Still hoping for xbox vr support.
One of the best places to take off from is RAF Valley in north Wales ( biased as it’s my local airbase) :D if you depart from runway 13 and just fly arrow straight from it then it takes you right towards Snowdon which is epic to fly over in VR on my way to the Mach Loop 👍
i was thinking of doing this so thanks, is the Mach loop quite easy to find ?

It’s easy for me to find as I live quite near there :D and there’s actually a few routes to take to get there, plenty of vids on YouTube MSFS to show you ( my own included)

The installer on this is second only to RFactor 2 for the idiocy of design and use.

Nearly done.

I’d highly recommend doing the flight school too, although it’s very tempting to just jump into a airliner first :D

I've started working my way through them, managed to get to the point of landing (damn it's been a very long time since I've used a flight sim), but all is forgiven, as it's quite frankly stunning.

The TBM was the plane I flew most when first starting out, really enjoy flying it although most other planes don’t get much of a look in now with my beloved F-15 being unleashed, the Aermacchi MB-339 is another fantastic jet too, so many 3rd party add ons it’s hard to choose, although the small matter of a Supermarine Spitfire being released on Friday pleases me,I’m guessing the white cliffs of Dover will be rather a busy place in multiplayer

I managed my first flight, take off and landing between two local airfields yesterday.

It certainly wasn’t neat and ATC will most certainly want a word, but no one, so that’s a plus.

Only thing that I would like, and I’m sure a mod exists for it, it a better in flight map, mainly so I can fly over places I know.

Since I fly VR most of my time now I don’t get much time doing VFR flying, but when I do I have this app open on my iPad and it works brilliantly, I had the same issue with the not so detailed map so this was a godsend and exactly what you’re looking for, I can wholeheartedly recommend it 👍

Edit: pretty sure there’s an android version too if you’re not into Apple’s ecosystem

Will take a look, have access to both ecosystems so I’m good either way.

Thanks

Liking the King Air huh, it’s a great plane to fly quite forgiving too
I haven't flown enough different planes to have a favourite yet, but it's definitely my favourite livery. I prefer the slow stuff too. I have no inclination to fly the big jets.

I've loved the passenger jets since FS5, flew them almost exclusively in FSX and P3D. In this version I prefer the GA planes - the default airliners are glitchy and somehow unsatisfying. That's with the notable exception of the free community-developed FlyByWire mod for the default A320. That's awesome. Still, general aviation flying is suddenly massively more satisfying now that you can look down and navigate by familiar road junctions.

And I'd never heard of Barra until you mentioned it earlier (shame on me), god it's lovely.

With these graphics and ground details, I don't want to fly high and fast. Low n slow is where it's at.

My favourite thing about landing on Barra beach is when you're told to exit the runway onto the next taxiway! How do I know I'm even on the runway?

I had a look at them but as I've got a extended screen on my PC, I had a look for something that would fit there rather than an Android app. I found one called "Find my Plane" which works well.

I really hope the Series X Xbox version that is supposed to come out later in the year is ok, as much as I want to play this I don't really want to build a new PC for it as my PC gaming days are pretty much over.

Sooo, the Spitfire is a wee bit twitchy on take off and landing, something I’m sure will be fine after a few flights practice but holy moly, she flies like a dream once she’s trimmed out and the attention to detail in the modelling of this aircraft is just unreal..not tried in VR yet but I’m guessing I ain’t gonna be disappointed..

a flight from RAF Valley over Snowdonia towards the Loop, I kinda edited my bobbins first ever take off out of the video... ( it was merde)

First pic is one I took at Lakenheath last year, my absolute favourite plane ever and the Heritage paint scheme is fantastic, so to finally have it in the sim now pleases me greatly

I'm in two minds whether to get this, but I only have a laptop at the moment, albeit with the right specs (I think...) 8GB RAM, i5 processor etc., but how are the controls on a PC/laptop, can you just use the keyboard or should you get some peripherals?

It's a pity this isn't on PS4, as I have PSVR (though don't use it much), but I won't be buying any more VR kit since it makes me feel too queasy. Rather, I reckon I might buy a higher-end monitor or perhaps a projector (which I was looking into anyway), and hence that would be cool for a flight sim, but for the moment I'd be playing it on a laptop screen which kind of feels like it might not be so good.... thoughts/tips?

I'm currently using a gamepad on PC and it's fine, I will most likely be investing in a stick of some sort in the future (but have no intention of going mad in that regard) and have played it on my laptop screen (15"), but mainly use my 32" monitor for it. While the monitor is obviously better, it by no means unusable on the laptop screen.

Must confess I've not tried it with keyboard, but did use both a PS4 controller and my PowerA Fusion controller and both are fine.

I dusted off my MS Sidewinder Precision Pro 2 at first, which was fine but MSF didn't have a profile for it and it was a pain to setup. I've since got a Logitech Extreme 3d Pro which feels better and has a couple more buttons, and a built in MSF profile.
