I made it through T1 unscathed. Sat P1 and had an average launch. TC2, TCS1 TCS 0. P2 AMG and P3 Vantage/Jag were close. I stayed way wide. Almost took myself out. Cars behind were kind. Gathered up and got my rhythm.
5RSsplash of fuel/5RMdash of fuel/5RS. MAintained P@ after each stop. Had an RSR on my bumper from T1-T3, but they stayed clean. 👍 Passed the AMG to finish P1.

That was a B/S room with about five players I've raced multiple times. housej was there. THe Genesis was good. Sharp with the steering. I was squaring the corners for the whole race. the brakes are good and it's addicting to smash the accelerator on exit.

I'm conflicted. Been using the Cayman in Race C and it's fun. I'm not a fan of the RSR(no matter how good it may be). I can see how the Cayman's lack of top end can be a pain over a season, but so far, it's kind of new to me.
The Genesis looks to have huge potential. Especially, as it's not one of the usual suspects. We'll see.

Just going through my replay as there was some snarky chatter after the race. Please people, use TCS if you need to, and pit when you have to. Dont try to be stupid and hero it up and stick to the Alien META strategy. Watching lots of people eat it on fried tires with no TCS.

That said, a guy went from p14ish to p5 by 1 stopping in the RSR 911. Used TCS and babies the tires. Also punted 2 people.:odd:

It is very stable, definitely not the most nimble and seems to have decent power. It's a good pick if you're aiming for something that will be in the mix as well as being up there within the manufacturer rankings, but depends if they do a BoP update

Took the Gr.4 cars for a little run at Laguna Seca to see how they go for next week's Daily. Started with the Genesis and stopped. CAr felt good. So, decided to do RAce C and check its pace. The car is pretty damn good.
Might as well run the Gr.3 car tonight and see how competitive it is. Could be on the list for next Exhibition.

The Hyundai Genesis is good to drive, both gr3 and gr4, no real big strong points, but also no real weakness.
(The 7 year warranty is a nice benefit too )
Good to see some people here checking brands like Chevrolet, Hyundai etc. as an alternative to the usual suspects.
I fear that the coming exhibition season will be sort of an Audi open tournament, with a few Astons and Dodges participating.....

Last race of the season so felt like taking out an unpopular car. Rolled out in the M6 because why not! :)

Qualified 11th and started on Mediums. Was in 9th when I pitted lap 3 for Softs. Didn’t need to add fuel with a little short shifting to help. Pit lap 9 for Softs again and came out in 7th, leaping a couple of cars that added fuel. Last lap, 911 in front binned it so took 6th place. Think only about 4 cars had blue SR after the race!

Well top split slot 1 was interesting.

Started P9 in the Lexus, pitted at the end of Lap 5 from 8th, carnage happened at the front on Lap 6 and every car in the Top 5 got a penalty.
So eventually got a massive undercut and was in the lead at the end of Lap 7.

Unfortunately didn't quite have enough pace to stay there (having 1 lap older tyres didn't help) but came home a very eventful P7 only 7.5 seconds back from the winner.

Pretty poor season overall but might grab P10 overall in region.

The new season starts on the 25th of November. That's a Sunday. Schedule change incoming?

Isn't it a Wednesday? At least I have a few league races to tide me over until then in any case

Nations Cup Round 10
Since I've already had a fantastic season in Nations and far exceeded my expectations, I thought I'd be a little experimental with this round and try something a bit uncommon. I ended up pulling out the Mustang Gr.3 for this after trying a few as my laptimes (in free practice at least) seemed to be fastest with it. I'm currently thinking of going Ford for the new season in November anyway, so that was a nice coincidence.

My best lap in qualifying was a 1:55.344, starting me in P10. I figured starting that far back I may as well get the Medium stint out of the way first, going 5M/5S/5S. The beginning of the race was almost a disaster, as I misjudged my braking point and went deeper than intended. Thankfully there was a nice space in front of me that I could go down without hitting anyone. Crisis averted. 👍

However... there was more to come. The Porsche that started P3 must have been punted because I found him right behind me throughout my first stint, and he was impatient. I got rear-ended a couple of times which has cost me some SR (thankfully only down to 91), kind of frustrating. :irked: He had a big SR loss at the end though, dropping all the way to A/B.

