First Impressions of GT5P after years of GT4

Sixaxis controller (original) sucks so bad, it doesn't even compare to the old DS2. If you have a sixaxis get a wheel.

I believe the DS3 has had some improvements? (other than vibrate function) If it hasn't, then get a wheel.

GT4 was easier and the DS2 was a better controller in almost every way. I would recommend getting a DFGT or something for GT5, it will be much better than the pad.

I have DS3 (...4 of them O_O ) and I know what you mean about the DS2 being better, but I guess I'll have to wait for GT5 and see if they made improvemnts for controller, because I actually like the DS3 a lot in other games ( racing games included ).
Also I know some people are really fast on GT5P using the D-pad, I might give that a try, too. ;)
It's really not only the cost of a wheel, but also lack of space and comfort, I try everything to not to buy one. :)

I'm using the Sixaxis controller on the Spec III update and find it to be enough for me at the moment. Maybe I'll buy a wheel soon, but definitely plan on getting one before the full game comes out.

As others have said, you may occasionally get bored with the game, but will pick it up again and enjoy it just as much. Recently I have been starting up the game to just pick a well tuned car and run some laps around Daytona Road or Suzuka just for fun. 👍

About a month ago I bought a new ps3 along with GT5P to tie me over until the full version of Gran Turismo 5. While the graphics absolutely blew me away, I couldn't help but notice that the new game was lacking that very disinct feeling of being connected to the road that GT4 had. Despite the vibration from controller, I would say it feels a lot more like I'm floating above the road.

I'm not sure if it's the wireless controller, or the new physics engine, or a combination of the two, but there is definitely is something lacking in the experience. Also, the sheer fear of coming of the road a high speeds just ins't there like it was in GT4, but I can't put my finger on it.

Can anyone else relate to what I'm saying?

I have had the DFP wheel since GT4 and I can tell you that it is not just the controller that you are using. Even using the wheel going from GT4 to GT5P there is a certain disconnection with the road, El-Capitain and Eiger are a perfect example. like you said in one of your posts, you definately had to set up for the jump in El-Capitain, or crash, but in Eiger you can hit that jump full throttle and sideways and still land perfect. I assume that is because GT5P is only a demo and GT4 was the full monty. With that in mind GT5 should have all those bugs worksd out by the time it is released, so chin up bro. I feel your pain.

I don't know, in El Capitain the jump was right after a sharp turn, and at very high speed. I'd always slow down enough so my car didn't get airborne - with the narrowness of the road and the turns before and after it, I found discretion to be the better part of valor. In Eiger it's on a straightaway and I don't think you can hit it at such high speeds. And I've managed to crash plenty of times in the faster cars, even when just moderately off course :) Try it in the Citreon GT - if you don't let off the throttle in midair, you'll go for a good spin.
