Fidel Castro, the Cuban despot who famously proclaimed after his arrest in a failed coup attempt that history would absolve him, has died at age 90.

Castro's brother and the nation's President of several years, Raul, announced his death Friday on Cuban TV.
At the end, an elderly and infirm Castro was a whisper of the Marxist firebrand whose iron will and passionate determination bent the arc of destiny.

Many happy Cubans in Miami:

I was going to post this.
RIP, not everyone liked him, but the family deserves condolences.

...

Well, if you read it again you might understand what I am saying there.

Or ask god?
I understand perfectly. You're saying that you don't know how many of his own people he murdered.

Do you know if he murdered any of his own people?

Personally? No. But all signs sure point to it.

But that is of course only shown by biased Western media to put the poor man in a bad light.

That would seem like the obligation of someone accusing him of mass murder.

The irony level is over 9000.

Now see, when I use Google with that phrase, all kinds of evidence pops up. But alas, most of it is either western Media like the BBC, AP, CNN or obscure sites that I do not know. Youtube, another evil western contraption is also filled with biased documentaries so I can't use that as a source either. History books are written by lying winners of battle.

I now see that I'm wrong condemning Fidel. He was such a pearl of humanity. All those millions of Cubans fleeing Cuba were wrong. Viva Fidel.

Sheesh. About time.

An iconic figure in the struggle against imperialism.

R.I.P. comandante.

Classy.
If by that you mean they both refused to be 🤬 raped by Washington, sure.
Is that an admission of your own lack of knowledge on the matter?

Protip: When CNN announces your death with the word "despot" in the opening line, it tends to suggest you didn't live your life as the reincarnation of Mr. Rogers.

But don't worry, I'm sure they will still make Che Guevera shirts for you to buy at Norwegian Hot Topic.

To be honest, I'm not a communist or a leftist or something, but the man deserves respect IMO. He was a symbol of an era. People in his country adored him (not all, though). Despite of being threatened by CIA repeatedly, he stood against a superpower close by and kept his country independent. Strong man who lived a strong life.

No absolutely not, any person who takes their personal gain of power and influence and controls, impoverishes, alienates, or kills, and basically takes away the personal rights of people (fellow humans), deserves no sweet eulogy as they fade into the abyss. What they deserve is to be put six feet under, for the worms to enjoy and forgotten, with the only reminder as a chapter in history books to their misdeeds so others can make sure it doesn't repeat.

This let's sing freakin kumbaya and be friendly to a guy that if you lived under his reign at his peak of power, wouldn't have given you the time. The people who hate U.S. foreign policy of the 50's, 60's and 70's will see him as you do, a man that stood against a giant. I and others can be impartial and dislike both equally or varying depending on the offense. I'm no more a fan of Kissinger than I am of Castro. Simple.

My admiration for Fidel Castro is an admiration of his successful overthrow of the Batista regime.
If you think Castro was bad, read up on the guy he overthrew.

But of course, when you make powerful enemies in Washington your country will suffer in the long run.

What makes Castro unique is that his enemies never managed to execute him and retake his country, unlike many other countries in Latin America. His defiance remained a stone in the shoe for the Washington.

I would not be surprised if they mummify him like this:

Could you Imagine how much Better off Cuba would be if they did get taken over though.

One dictator overthrows another. Survives hundreds of assassination attempts by his adoring public. Definitely something to admire. I wonder if there's a Castro bobblehead?