My pit strategy didn't work out how I'd hoped, as when I put on the Softs and came out at the start of lap 6 I was stuck right behind a group that were fighting with no way past. Instant game over on trying to push forward there unfortunately. By the time the group thinned out enough to start moving through, my tyres were past their best.

I messed up the last bend on lap 12 as well, grazing the pit entry pillar and bouncing off it a bit. I might have jumped a couple of people if I hadn't. :ouch:

End result, P12. Would have been P13, except the Porsche that had been bashing me about binned himself on the hairpin on the last lap. Not going to lie, I may have enjoyed watching that. :P

Well, that's a mostly down season (like how my season went after the 86 Gr.4 BoP change), although I had one top ten in Manufacturer's (Laguna Seca Gr.3) and a win in Nations, bringing my total Sport Mode lifetime win to 2 (La Sarthe Gr.C race, although I feel like I might have made one questionable contact). Season stats:

EDIT: Worth noting my point earnings are a bit inflated because for most of the season I raced against higher DR racers.

First attempt didn't go well as I received a 2 second penal and was punted of on lap 1 leaving me in plum last, recovered to 16th.

Qualified in 16th for my second attempt with an average lap. Managed to get through lap 1 cleanly without any incidents in 11th place. I stopped on laps 4 and 9 for soft tyres which worked to my advantage. Eventually finished in 8th which I'll take.

P.S: The two stop definitely felt a lot faster with the relatively high tyre wear. Also shout out to the Swiss guy in both lobbies using one of my Liveries on the Huracán!

Having a play with the schedule.

- KYOTO Yamagiwa+Miyabi
- BMB Infield A II
- Sardegna Road Track C II
- Autopolis
- TokyoESIL or Lago - West
- Red Bull Ring Rain
- St. Croix - C II
- Bathurst
- Interlagos
- Spa Rain

I don't think there's ever been a Gr.3 race at Tokyo Expressway Central Inner Loop. Not even a Twilight race, in Rain, at that layout. *shudders*

I haven't quit a race in a long, long time but omfg this game is broken.

The amount of divebombing is like a daily race and SR downs and penalties are being handed out everytime someone slams into you in a corner.

I don't know if I have the patience to repair my SR for another go or not.

Edit: 33 SR lost in 4 laps. Granted, one of those SR downs is all on me when I finally lost it and punted the guy who kept on t-boning and divebombing me without getting a single penalty. JFC.

There should really be a system in place for consistently dirty drivers. Something like what certain communities do with cheaters where they only get matched up with other cheaters. Make it so that drivers who have consistently massive swings in SR get banned from S lobbies.

Those in NA know who this would apply to.

NA Slot 1, again jumped in with few minutes to go. Tried a few TT laps in the Lexus, didn't like it. Went with the Aston Martin instead, liked it better. 218-point lobby, together with @Granadier.

Did an OK lap in qualifying, but was only good enough for P15. Started with the mediums, got pinballed from behind into another car into T3, luckily without any penalties. Climbed to P9 at the end of the first lap. With the mediums, I obviously started to go a little bit backwards, trying not to lose too much time until I pitted for softs at the end of lap 3.

Came out in traffic but was able to overtake the car ahead without losing too much time. I pitted again lap 9, for another set of softs and a splash of fuel, coming out in P10. My pace wasn't that bad, did a 1:55.5 during the race, which was just 2 tenths off the winner's PB. But having not tested it, I had big issues with the tyres. I've absolutely killed my fronts on both soft stints. With hindsight, I should have probably done three 5-lap stints instead. Heavy understeer ended up costing me a place against the american youtuber, but was an enjoyable clean battle.

P11 at the end, not great, but sticking to one go only. Was still a fun race. Jumping in minutes before races with no practice while currently dedicating more time to ACC isn't helping my performances, but still had some really fun races in very competitive lobbies this exhibition season. 👍 Now looking forward to the FIA break.

