Also, congrats to RT, amazing pace on the final laps of the race. I just couldnt hold on.

I made the mistake of staying out longer than Adam to lead a lap for the bonus points, which cost me some time. After the first pit stop I pulled off several 33.5's and even a 33.4 trying to reel you in, just couldn't do it so I went into conservation mode. I guess your tires started going because I ended up catching you anyway towards the end of that stint.

Funny you pitted when you did, because I was planning on coming in that lap anyway. Then after the second pit stop I ran a 32.8 in there trying to keep you within my grasp.

Good stuff. :dopey:

gah have to stop the race 'cause I couldn't block out my Skype conversation LOL.

So I'm uploading the whole thing to Youtube so I'll post the link here when it's done.

Congratulations to Aderrrm. You did what everyone predicted to happen. Also, congrats to RT, amazing pace on the final laps of the race. I just couldnt hold on. Finally, a huge thanks to everyone and in special to RT for an amazing season.

BRING ON SEASON 4!!!

Great job Nepal. You had quite a race 👍

outlaw4rc's Racing Report

Started 4th, Finished 5th

Laguna Seca served as the finale for the Flying Miata Super Cup season and it was a track where Team Red Bull/Outlaw had concerns. Pre-season testing revealed that the car lacked the pace of the top competitors and it proved true in the qualifying session when the car only managed 4th.

"The car just wasn't turning like I wanted and I only got one or two clean laps in."

When the green flag dropped, outlaw tried to keep pace with the Top 3 but massive understeer made him lose them and was soon under relentless attack from Team CSL for multiple laps. Then, about 15 laps in, outlaw locked up the brakes entering the Andretti Hairpin, allowing CSL to take the position. Soon after, however, CSL made an error at the corkscrew and the drive took advantage and retook the position. outlaw then entered the pits two laps later for some fresh rubber and re-entered deep in the pack. After the cycle of pit stops, he was 5th but CSL, using a one-stop strategy, pitted about halfway through the race.

"When the team calculated the delta times yesterday, everything pointed towards using a two-stop strategy as the lap times went down to the 36s at the end of the run. I didn't think it was going to work for them.

outlaw pressed on but even in clean air, the car struggled and the lap times were at least half a second off his qualifying time. The race was uneventful until after the last pit stop.

"When I pitted, the crew told me that based on the times, I would need to push the car to catch up to CSL. It was risky to do so since Team Spyhunter weren't that far behind and an error in my part would get him right behind me."

After exiting the pits, outlaw decided to push the car for the remainder of the stint and finally found his pace, running high 33s and 34 flats and with 2 laps to go, CSL was within its sights. However, the aggressive driving had taken a toll on the tires and his pace dropped off. On the last lap, outlaw finally caught the draft and entering the kink, near-disaster struck.

"I went in a little fast and I downshifted to 3rd to compensate but the rear really kicked out on me and I drifted through there. Don't know how I hung on but I did but it cost me a lot of time.

The driver pressed on and was right on the bumper of CSL at the final corner. However, he ran out of track and CSL held onto 4th by a narrow margin, his one-pit strategy a success.

"It took forever for the car to come in and because of that, I don't think we finished where we wanted but there's only so much we can do with these cars. The understeer is so hard to compensate for.

Team RBO finished the season accomplishing the goal of winning a race and are aiming for more next season.

Overall, we've had some adversity this year but we overcame it and got ourselves a win. Congratulations to Adam for the championship. He flat out dominated and deserves holding the trophy. I'm not sure we have that kind of pace but that won't stop the team from trying to find it.

Thanks carracer, that was the best race I ever had, I dont remember pushing myself this much before. :scared: Amazing. I can still feel all the nerves kicking in.

