It wasn't as scary as it looked but it could still be a handful at times.
Aren't RUFs and Porsche supposed to be like that all about?
It wasn't as scary as it looked but it could still be a handful at times.
Yes.. but I also like to feel like I am in some control of what the car does too. PD gave these cars no love at all so being able to drive these cars is what this FITT event is all about for me.Aren't RUFs and Porsche supposed to be like that all about?
Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it. I found chassis reinforcement huge on this car, generally I don't like to use it as I have it makes most cars worse in my opinion, or does very little. But for some it really helps, I took 1.5 off and found more consistency with it. Obviously, I run the same line so the S curves were not that big of an issue and I got down to mid 2.03s. But I can see it Maybe not being easy for others. If that was the only place it really was off for you, I'll take it. And you mirrored my time.As I promised, I took the top CTR2's out to see if a good car is hiding within. At first I started without CR and I thought, what a piece of 🤬. With it installed the car was transformed, I could not believe the difference it made. Had I known it would have this big of an effect, I might have submitted a tune too.
@coryclifford
Loved your tune and it's pretty much how I would have made mine, albeit with a little bit more rotation. Excellent on throttle balance between 4WD split and front/rear grip. Felt very go-kart, very RGT like in the S-Curves. Was an absolute dog without CR though. I was around mid 2's after a few laps.
@Bowtie-muscle
Took yours out second and unfortunately at least for me it wasn't as good as cory's. Wasn't as agile in the S-Curves with significantly more understeer and reluctance present. If I wasn't perfect in the entry it was impossible to recover relative to the ghost because the car would just push wide. Rest of the lap was relatively equal due to the long straights. I was around the low/mid 3's.

Loved your tune
I was surprised about the fastest time in all honesty, with so little changes to the transmission, I would have thought that a specially tuned transmission would have been faster but your entry was a surprise in the lap time department.
He wasn't on the tuner list but I will check with Otaliema.is @xande1959 in the Open track day challenge?

