6. My tyres were still in good condition and I was able to take 2nd from a struggling Jag around the outside of the hairpin.

Now the kicking myself part.

I had decided before the race to do a 7s/1h/10m. But running 2nd and taking time out of the leader I was unsure what to do, a glance at the minimap showed I was likely to come out into a big gap so... Do I stay out while my tyres are better? Do I put softs on and run? Or do I do my pre-planned strategy? In the end, I decided to pit if the leader didn't and do my original strategy rather than risk a potentially bad decision on the fly when I'd got myself into such a good position. So into the pits after L7, a lap on hards, mediums fitted L9, all left a 12s gap to the leader with them still needing to pit twice

Basically, I just didn't drive well enough on the mediums. I knew I could do ten laps at mid 2:08s from practice but only hit that time once, I think on L12. The whole stint was a good 4-5s slower than I was expecting, and I finished 3.2s behind the winner in 3rd. In hindsight, the better move would have been to do an 8-9 lap stint on softs. I would have had track position at the front and a tyre eating Jag protecting me (my lap on hards held him up enough for Eerieisss to overcut), but I can't blame my lack of pace on the mediums on the decision to run them. I was just slightly off and didn't execute it properly.

It was however a great race, and four of us had a genuine chance of winning it. A podium finish was a nice way to end the season though, and here's a summary

All races were one and done, so a decent effort I think!:gtpflag:

I didn't get a chance to race on Wednesday because I had things I was doing, so could only make the last slot. Messed up quali (guy crashed at the 2nd degner in front of me on my fast lap), but that didn't matter as the whole lobby dc'd. Still think that Lexus is a decent manufacturer. Gr.3 17 cars seems strong, and while the Gr.4 is a bit meh it does have ok straight line speed so it can be competitive. Might be worth a try for some of you (plus Giorgio did win the season in a Lexus )

Not sure who to pick for the next manufacturers, but I haven't driven Mercedes, BMW or Toyota in a season so maybe 1 of those.

For Saturdays nations, with a grid start I am thinking about cars that get off the line well - so maybe Mercedes AMG, Citroen, Ford GT or Corvette. Lambo, Ferrari and Honda all start well, but the last time I tried the Ferrari around the Nurburgring GP track I ended up really struggling on worn tyres. I might do the BMW Z4 for a chuckle if I can be relatively competitive :)

Love Suzuka... my best track statistically, and I could race there every week... especially with a nice long format like that, where the race is more realistic, and it rewards the better drivers fairly. Fun lobby you were matched in... TPC guys, AFC, lots of familiar racers. Too bad we don't get matched more often... fun to race with you and to show up in your videos when that happens.

Great season-- 700+ FIA points at our DR range is very solid. Seems you've earned the Star Player rating in the final standings?! Congrats. That was my stretch goal but I just never got going in the first half of the year, and my DR fell as a result, making it altogether a pipe dream for me.

From the looks of it, the McLaren was definitely a weapon, right through until the last race. Great all-rounder. Compared to my Porsche you definitely had more pace and as you noted a few times this year, I was a sitting duck on straights when a McLaren or Aston was anywhere near me.

This is exactly what got me into racing... growing up watching WoO and All-Stars racing on Fri and Sat nights at the local tracks in Ohio. Some legends out there.

Excellent season! You also converted our DR standing to much better FIA points with some solid finishes. It was awesome seeing you in more than half of the races, I think... we got matched a bunch. It's just that you always seemed to finish ahead of me! Hope it continues whenever the next season is... so much more fun when you know who the other guys are and also when you can trust them to race clean and hard.

It is and isn't -- @CurbHog knew how to take advantage of me because we practiced together a bit. He knew what was coming once he caught up

It's amazing to me how we've all grown together the last year or so. Christer and I were paired up for the first time in a barely A room at RBR at the beginning of the main season, and we fought each other for last place essentially. It's cool that we've been able to see each other improve and that we're still getting matched in faster lobbies, and that now we are all fighting for good positions at the end of the race.

I'm so thankful that GTP brought us together.

Next Exhibition Season starts on the 25th November.

Just saw the announcement, I'm glad there's a break because it means I'll be able to participate in the next season. This month is going to be.... busy, with all the projects that need to be done, and then the final exams.

I'm trying to decide what manufacturer to sign with for next season. I'm assuming PD isn't going to change BoP at all since they haven't touched it in forever. I don't think I was able to get enough out of the Viper GT3-R, and I want to try new manufacturers anyways. I'm thinking Aston Martin, McLaren, or Chevrolet, what are people's thoughts?

