Just got my email with attached affidavit to confirm my eligibility for the final round. So, keep an eye out. :)

Congratulations! You are among an exclusive group of top performers after competing against more than 53,000 competitors in GT Academy! Your ranking as one of the top 8 competitors in your region earns you a spot to compete in the GT Academy finals, subject to confirmation of your eligibility.

PrizeLogic has attached an affidavit that you will need to complete and notarize to confirm your eligibility. Once you have returned the affidavit to PrizeLogic, we can confirm your spot in the GT Academy finals to be held in Orlando, Florida, March 21st through 23rd. As required by the Official Rules for the Promotion, you must read, complete, sign and have notarized the attached Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release, Copyright Assignment, and Publicity Release before you can be officially declared the 1st Place Winner.

Documents must be properly notarized and received by PrizeLogic no later than 5:00 PM, EST on March 3, 2011 or the prize will be forfeited.

Return your notarized document (certified or signature required mail or fax suggested) to the following address:

*SNIP*

As soon as your Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release, Copyright Assignment, and Publicity Release is received and verified, you will be contacted regarding delivery arrangements for your Prize. If you choose to decline the Prize, please sign the Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release, Copyright Assignment, and Publicity Release in the area designated for declining the Prize, and return it to the address above.

As a national finalist, you are 1 of 32 remaining GT Academy competitors who will have a chance to put your driving skills to the ultimate test and possibly go on to win the ultimate GT Academy prize: to become a real world, professional race car driver and compete as part of a real team in an endurance race later this year.

The GT Academy National Finals will determine who will be the final 16 contestants who will participate in the GT Academy boot camp in Silverstone, England and be featured in the GT Academy reality series on Speed TV.

We thank you for your participation and enthusiasm for Gran Turismo 5, and look forward to entering the next exciting phase of the GT Academy.

Very cool. How big of a smile did that put on your face upon reading...? :)

Pretty big. :D

Although I almost had a heart attack because it asks for a copy of your drivers license, and even though I'm in AZ I still have a CO drivers license. I just called the prize company and he said it doesn't have to be issued by the state you reside in, so we're all good.

They sure don't give us much time to get this stuff together.

Ya, two days seems like a quick turn around - probably only due to the "delay" we experienced during round 2 eh? Hopefully "Miata" see's this post and is able to jump on getting his info over to the folks there. It'd be pretty terrible for him to miss out on the finals due to being "off land."

Being that guy in 9th place, I'm hoping that the reason they need it so quick is so they can notify the next guys on the list if someone in the top 8 gets DQ'd.

This is soo cool, but man I wish they did this over the weekend. If its a three night stay do we go back home on Thursday? I need to figure out how many vacation days I need to take.

I'm wondering the same thing. Email says Monday through Wednesday, but it also says three nights in a hotel. So I'm thinking I'll take off through Thursday.

I've not gotten the email yet. Anyone else not get it yet?

I really want to get the email in the next few hours as I'm in San Juan and I can find a notary then overnight my mail with a tracking number. I may not have the same luck tomorrow in St. Kitts.

Back to being stressed. :)

I received my email earlier today. You've done the standard check spam/filters etc..? Keep in mind that faxing is an option as well.

I just have my phone since PR has AT&T, I'm heading back to the ship to hop on a computer. I've gotten the emails in the past on my phone though.... We'll see what happens.

edit:
Just got it!!!!!

I would think they expect you to get there on Sunday for an on time start Monday morning. Just a wild guess, though.

Oh, and congratulations to everyone who made it there. Very impressive. 👍

hell yea, way to go Turbo and Spec. Will be rooting for you guys in the finals. I competed in this too, but no where near fast enough to get to the finals. Quite a humbling experience. GL

Really would love to know how, or if, the rest of us are going to be able to follow this or watch at least the replays if we cant watch it live. Let's hope they can rig up something to broadcast this, it will surely be very intense :dopey:

So this is the first time I've done this, and I have a couple questions about the affidavit for anyone with more experience than myself:

1. I'm away at college, so do I put my college address or my permanent home address?
2. Do I need to sign the affidavit before going to have a notary sign it or does the notary need to be present when I sign it?

Thanks in advance!

You need to sign in the presence of a notary. Notary's stamp that they witnessed your signature. The question about your address.....not sure there.

Today I learned that they don't have notaries in Puerto Rico. This is what the bank told me.

A friend of mine suggested that the captain of the ship is probably a notary, maybe you could ask him :sly:

It depends if his parents still claim him as a dependent, or if he's independent.
I'd imagine the region thing, and the address used to sign up for the contest are things to consider also. 👍

Thanks Rack, I thought of that too, but just talked to the promoter who emailed me and she's giving me a few extra days because of my circumstances of being out of the country.

She was very understanding....but I also probably sounded like a cracked out loon when I called her. I was all shaken up after I was literally "running" around San Juan looking for a notary and coming up with nothing. I should be good. :)

When I called to ask about my drivers license they picked right up and were very nice. Totally surprised I didn't have to go through another stupid automated system to talk to a real human.

I'm in college as well and I went ahead and used my home address that's on my drivers license.

awesome guys!

Glad you got everything worked out Spec, have fun in Puerto Rico...wish I was there again. You'll be in the Rincon area?
