Very sad, but since I got the Logitech G29 on 30.3., I have no use from it in GT Sport, only headache and heavy disappointments!
I was aware that I'll need some time for getting used it, but it is passing, I'm trying various categories and cars, but now I see that I won't reach my DS4 capabilities so fast, maybe not at all!

From other side, I tried Project Cars 2, where I spent hours only and only on finding some good settings for DS4 - and they didn't happen, and there was effect like I'm felt into race car cocpit, everything is soo smooth and natural...!
It's just calling, one more lap, please, you see that you are enjoying...

Still didn't tried Asseto Corsa, but I'm expecting the same.

Considering myself as experienced racer, nine-ten years ago, I was playing GTR 2, rFactor and RBR a lot using G25.

Talking about GT titles, GT5 & 6 was beauty with G27, even with DFGT, DS3 couldn't do nothing there...

But GTS, I really wasn't expecting this, specially not in GT game.
My settings are 7/5/4 but I even don't think this is so important, playing with ABS default only.

I gave everything I had for this wheel and now I have what?
Debts only, and months of pure surviving ahead...

Seriously thinking about giving up, abandoning game and I'm little (bcs I still have pCars and AC here) regretting bcs I didn't bought G920!

For me it took around 1 month to get used to the wheel (DR/SR A/S on DS4), now I'm faster on a wheel then I was on DS4 and its far more enjoyable to drive on a wheel. I guess few days is just not enought...

Hey Man, don‘t give up. I‘ve gone through the same like you, believe me. I was a Joypad Acrobat my whole life and after I got GtSport I felt that it was time for a step up.
My Wife gave the ok and I went to buy me a T150. Followed by T3PA Pedals a Playseat and a Ricmotech Hard Mount Adapter
My only advice is, just give it time. I adapted very fast it took me a few days and I was able to get to my DS4 Times. Although they were not fast. And today my Gap to #1 Times is 1-1.5 Seconds. I already even was many many times on the Leaderboards thanks to my Wheel I guess. So just be patient. It will pay off 100%. Trust me.
I know that it’s a lot of Kuna you spent for it. Half of my Family lives in my Home Country Croatia too, I was born in Pirovac and I know that life ain‘t easy there. Heads up, you’re a good Boy, Croatians never give up. We are Fighters.

With all due respect, what is this purpose of this post? Are you looking for advice or something? I'm confused.

When I made the switch 8 years ago I was already pretty fast with the controller. First time with a wheel was such a disappointment. I expected to be fast, but was much slower initially. Took at least a month to get comfortable. After that my Lap times started to fall quite quickly.

You’ve just got to stick with it. Takes time to get ‘the feel’.

Exactly the same as me, I was in my eyes at least, a very proficient pad user, I’ve played games all my life and played predominantly racing games. I got gt sport at release and by Christmas starting to get very close to top ten times on DS4, occasionally sneaking in to it!

I decided at Christmas I wanted a wheel more for the experience than speed but thought I would be instantly fast, how wrong was I! So so wrong couldn’t even make it round the track let alone fast!! There are still times I set with a DS4 I still can’t beat with my wheel but also many now that I have beaten by a big margin. I’m slowly getting faster it’s taken me three months to get up to speed, it took a long while to change habits especially that a wheel doesn’t instantly turn into a corner like a pad.

It’s certainly a learning curve of which I’ve still got plenty to learn. But the biggest difference for me is exactly why I bought it, the experience! I wish I bought one years ago, it no longer feels like I’m playing a game anymore, it really feels like an actual experience and I love it!!

The main thing is don’t worry about going fast, setting top ten times, just enjoy it!

I think the problem is that you first have to un-learn everything you learned using the DS4 before re-learning your wheel. I bought my Fanatec about 6 weeks ago, the first 2-3 days I thought I made a $900 mistake, I was not very happy. Slowly but surely I learned to control the car, then I started getting quicker, now I am faster and far more consistent using the Fanatec than I ever would have been with the DS4. Give it time, the love will come!!:gtpflag:

Well it proves once again people with controller are not that fast without one. If going fast is your thing, stick to the DS4 or just give it more time as suggested. Rome was not build in one day. Furthermore the wheel should give you way more fun than a controller. If not, when speed instead of fun is your thing, stick to the DS4.

Just be a wise man, and stick to the wheel ;)

.... but now I see that I won't reach my DS4 capabilities so fast, maybe not at all!

I think that's your first mistake, You've put a limit on yourself !
Everyone makes the transition at different rates, don't be so hard on yourself.
My first two rules of sim racing... 1- Always believe you can go faster. 2- Never ever admit 'Thats as fast as I can go'.

I'm with @TheGeologist ... not sure if you are just wanting to vent (which is completely ok and understandable) or looking for something.

I just got a Thrustmaster T300 Alcantara edition wheel and T3PA pedal set on Saturday... With Easter and all I didn't have a chance to try it out til yesterday - I spent your proverbial "hours" just getting the damn thing to work with PC2 and Dirt Rally - and then another hour driving terrible before going to bed. I in no way feel I made a mistake though as it was a complete blast using the wheel and pedals.