Open Track Day Class Testing
All tunes were given 9 laps due to time limitations on my part. Tested with DS3, AT transmission and X button. I didn’t feel like captain slow in these cars for some reason. The standard of submissions for this class was supreme and I thoroughly enjoyed testing all of your tunes. Anyway, here are the reviews.
@TheInfamousJEW6
Best Lap Time – 2.08.163
DC – 10th
Tune Comments – A little loose in the rear at times, not enough grip for some corner exit and occasionally inconsistent with turn in when going through a quick succession of corners. However, Great transmission, LSD works well with the 50:50 weight distribution and although weighing nearly 1.5 tonnes, it didn’t feel slow or cumbersome. Had good balance if you were on the right lines and if I could get throttle control perfect, it flowed through the esses very nicely. A bit more grip and this tune would have jumped in DC. A good job with a car that is not very easy to tune for this track. Well done.
@Otaliema
Best Lap Time – 2.06.444
DC – 8th
Tune Comments – I will start with good things, Transmission well designed, the gear spacing was really good which helped control wheel spin. Front rotation was good, nice levels of grip available at all times through the 4wd design. Awesome breaks though. Very good at stopping in a stable and efficient manner. A few issues I had personally was mid corner understeer which caused me to red lap quite a few times and the transmission final gear was a little short for me. This tune was easy to spin if you caught a part of the track that wasn’t tarmac and although the Lift off steering did help safe some accidents, it caused the car to become too twitchy at times for me costing me time. I could drive round some of these issues but it took a lot of concentration and I was never entirely sure what the car was going to do.
@Bowtie-muscle
Best Lap Time – 2.06.300
DC – 1st
Tune Comments – Everything about this tune worked wonderfully. It was driver intuitive, great grip, great rotation, well designed transmission and joyous to drive. Neutral balance throughout the esses and easy to place and change driving lines when needed. Epic tune and I will be keeping the keys to this one.
@joaosoarescso
Best Lap Time – 2.07.442
DC – 9th
Tune Comments – This RWD CTR2 is strange to drive at first but round about lap 7, it started coming together. It wasn’t an easy tune to adapt to and it was twitchy coming out of the hairpin bends. The rears could also spin up and lose traction out of slow corners if you weren’t careful with the throttle. Finding the balance is key to this tune and I found it twice in 9 laps. Now for the good things. Good front rotation, well designed transmission and the LSD was perfect when you was in the groove. The brakes were also very good. Inconsistency was this cars Achilles heel for me. A good attempt though.
@Brewguy44
Best Lap Time – 2.05.981
DC – 3rd
Tune Comments – Good rotation, well balanced, really good brakes, transmission well designed, weight distribution felt easy to drive with and this tune was consistent in lap times. I noticed a small amount of mid corner understeer at times but nothing that hurt the lap time drastically. This is a really good tune and one that I could have driven around all day long. Awesome work.
@lBt_33
Best Lap Time – 2.06.354
DC – 7th
Tune Comments – The front rotation is good, Corner entry is snug but grippy although I detected minor understeer at times mid corner. The loose rear was effective at helping guide the car through some corners but it also created some power over steer moments which caused the car instability and cost lap time. The brakes were excellent but the transmission was a little too long in the final gear. It could have been shorter and helped with quicker acceleration to top speeds. A good tune and with a few minor tweaks, this could be up with the top tunes for me. Well done.
@coryclifford
Best Lap Time – 2.05.311
DC – 6th
Tune Comments – You have changed very little on the tune and for the most part, the tune feels good to drive. There were a few issues with LSD where the rears would spin out accelerating out of slow corners and the brakes were not always consistent in their stopping power (in part down to the same LSD levels front and rear). Transmission felt sluggish compared to other cars but it had no actual effect on the lap time it could produce. A little trickery here could have made this car awesomely quick. The front rotation was good, balance of the car was good but it could develop power oversteer if you weren’t careful. A nice tune but this could have been top with a few more changes to the default settings.
@hall90
Best Lap Time – 2.06.946
DC – 4th
Tune Comments – A safe, aggressive tune that inspires confidence and makes me feel like a better driver in this tune. Push this tune too far, it has a tendency to understeer but only when you reach the limits of this car. Great turn in, very good rotation and mid corner stability. The corner exit was very good too. Brakes were awesome as was the transmission design. An excellent example of 4wd tuning that is safe and fast. The only issue I had with this tune is slight understeer on some of the fast corners but to change that would upset the balance of this amazing tune in my opinion. Great job!
@shaunm80
Best Lap Time – 2.05.342
DC – 2nd
Tune Comments – Good rotation and grip. Inspires confidence. Brakes are good and consistent. Good transmission design which helps with traction and LSD settings that help minimise wheel spin. A consistent tune that tells the driver exactly what is going on, and is easy to save should you reach the limits of the car.
@Ale67
Best Lap Time – 2.05.652
DC – 5th
Tune Comments – Good rear traction out of the slow corners, great front rotation and good acceleration too. I detected some mid corner understeer, which caused me a few issues, but managed to drive my way around it with some throttle blipping. Whilst this tune is confidence inspiring, I had to take it easy in some parts of the track that were flat (full acceleration) for other tunes but again, this didn’t seem to hurt the lap time too much. One issue was the transmission. It was too short for me and I was bouncing near the redline on the end of the long straights, the final gear needed to be a little longer but otherwise, this tune is pretty good indeed. Good work.
You stayed quiet on this one, my friend! Glad to see you put this in.👍RUF CTR2 "96

Tune Comments – Great rotation, good grip levels, can get a little feisty at times but is very controllable, As you mentioned, understeer can appear but it isn’t too bad at all and it doesn’t affect the lap time either. Transmission is a little short, could have been extended a bit. Really nice tune and very nice to drive. Like brewguy, RUF cars seem to suit you. Good job

Well, here it is, my test & review on this amaxing track with these amazing cars, some were quite fun others were a handful but overall a great way to learn tuning.