Was hoping for a lucky lap in qualifying, managed a PB 33.9xx which got me 5th.
Started in 5th, and stayed there for quite some time, outlaw wasn't leaving enough room to pass and forced was up my ass.
And holy hell can this guy brake into corners, I've never seen someone brake so late, I couldn't tell if he was faster and being held up or not though, even tried to find a way to let him by without losing outlaws draft, but only slowed us down a bit trying.
As I'd hoped, most of the field did 2 stops, so I cruised out and lead a few laps on my 1 stopper, which may or may not have been faster, I'm really not sure tbh. I usually make more big mistakes on multi-stoppers, but more little mistakes on 1 stoppers.
Came out of the pits in 6th or 7th, passed a car or two and others I was catching pit in, eventually got up to Nepalli coming out the second time, with RT following out of his draft. Passed Nepalli, a few turns later his tires were warm, and they were both gone in a lap.
Looking back I had 20+ second to outlaw, thought 4th was in the bag and started cruising, even got dangerously sloppy, and then he started gaining, not like he had been, but running me down like a dog. 4 laps to go and he's about 4 seconds behind, I'm running a 27 lap tire stint here, and need to run low 35's to keep him off at the line.:scared: Lap goes by, 35.3, and it looks like 35.3 might not be good enough, need a phantom 34, lap 35.3, "ok, two more 35.3's and I have him". Final lap, he has my draft, heading into turn one, I'm screwed. Baby it into every turn, praying I don't slow down to much, every corner he was a little bit closer, until the corkscrew, he made an oopsy, I gained a few tenths to breath, and by the final turn he was barreling up beside, I braked to early, almost cut the inside of the turn and slowed way down, but he got stuck behind me. "whew" But then he was beside me again, getting full draft and a better run out of the turn, he pulled up, beside, and I clipped him by a bumper, literally.
0.048 seconds IIRC.

Normally, I wouldn't play defense like that but hey, it's the world championship race. That, and I was mad that I lost the leader's draft.

I saw that on the track map. That's just nuts. I might have been able to do that if I had the 9/8 brake setting.

I finally had the sense to say "screw it" and run hard, not like I had been the prior 30+ laps. I was overly concerned about having an off, especially at the kink. I was easily about half a second slower because I was so afraid to make a mistake.

You were still running 35s? No wonder I wasn't catching up like I thought I would. :ill:

What is with me and close finishes? I hope everyone enjoyed watching that.

Watched a little of the stream, just now, Wardez. Good stuff! However, I am not an Auto-x National champion. I got 2nd. ;) Thanks, though!!

I just couldn't find it. That track and this car together... Great job to the top guys. Amazing times you were able to get out of the car. Really was hoping to finish in the top 5 in the race, but too many mistakes.

This wasn't my best race this season but trooped on regardless :P, really struggled to to keep up at the start. Managed to keep with spy ahead of me for awhile then he made a mistake and I passed him. Then I just started making silly mistakes and ended up losing 2 places before the first stint was over.

Should of really done 2 stops as I destroyed my tires on the first stint with all the mistakes but stuck to the plan and ran a ok second stint didn't have the pace to reel in Dr watson but held on to 8th or 2nd last :D. Which is really where I started even though a few people left

Anyway Congrats to aderrrm, and congrats to Jason for a running this awsome series. Hope to see you all in season 4 :D

2nd overall, only stopped by the might alien GTP_Aderrrm. Satisfied with my performance throughout the whole season. Season 4, Im aiming for that 1st place! :dopey:

Hey carracer, so you do modeling and you wanted to "3D'ify" the FMSC 4 logo, but do you know title animation?

'cause I wanted to make a slash screen intro thing for future FMSC videos and streams that would go at the top of the videos.

Edit: @ Wardez - 3D logo is already made. :)

I have a good hunch that Aderrrm would win. I saw him once or twice every race. He has astonishing speed with that car.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Been a great end of the season for me. Had a couple bad races @ twin cities and spa going into Madrid which was a track I had horrible experiences with. Practicing with outlaw and forced (yeah he does brake otherworldly late, following his and the other nicks NE ghosts around was frustrating) got me speed and confidence I didn't know I could have and finished pretty strong with a lag-crash on a long-shot pit strategy. Collected enough points to start on the front row at the WC.
Got my soul crushed by CSL in the wildcard but it was still a much better drive than I thought I had in me though still marred by an off. So I was quite pleased to be able to hop in.