Nations Cup North America Slot 1

A/S lobby, 155 points for the win

Door 11
Q10
P9
Gained ~200DR ~ 33.7K

102 points for a net gain of 11 points. Pretty clean race, except for a guy exiting the pits and crossing straight over to the racing line into T1 despite me coming up at full tilt boogie. I rear-ended him and got a 1 second penalty.

Also on my first stop (I went with the 6S/6S/3M strategy) as I was leaving, another car and me were ghosted on top of each other. When we went live, we both went straight into the wall on the left heading into T1... it was weird, but no penalty or SR down for either of us.

I feel I had the pace for a top 5 if not for these 2 incidents, so I think I'll run in slot 4 and see how it goes.

Of all the way too many things they penalize in this game, pit lane track limits is not one of them. I get you ghost for maybe 100 yards, but that’s not enough time to speed up and slot in. Especially with a first corner like this track (even worse @ Fuji), seeing guys hold their line on exit almost gets me to say something to them after the race.

Pretty horrible slot 4 for me in North American Nations Cup

Mostly A/S lobby, worth 159 points for a win

Door 9
Q14
P16
60 points
Lost 1,000 DR ~ 32.7K DR
Maintained 99 SR luckily

Apparently getting shunted in T1 is forcing another car off the track and worthy of a 3 second penalty. Similarly, being in the middle of a 5 car train that's stacked up is also worth 2 more seconds. So 5 seconds in penalties in the first 2 laps.

Then the embarrassment of a graceful spin on lap 3 in the chicane while having a great little tussle with @KosmoKazi, so now I'm to spend most of the rest of the race in DFL. Did the 6S/4MF/5S for strategy and managed to end up in P16 for worthless points. Also was sad to see @Geauxgreddy getting the wrong end of the stick on lap 14.

Kind of have to go again now in slot 5 and hope for the best.

FIAGTC 2020-2021 Exhibition Season
Nations Cup
Race #10 - Gr3 / Nürburgring GP

I really hate this Mickey Mouse track. From the stupid configuration of the pit exit and that turn 1 apex, to the contrived newer S-section in the first sector, to the inane chicane at the end, it's just a crap track and not suited to GT racing sprints at all. I also have no idea how to drive it fast.

So I didn't expect much, and assumed my Nations standing was as good as done. And that's what happened. Total waste of time and cost me 1200 DR in the process.

I won't complain more, I just stink at this track. But I did get a great start, worked up safely to 11th place, only to get a bogus 3 sec penalty on lap one because of a chain reaction that resulted in a tap to the car in front of me... as if I wasn't up against a challenge already... I had a fighting chance at that point, before the stupid penalty. But I labored on and came home in the same position I started in, with a clean race otherwise, but just no pace.

So the season started as it began, with me stinking up the joint in the Gr3 car in particular, at a track that I never do well in. Not a banner race for GTP drivers as @afc5150 and @Geauxgreddy and I all had the bottom podium spots with two laps to go, though AFC got past another to improve his standing and another dude spun his way onto the losers podium to break up the GTP lockout of ignominy.

8287199473503862808_0.jpg

Leading AFC-R6N in the first stint... though he'd finish two spots ahead of me by the end.

Porsche 911 RSR (991) '17
Qualified: 18th
Race Finish: 18th (46 useless pts, my worst of the year)
Door #10 (-1200 or so DR... everything I gained last race, again)

3rd time's the charm, I guess :)

Slot 5 North American Nations Cup

Split lobby 10 A/S, 10 B/S, 150 points for the win

Door 7
Q4
P2
144 points
Gained 1200 DR ~ 33.9K DR

Finally a decent qualy lap but still a full second off pole, but only a couple 10ths off 2nd. I knew the start would be crucial, and although I got shuffled down to 7th during the first lap, it was OK as no penalties for me this time, and I knew I had OK pace in this lobby.