First impressions was that i thought this was going to be really stable, and it is if you keep her within the cars limitations. Going through the 1st corner and the red outside tire was red glowing, and pretty much was like that all the way, even at high speed corners it was always like that.
The car feels heavy on cornering and once i learned how to drive her way it was a nice experience, but it wasn't enough for a good lap so 2 last laps is when I was pushing her really hard and the last lap was the fastest.If i kept like that i was afraid i would burn the front tires because in 2 laps they had a little tiny little bit of orange.
I really had high hopes but i guess it doesn't fit quite well on me. Good lap though

Tune Comments - Very very easy to drive on the limit and very unforgiving if you pass that limit, the way the LSD and torque slipt are virtually perfect. There's a little of understeer on corner entry and exit too, but no oversteer, even on the limit the rear end would stick and only come out to correct a bad entry corner, but if i pushed to hard the front outside tire would turn orange like @TheInfamousJEW6 CTR2 but less noticeable. I felt that the 4th gear was a little short to my taste but the rest was good, this was the only car that reached 287km/h!!!! at the end on the home straight, and still i found the gearbox was a little tiny bit short, but now i see why it was designed like that.

A very precise tune, it has almost no understeer at all with a little bit of oversteer on lower corners, the brakes were my bigger concern, i couldn't find a comfortable braking zone and i think that shows on the time. This car is really good and really fast, but not at my hands, i just couln't find its hidden speed.

I hate reviewing my own tunes, but well here its what i think. I'm terrible tuning 4WD so after a couple of initial laps i thought it would be quite easy until i started to mess with the LSD, and i thought "ohh boy this is going to be hard", but in this car description they mention a 2WD CTR2 so why not? I threw the front LSD out the window and focus on eliminating as much oversteer as possible, and i'm happy with the results, it's not the fastest of the group and it drives in a unique way. A little bit of tap braking here and there and throttle control should do the trick.
When live gives you lemons you make lemonade, i made orange juice.

Tune Comments - This is a very very very stable car, with a little bit of understeer on entering a corner and out, and that rear was surely planted, she wobbles changing directions to quickly making the front slide briefly.
I was getting blue lap after lap, and jumped from the 2:06 to 2:04 halfway through, but on the last couple laps i really tried hard to push her for a good lap and those front tires wouldn't grip, and by the time i notice that i would go off track it was impossible to recover, overall a great tune.

Tune Comments - Ok, first of all, if you drive it using the bumper view, if you hear it carefully, i love the sound the gearbox does in 5th gear at around 6000rpm, it sounds like a supercharger , i don't know if it happened by chance or if it was intentional, but i love it!! It haves the perfect amount of oversteer on slower corners, but it haves a slightly hint of understeer on high speed corners, under than that, the gearbox is perfect for this car it was the only one that could keep up with otaliema CTR2 on the home straight, and it drives quite nice, no major flaws.

Tune Notes - When i saw the setting to this i was a little dissapointed , and my first impressions were that, i wasn't expecting a good time, but i got suprised.
It feel like a TT car, with the tail sliding going full out, sliding all the corners. it understeers and oversteers ALOT if you aren't careful enough with that throttle coming out of slower corners, and on high speed corners it kinda understeers, i can't explain quite well...
Overall this is a good car and very fast, but not by me, like @Bowtie-muscle tune I can't unlock its hidden speed.

The rear is planted, even if i push it, it really doesn't want to kick out, which if it was a little bit tiny loose i think I would be a little faster.THe gearbox feels long, almost feeling like a 5 speed but i found enough speed and space for 6th, it feels the slowest of them all on the straights and i think its down to the PP.

Tune Comments - There's 2 types of understeer, the one that where the front of the car pulls out of the corner and when the front push into the inside of the corner and this car haves both, On medium to slow corners it would push in and on medium to high speed it would pull out. If i changed directions to quickly that rear would just give up on me and start sliding around.
The gearbox was short but fast like otaliema one, but i couldn't find a rythm right until the end and managed a good time.