Thanks for letting me in at quite literally the last minute. Ran 1.5 laps and right into qualifying.

Good thing I threw away a sure podium in PURE to get some Laguna Seca practice in this morning rather than get consistent in the GT-R... totally worth it 👍 I got *just* enough practice to know how I needed to drive. Ran my pb on my last lap in qualifying, still so off pace I started in 10th.
After that I had zero recon for how long the tires would last, so based on my long 24 lap stint at Madrid and how Laguna Seca tends to be easy on wear I figured I'd just cut the race in half and motor as quick as I could manage for 26 laps. Apparently I stayed out the longest. I made a wee bobble at the beginning of the race that slid me to 12th and then I just drove the most solid I've managed grinding out laps. Was excellent fun. Saw every car in the race at some point starting with Aderrrm as he was coming out from his 1st stop (he was that far ahead  ) after his tires warmed up he was g.o.n.e.

That process repeated it self several times as each of the front runners warmed up their tires and roared by. I have to say, i didn't think it would be a pleasure to be passed... but you all individually went around me on the run up to the corkscrew like gentleman. It's rare that I can give someone a position with such little drama or really any time loss. 👍

After the practicing this morning, walking the puppy, then running the pure race in the afternoon, then right into the mx5 for the final race. That was a bit much. By lap 40-ish when spyhunter had come out from his last stop I was motoring along and really wanted to try and stay with him but my right calf started to give up. I had to will it through the last 10 laps of 1:36... surprisingly physical ordeal standing on the clubsport springs all day.

Started 10th, fell to 12th, finished 7th. Awesome end to a great season. Congrats to Aderrrm for being a robot. Nepalii for crushing our division and putting in a great show today. RT for organizing another great year and from what I saw scanning over wardez's stream putting in a great run using every cm of the track.

p.s. Div 3 rules.
go losers bracket... you kicked ass this weekend CSL 👍

I want to thank Wardez for streaming the race and for commenting on the race as well. Just fantastic work man, I watched the whole thing, and felt great to relive one of the best races I ever had. 👍 Great stuff. Also, thanks for the upload to youtube. :)

Edit: TnJ, loved reading your post and YES you are right D3 is the best. D3 FTW!!

Congratulations on winning Adam, I kind of knew you would. ^^;

I don't...do series, at all really. I decided to try it for the first time. So thank you all for the experience. Sadly I couldn't get it together for the last race...combination of things. I had a few exams this week, one Saturday morning. And I wasn't feeling very well. A few other things also, but it would have been nice to finish off my introduction to GTP Series racing. Maybe I'll see you guys around sometime, though I will not likely do another Series anytime soon. But that is a reflection on myself, and my personality, rather than a reflection of the fine people I raced with, for the most part. ^^

-I will probably do some Madrid shots...and if someone uploads Laguna (and Suzuka even, hah) I'll do some there. Perhaps.

Here's a rip from the broadcast stream for you all the enjoy:

Thanks for the kind words and support of my streaming, sure is a lot of fun 👍.

Just for fun, I went back to Laguna and tuned the suspension and aerodynamics to see how much faster I can go and honestly, I'm surprised at the results. My PB was a 1:33.6 and with the car tuned, all I got was a 1:33.28, not even enough to get pole for the race.

I will say that my pace was much more consistent, running mid 33s with ease.

Cheers guys. Been a great season. :)👍

I'm sure Season 4 will raise the bar even more and I already can't wait to participate in a race like Laguna yesterday with such a high calibre of racing. 👍

Thanks to RT for putting on an awesome show and to everyone else who made it happen. 👍