Ran the 6S/3MF/6S again, which seemed fine for me, and just put in consistent laps in an error free run. I was hanging on for dear life at the end, and led 3rd across the line by less than a second, but we were some 25 seconds behind the pole sitter/winner who was obviously much faster than the rest of us. Post race chat was pretty chippy, but I haven't watched the replay yet.

Happy with that one.

So, last race in Nations Cup for this season. Chose the Aston Martin and I knew I had pace here.

But... It was like almost any race in Nations this season.

Slot1: Remained alone in the lobby.
Slot2: Nailed the quali with a 53.7 putting it on pole, 4 tenths better then P2. Start was not great, being dived in T1 by a Lexus and losing 2 positions in the process. But then started to pull a gap from the rest of the field, so I concluded it was going pretty well... until the chicane when I managed to spin the car. Rejoined the pack in P17 and tried to get back up through the field. Was gaining, being in P10 at the moment, but I managed to spin the car 2nd time at the chicane(I never did this before, not even in practice during the last days). Managed to climb back in P13, and chasing P12 but in the final lap I missed the exit from the stadium sector and slided a bit on the grass. Finished P14 and I was gutted.

Slot3: I knew I had the pace so I went again. Quali did not went good this time, put a weak banker of 54.7 and then I messed up a lap that would have been at least 54.0 at the chicane. Started P10 on mediums, and short shifted as much as I can. I lost 3 positions in the 3 lap stint but I knew I can recover that in the pits. Pitted and got out on Soft, getting out in P16 but having a 2s gap from the driver in front. I managed to put in some good laps while managing my fuel and as soon as majority of the field pitted I went up to P7. Then in lap 9 I pitted for the 2nd set of Softs and as I was just 0.3 laps short of fuel I did not put any. Got out in P10, but car in front was on medium and made short work of it at the end of 1st sector. Then started chasing the cars in front. Managed to overtake a Lexus for P8 just a lap later and then just destroyed the gap to the driver in front. At the chicane a blue Subaru lost it so I gained another position and in the Lap14 made my move in T1 to gain P6. I chipped the 2s advantage of the Aston in P5 but it was already to late - the finish line caught me when I was entering slipstream range. So, P6 - 170p and recovered all DR lost in the previous race. Decided not to risk it again and took the points.

So - season overview: Although I had a decent start, I had a lot of bad luck this season even though I had combos when I had very good pace like RB junior at Dragontail and the Viper race at Spa. In both races I was punted and had my race ruined several times.

Missed my target to get in top200(finished P203, 818 points) and finished 2nd in the Romanian Leaderboards. That's mostly because fastest drivers in my country abandoned FIA races annoyed by dirty drivers and current penalty system.

I also managed to break into A+, for a short period and had a brilliant race at Goodwood in Manu but then slipped back to A and sitting now at about 45k DR.

So, moving on and hoping for better next Season. I don't really understand why is such a big break till the next season(I know, PS5 launch and all) but it is how it is. I will take a break from Sport mode until then and focus on our private league competitions.

I think that's likely to be the closest I'm ever going to get to the Top 200 in anything. :D It's going to be so much harder in GT7 when the number of people playing rockets back up again.

Fantastic season this time around, completely smashing all expectations I had with 5 podium finishes. My average score per round is far above anything I've ever had previously. It's definitely been a confidence booster as well.

Before this season, the last time I played was in the 2020 Series Pre-Season where I really got roughed up a lot and kicked down to B DR. I had several races in a row where I was being repeatedly rammed off or getting unjustified penalties, and I walked away for a while to cool off as it just wasn't fun anymore. One that definitely sticks in my mind is getting an amazing launch at a Dragon Trail Seaside grid start, surviving the first chicane only to then have someone lose the back end on the exit kerb and go sideways across the track. I got clipped as they were going over and boom, my race is already ruined. Nothing like getting hit with a 4 second penalty for being an innocent bystander!