However, I was OVER driving the car in both games - and I'm pretty decent at PCars... with the DS4. It will take time to utilize a wheel, for sure. After 15 laps or so at Imola I was finally able to complete a lap without a mistake.. albeit a slow lap. But I feel that with time and some adjustment to the wheel (fixing dz and endpoints, and getting the right degrees of rotation set) it will get better.

The ONE big thing I really "felt" after running the R8LM around Imola for ~25 laps - I was tired and could feel it in my shoulders. HA!! It actually "felt" like I had been driving, or more to it, doing something. Going from a controller to a wheel (with even a decent amount of Force Feedback) is a fairly substantial change.

DON'T GIVE UP!! You can do it, and it will get better.

One little tidbit of advice - pick a game and run it. Don't go back and forth between games until you just get frustrated. Stick with a game and get the wheel setup to your liking and then run it, see what it's doing and what it's not - make a change and try again. That's half the fun!!

GOOD LUCK WITH IT!!

I use to have the wheel at first as well. Back in the GT4 day I bought the gt wheel by Logitech. Hated it at first, now I will use a wheel for sim racing exclusively. Going back to a controller feels weird.

Dont look at the times. You will certainly perform in races due to the more control you have. Easier to drive very close to each other with a wheel.

I was never fast with a controller, in fact, I was terrible. I think it takes a lot of skill to be able to compete with one, so props to you. You are starting from scratch learning to drive with a wheel, so yeah it will take some getting used to.

Chin up, keep at it, and you’ll see improvements I’m sure.

I remembered my first days with wheel in GT5
after one year of racing on dualshock I decided to bought Logitech and in first race (2 or 3 days after wheel arrived) on Grand Valley in league where I always have been on top3 in room full of wheel users I took 12 place

GT is a game where dualshock users can be competitive vs wheels and that is cool
but wheel is just more funny and consistent in longer runs, but you need some time to learn different habits on the track again which are different from what you've been doing for a long time on dualshock, even if you've experience with the steering wheel before, this all is a muscle and brain memory

maybe try different settings of wheel? I'm using 7/8/2

I bet if I gave a wheel user the controller He would be slow. " goes to prove wheel users aren't really fast "

1st : Controller Steering Sensitivity doesn't affect at all the wheel.
Also, i am playing with FF Max Torque at 3 and FF Sensitivity at 1.

0/3/1, for a T-GT wheel.

Try different settings to FEEL the wheels, not to fight them.

And if you can, i would suggest you to retry the campaign to do all the race track with the wheel. You will learn a lot from it.

GL ;)

I wonder if we'll ever get the Rimac Concept_One in GTS. Great looking and performing car. And an impressive company with how they're becoming such a major electric car parts supplier, even more so being from Croatia!

I do have to admit I was really disappointed when after using the wheel for 2 weeks I tried one-two laps with the DS4 and got a better time, but that didn't make me quit the game - instead I kept practicing and now I'm pretty sure I won't be able to achieve the consistency and times I do with my G29 - plus the game is waaay more fun with the wheel and playseat challenge :) Just for the statistics I was B/S when I got my wheel and now I'm mid A/S - I'm pretty sure if I start being more selective on the track/car combos in the dailies I'll be able to get to DR S - I just enjoy the game and play every track car combo which sometimes leads to ... not that good results, so long story short - keep practicing ...and one more thing - never spend your last money one something like this :P

You need to have some grit, man. Don't give up!

Logically speaking, you get far more control with a wheel + pedals. You can make much finer micro adjustments to your steering and throttle inputs that are nearly impossible with a pad. Just look at all the folks complaining they can't prevent spins without TC. With a wheel + pedals, it's much easier to modulate your inputs and keep your car on the road.

Switched to using a wheel (G29) in January. Am now faster and more consistent with the wheel that I ever was with a controller.

I also started to use manual and so the whole experience is far more engaging. Frequently tried manual using a controller, but it never felt natural to me.

The downside, is that I play far more than i ever did previously.

Not that I should question other people's financial priorities, however, I will say this

I got a T300 a few weeks ago, after using a controller since GT1. I hadn't found any good tilt steer until GT Sport, and was a huge convert to it. My first few laps on the wheel were 30 seconds slower on Bathurst, but I put in about 30-60 mins each day (usually lucky to get 1-2 hours per week) and each day saw 5 seconds or so drop from my lap time. Fast forward a few weeks I haven't looked back. The feedback is great...especially the ABS jitter you feel through the wheel...but trail braking just makes so much more sense - my foot apparantly understands the brake a lot better than my left middle finger.

Spend a bit of time and you will get there...change some settings make yourself comfortable if you don't feel right with it.

I thought you were Slovak?! :nervous::lol:

but yeah... same here... I was doing alien-like laptimes with the DS4 and when I got my T300 I was like 2 seconds/lap slower than I was with the DS4 but now I can do pretty much the same laptimes with the wheel. Just keep practicing.
