So because i said the shape looked a little like the civic it means i'm confirming that civics are in  wow

My comment wasn't a jab at you specifically. (I am sorry if it seemed that way), but rather a hit at REALLY reaching for things further than what is "officially" 'confirmed.'

Quite frankly we have nothing more than a 2013 Dodge Viper in two different settings in an "open world" environment. Anything that is said beyond this is purely speculation and should be treated as such.

I personally hold the community of ForzaPlanet.net to a higher standard than that of FM.net; purely based on maturity, and while it may be simply the beer and sun talking, I would hope the majority of you wouldn't stoop to the level of idiacracy (sp?) seen there.

I just suggest leaving it at a Viper in an open world environment. Hoorah.

No problem mate 👍

If the physics aren't as good as Forza 4 then it's a pointless game for me. Won't offer anything TDU doesn't except a few more cars.

Seeing as TDU doesn't even offer a satisfying handling model at all and arcade games such as PGR and NFSHP do, even then it would offer more than TDU.

To be honest, I am tired of open world games with arcade physics. If I wanted to play one of those, there's already quite a few decent titles on the market.

That being said, I really hope this game takes advantage of the current (or some more advanced form) of the Forza game engine. Weather and day/night transitions would be amazing... But I'll hold my breath until some more official info is announced at E3 this year instead of speculating off of the screenshot and cover art.

PS. I really hope this game doesn't contain some features TDU had that made it.. Well, you (may) know

Looks good to me, one thing I've noticed though is that in the background of the cover shot there's what looks to be some kind of festival. Here's hoping this doesn't go down a whole uber-rad-extreme-awesome-dope-stoked-gnarly theme
This is the only thing I'm concerned about.

Actually one thing of TDU that they steal is having people. Because then my GF will play and drive around in her pink viper. But its okay if that's not implemented.

Whilst I'd be ecstatic if it was Forza physics, pretty much mind = blown actually, even if it was a decent simcade drive like the PGR series I'd still love it.

Why magenta, oh why!?!?!?!

It's looks girlish.

It wouldn't have been my first choice, but.... Insecure?

I'd rather not, but I suspect so.

HBK
Lots of questions still pending.

60fps ?

Physics ?

Customization ?

These are necessary if it's going to earn the Forza title on the box.

It all sounds and looks good so far, but I'm not holding my breath for Forza style physics. I honestly think its gonna be more in line with simcade style physics. I really hope I'm wrong though!!

If it doesn't match Forza Motorsport physics, it has no business being branded "Forza". It better have FM physics.

PGR physics would be awesome

I enjoyed PGR, but I don't want a game with the Forza name having PGR physics.

So you wouldn't buy it because of that?

Xbox has been missing a decent PGR game for a while now, I think Horizon is MS & Playground wanting to bring that back fused with open world. The Forza brand is hot right now, arguably hotter than the PGR name has ever been, also if they are using the forza assets such as car models, even if it was called PGR Horizons people would have dubbed it forza unofficially anyway once they had the game in the disc tray, just as they dub fm's nordschleife a PGR by-product.

It really doesn't matter what the game is called as long as it's good. An open world racing game with PGR physics is a win in my book, and if you frequent the TDU forums the consensus is arcade style physics > sim physics, and I think the same applies to the majority of gamers, I know most of my RL friends feel the same.

If it was called 'Forza Motorsport: Horizon' then I'd agree. But it isn't. It is clearly designed to appeal to a different market, most likely more arcadish than sim. That said, I'd love FM4's physics in this game, and they could stick a load of assists on top to make it more accessible, which we can turn off.

I just hope it has every road car from FM4+DLC. Because an open world and an E28 M5 will be heaven to me...

Pink is good enough for Subaru Tecnica International.

This.

Physics schmisics, if it's got a GT/Forza-caliber car list and open roads, it'll be a guaranteed homerun. Even if it doesn't quite have everything from FM4 (no Porsche again?).

All I know is, playing it for the first time and seeing what they've done with the open world is going to be a highlight of my year, along with doing the same in GTA V.

Here's hoping they have long open roads, a nice selection of dusty back roads, tight mountain roads and boulevards by the sea. Open sections between each road so the Wrangler and Raptor can do their stuff will be even better.

Fingers crossed E3 is when a lot more detail comes our way, as I'm bursting to know more.

Well, the only hurdle they really have to get over is licensing, and I could understand the Porsche pack not being in Horizon (most are race cars anyway!) but pretty much everything else should be there. I mean, it's most likely going to be a copy+paste job.

Wasn't there Porsches' in the trailer they showed? I think they showed Porsche in Horizon before they even announced it as DLC for FM4.

There were, but there was also footage of people dancing at a concert, so it's possible that they aren't in the game.

I haven't had Forza 4 long. Glad they're bringing out another. If this is basically TDU with Forza's graphics/physics it should be excellent.

Well, welcome to the series and the forums

And like you say, we really need someone to bring something new to this genre. TDU2 was set to be epic, but was let down (severely) by the physics and bugs that riddled the game. If Horizon is running on FM4's physics engine, with it's carlist then all we need is a huge open world and it will be absolutely incredible.

I think we need to temper expectations some guys. If FM4 is pushing the 360 hardware as they claim then something on the level of an openworld Forza is going to have to make some tradeoffs somewhere. Something , somewhere is going to take a hit. FPS, Graphics, physics, something but I highly doubt it's going to be what we're all expecting or rather hoping for.

backtracking to physics in open world games for a second; How comparable are the TDU2 physics compared to GTA IV?

The GTA IV car handling imo was superior to TDU1. There were a few things in TDU that were so annoying like the gravity and weird characteristics for wheelspin and oversteer situations. but still the overall open world experience overcame those things. The GTA VI car physics with a little automotive-centred finesse would work really well.

Even the GTA physics seem to be niche judging by many comments around release of that game such as 'realistic handling belongs in GT and Forza not GTA' etc, and they're probably why I can own people in online races if they are kept clean - if there are any to join - least popular game modes there by far.

Anyway, both these games are 30fps with reasonable graphics and open world, I think this is what we will be getting. Dear god, please let this be PGR4: Horizon. The game still looks stunning today imo and the bike handling makes TDU look stupid

If it does turn out to be very PGR-like.. Oh the irony of this video

Correct on both accounts, def the first part.

Don't know if you guys saw this; but, I find it odd that Brian Ekberg (T10 Comm. Manager) would include this in the latest Week in Review.

On the day we released the Horizon screenshot on our official Facebook page, I put an open-ended question to readers: What are you most looking forward to doing in Forza Horizon? Now, of course, we haven’t said a lot about the game so far, so everyone’s responses were coming from a place of pure uninformed enthusiasm. Some of my favorite responses from the hundreds of comments:
*
“A Forzatographer dream come true!”*
“Did someone say roadtrip!! :)”*
“Sweet open road driftin hells yeah”*
“The Famous FORZA PHYSICS in free roam”*
“Cruising in classic cars with my friends it will be the best!”*

Hype or a hint?

I'm not holding my breath... Odd nonetheless.

My opinion: Pure unadulterated hype.