But now I can just put that down to a string of really, really bad luck. I've worked my way back up into A DR again and it seems I can indeed hold my own there afterall. :)

I do wonder how the Mazda round at Kyoto would have gone, but I was definitely not in a fit state to do it whilst struggling with a suspected case of food poisoning. Would certainly have been interesting trying to set things up so I could race from the toilet. :yuck:

Strategy: 8S-8M-4H

Wednesday was a night to forget. Race 3 saw me go a little too wide out of 130R, causing the car to snap and spin off into the barriers. Race 4 had me start from the back and stay there, and Race 5 had a Ferrari forgot that his tyres were cold, sending him wide at T1, before running wide partway through the esses. Instead of doing the sensible thing and getting off the throttle to steer the car back on track, he guns the throttle, sending his car into a spin and ramming me off into the gravel. I managed to scrape into the top 10 for useless points, but I was understandably furious with the Ferrari after seeing the replay. He apologised and said that it was his mistake, though I was incredulous that he would try flooring the throttle when he was already partially off track. He apparently wasn't aware that cold tyres were a thing in this game, and I advised him to take it easy on the opening few laps next time.

I was ranked 21th out of 81 Dodge Asia drivers, which is alright. Not sure if I would try other manufacturers.

Nations

Liveries:

Races 1 and 2: Halloween-themed Supra itasha by me

Races 3 and 4: Blue Subaru itasha by HeatAgi

Race 1 was a demolition derby, and I accidentally started the carnage by braking too late and punting the RX-V ahead into the Shadow Realm and taking a rather lenient 1 second for it. I got hit with a lot of SR drops for running into other cars, including this disgusting incident when a Corvette crossed the grass at turn 7 and punted an Aston into the gravel for a 4 second penalty, while I got an SR drop for running into the Corvette that should not have been there:
Q49ZywH.jpg

I also got two ridiculous 3 second penalties for this:

I finished 13th with a SR drop to B and an apology to the RX-V I punted off, forcing me to waste Races 2 and 3 to repair my SR.

Race 2 was also pretty messy, with a fair number of incidents at the front even with the easier lobby. For example, 3 cars coming together at the final chicane because I wasn't expecting the Subaru to copy the Lexus' dive:
zc8rpsE.jpg

Which ended with the Subaru running wide and getting spun by the Lexus that got away without a penalty:
nYcaan5.jpg

oJnSAir.jpg
w9YhudL.jpg
x7puGRl.jpg

After going off at turn 6 due to a wide exit at turn 5, I finished 5th with 2 Subarus on the podium. After this, I decided to switch to Subaru (as they seemed to have better race pace) and try out a 1-stop strategy, under the mistaken belief that the Subaru in 1st had done a 1-stop (He didn't). The 1-stop seemed to work when I tested it in Race 3, so I went into Race 4 looking to end the season on a high note.

hPilnQu.jpg

Strategy: 7S-8M

I qualified 4th with a great lap and jumped to 2nd after the chaos of turn 1. However, my pace wasn't enough, and I slipped off the podium. I would stay in 4th after the pit stop, but the 1-stop proved to be so slow that a Mercedes overtook me on my Medium second stint, pitted on lap 12 for Softs, and overtook me again on the final lap, leaving me to settle for 5th. After the disaster of race 1, 5th for 102 points was a nice way to end the season.

Was fun running heads up for a short bit again! I had to defend hard in the Schumacher Esses after a poor run up out of the hairpin, but I knew I was eventually a sitting duck, until you got me on the next lap. Then I saw you loop it on the exit of that dreadful chicane (it's so unrewarding, there is nothing redeeming about the challenge of it), and was hoping you knew I didn't make any contact. I was held up bad in the middle stint of the race, as is so easy to happen when a train of cars get stacked up behind a slower car... especially with this stupid penalty system where any incidental contact on the bumper ahead of you kills your race with a 2 or 3 second penalty. Just an awful combo to end the season on, Gr3 at this track.

Yeah, the inconsistencies are annoying... watch my replay, see that I got a 3 sec penalty for a tap caused by a chain reaction in front of me. But later in the race, I was shoved aside by two drivers in a row in that same spot, losing position to both, and they get no penalty. I even let the guy hit me at one point, after I assumed he was determined to, assuming he'd get a penalty like I did, but no... yet I lost 7 spots on a crap penalty after making a great start to gain them first.