Im going with the Aston. Seems to be a popular pick, and I’m over going with the cool choice. The Gr. 3 Atenza was solid, but still behind. Same the the Ferrari.

I'm no expert, my DR truly shows that, but what is important to know about the bigger engine cars is fuel mileage. If the races aren't geared towards fuel saving, the cars with the bigger engines stand a chance. However, where the 6 cylinder cars shine is most of the time they are more agile in the corners and fuel is not so much of a worry. I just depends on how PD sets up the races.

I still think the races are too short to really gain from fuel savings though. From the most obvious race of recent in the Gr. 3 @ Tokyo, from a fuel point, I could be an extra 2 laps on the V8s with the Mazda, but the time lost due to the straight line speed difference was such that it was just not remotely competitive.

And with everyone picking these bigger cars, with the rules and BoP right now, a smaller car might be useless unless you want to spent the time finding the quirks and such to get to the level you can in a bigger car with little effort.

Took the Gr.4 cars for a little run at Laguna Seca to see how they go for next week's Daily. Started with the Genesis and stopped. CAr felt good. So, decided to do RAce C and check its pace. The car is pretty damn good.
Might as well run the Gr.3 car tonight and see how competitive it is. Could be on the list for next Exhibition.

Next Exhibition Season starts on the 25th November.

Never seen such a big break between seasons before. They must want to focus all their server capacity to handle the Regional Finals. Oh well, I'll be temporarily migrating to ACC land :P

With the way the seasons are getting more and more spaced out, I don't think I'll be able to try out all the Manufacturers that I want before moving on to GT7 :(

Tried: Merc, Ferrari, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Renault, Dodge, Citroen, McLaren, Lamborghini, Subaru, Mazda
Want to try: Honda, Porsche, Alfa, Nissan, Audi, VW

Anyway, hope tonight's race will be a good one. Last race at Suzuka was much cleaner than usual despite being in second split. All the aliens are probably too busy practicing for finals and all the dirty drivers still stuck in SR hell after Lemans

I've started testing cars out too in preparation for the next season. I like driving the Vette a lot, but it's such a bastard on fuel that it caused me strategy problems in nearly every round of this season.

Tried some of the usual suspects but then went for the Genesis as well, a car that I haven't driven at all before yesterday, and I have to say it drives beautifully. There's a lot of time left before November 25th so I'll be testing more cars out, but at this point I'm leaning heavily towards the Hyundai.

I'm leaning towards the Corvette, mainly because I need to get better at FR cars and I remember liking it early on before I got caught up in my MR obsession. There's enough time that I'll probably practice with a few different manufacturers before making the decision, though.

Followed a couple ghosts in the Nations earlier. I'm way quicker in the first half of the track than the WRX. When we get to the esses before the back straight, the downforce is evidently significant. Followed a Viper and it just has more grunt than the Genesis. I caught up on brakes and cornering.

About to start qualy. One person just got disco'd. 18 cars total.

Forgive me Kaz for I have screwed up. Set a qually time way faster than in practice. Now starting p3, grid start, turn 1 Nurb GP. Send my remains home if you can find them.

Edit: Actually went ok. I got thrown wide turn 1, but only lost the 1 place so wasn't too bad. Got rumbled wide and just let through some WRX drivers who had the run on me first couple of laps while I still tried to get my rhythm back there. Then as I got my speed back started having a good battle with another driver. Heading up to the moron chicane we slightly touch and boom, 2 sec penalty for me. He even stayed ahead the whole time and if anything moved into me.
Thanks PD.👍
Anyway, they were battling so horribly behind that I only lost 1 place serving it. Pit end of lap 6 as p8, come out p9. Get behind the driver who gave the penalty but dont push to get by as fast as I could. Big mistake as they were doing their run on Mediums and I was on Softs. Got past and they promptly pitted.:boggled:
Ran pretty clean after that. Passed another driver who was wonky and one who wrecked. Pitted and of lap 12 for Mediums and ran down the guy in front but couldn't pass. Oh well. Would have been p5 if not for penalty. But otherwise a good race. Had been having a good battle until the penalty system intervened. Still got a season high points so sounds fine to me.

Ran the 17 Lexus. Half the grid was WRX, but most of them seemed to eat their tires quickly.
Good luck all.:gtpflag:
