This partnership is pretty sweet in my book. I just hope there's more tracks than Sebring, Road Atlanta, Road America and Laguna Seca. Personally I would like at least Lime Rock.

Also this partnership raises even more questions about Porsche. The GTC class is entirely Porsche GT3 Cup cars, and there's a handful of Porsches like the GT3 RSR race models in GT class. This weekend alone at Mid Ohio there were 33 car entries and 11 were Porsches.

Would be awesome if we have to qualify and all. I hope it's not just tacked on like 'ALMS brings you the 45minutes of Sebring' and you just pick the race, with only a presence of an ALMS/IMSA logo. I hope they thought it out right and maybe we'll get some flag system in too. I know I'm shooting for the stars but we can want it, no!?

Hm... this is just an idea, but even if T10 won't get the Porsche license, couldn't it be possible to use the Porsche race cars due to the ALMS license? It might cover the cars that participate there...

That's true, but a sponsorship deal with ALMS and excluding an entire class just doesn't make any sense... Porsche's been in other classes like GT with the successful Flying Lizard team, and even had their RS Spyder in P2/LMPC believe in 2009

Maybe, and I'll be happy if that happens but I still want the road cars as well as the historic classics like the 917k.

I don't know how many of you have done races like these before in Forza 3 but let me tell you it's a load of fun. Trying to compete against your class of racers and then have to contend with slower/faster traffic is a ton of fun. I'm not really sweating the flag system for the simple fact my group and I have been racing for almost 2 years without it but it would be sweet to have it in. I'm just really excited and bummed out at the same time though. Excited we can have 16 players and that they are seriously bringing in ALMS in some type of capacity. But I'm bummed that now that it looks like all the ALMS stars are lining up Porsche might be out :(

This announcement is cleverly done. You can't confirm or deny Porsche being out with this although it's looking even worse as it goes along. Here's the deal though. If they take Porsche out and they have 26 ALMS cars in as they said then they'd pretty much have to have EVERY car in but Porsche to have that number. I think there would have to be a mix of Porsche's in there to get that number though. I don't think they're gonna waste time with some of the scrub ass LMP and GT cars that are pretty much there as fillers in the real race.

Nothing in that article describes anything more than is already in FM3 other than an official partnership. They only list 4 tracks from this season and claim 26 cars. If I had to guess, I would say that the LMPC and GTC classes are left out and if they had all the tracks they would say that.

I'm just not too hopeful that I will get the ALMS game I really want. Hopefully this will mean that the tracks they have will be fully updated and I will have the newest ALMS cars to choose from, but I don't expect it to be much more than that.

Of the three bullet points given in the article one mention community integration with ALMS created events, which is new. Then mention of cars and tracks without saying all of them are included, giving a number for the cars that wouldn't even fill this years' sprint races. And the last one is talking about ESPN3 on XBox Live, which has zero to do with Forza.

It is that kind of vague detail that has me not getting my hopes up. I'll be buying this game anyway, so if they have a lot of integration then that is a bonus, but if they do nothing more than they had in FM3 then I am getting my minimum expectations met.

EDIT: I just noticed this. These cars are not racing this year but are shown in this article with the FM4 logo.

First I wouldn't call some of the not as successful LMP, LMPC and GT cars 'scrub ass cars' lol. Without the diesels dominating in the prototype classes, all other cars are very fast and gorgeous. RS Spyder to the Aston/Lolas to the smaller teams working with 911 GT3 RSRs, Vettes and even the latest Ferrari 458 GTRs.

And to me it depends if they mean 26 current season ALMS cars or just 26 ALMS cars in general, not counting what years. If current season then I can't see how it's even possible to get 26 cars, across 4 classes, while excluding Porsche entirely. Either Porsche is in or these 26 ALMS cars mentioned are mixed of current season, last, etc. This weekend alone at Mid Ohio there were 33 team entries and 11 of them were Porsches, where 1 entire class was GTC = all 997 GT3 Cup cars.

Oh... and if the GTC cars do come... I want JDX's gold hotness car :dopey: :

The ESPN3 on xbox doesn't have much to do with Forza aside from MS's possible promotion. The ESPN3 app is awesome, and I use it weekly during footy season while catching up on ALMS race events. It's probably a cross promotion of MS using the ESPN3 app with ALMS. ALMS has been there but I barely saw any promotion of it being in the ESPN app until now.

PD tried that with in GT3 with the Nomad Diablo and got yelled at by VW. And now that Porsche is owned by VW, I'm assuming using the race cars without their permission would have a similar result. And since only 26 ALMS cars made it in, I'd say that just might exclude the Porsches. Especially if the LMP1 and LMP2 cars are in excluding the Porsche Spyders. I mean the BMW, Aston Martin, Ford, Ferrari (include the 458GT and the F430GT) the new Nissan LMP2 (doubt it, since it was sponsored by the GT Academy) The new Toyotas, the new BMW LMPs...you could include every ALMS car except the Porsches and get 26 cars.

That's true, but a sponsorship deal with ALMS and excluding an entire class just doesn't make any sense... Porsche's been in other classes like GT with the successful Flying Lizard team, and even had their RS Spyder in P2/LMPC believe in 2009

Again, it's up to VW and Porsche. If EA owns that license and T10 can't get their hands on it, then there won't be any Porsches in the game, racing or otherwise.

I don't mean any particular car is scrub, what I meant to say was some of the scrub ass teams.

I highly doubt that VW has much say in who gets the Porsche license and who doesn't. Lamborghini, for example, is 100% VW owned, while Porsche has basically merged with VW.

Also, did GT3 feature an official licensing deal with the Nomad Diablo's race series?

Again, it's up to VW and Porsche. If EA owns that license and T10 can't get their hands on it, then there won't be any Porsches in the game, racing or otherwise.

And again, that's all still based off of assumptions. No one knows what the actual agreements nor licensing are in place aside from rumors and speculation on what's happened and what's been said. One of these is that no one is to use Porsche in any promo/advertising which can explain why we still have not heard a single word on Porsche being in FM4.

If we are to make an assumption, it is that Porsche will be in, not that it's not.

To me... this ALMS licensing gives me more backing that Porsche is in. ALMS always has 4 car classes racing at the same time, 1 (GTC) being made up entirely of Porsche. I think T10 is having fun and I'll be more disappointed now with this ALMS announcement if Porsche isn't even in it. It's one thing to not have a track or two but an entirely different thing if you miss 1 class altogether AND a few of the other Porsches in higher classes (GT, LMPC)

I don't mean any particular car is scrub, what I meant to say was some of the scrub ass teams.

Ah, I gotcha. But that's what the livery editor is for, for those smaller 'scrub ass teams' :P

As I stated in another thread, it looks to me that there is about 35 ALMS cars right now in Forza 3 (5 of them being Porsche). So unless I'm completely mistaken (it happens), something smells fishy

Well, GT5 does, actually. It does have the Super GT license, for example - it just doesn't make good use of it, which is a shame.

@t.o.'s pics.
That first one looks kind of like Lime Rock...

The challenge classes we must remember are relatively new.
They could use LMP1, LMP2, GT1, and GT2.
And from the looks of that earlier pic in this thread with the Acura, that's most likely true.

EDIT: the first pic in the article with the BMW has a "GT2" label on the back.
Not GT as it would be now.

Here is your Lizard.

Is that IRL or a screenie?
It's hard to tell nowadays.

If it's a screenshot, again, it has the GT2 label, not GT.
Meaning GTC will most likely not be included.

One thing I hope they do include is working race standing lights on the ALMS cars. In case guys don't know, these cars have 3 lights on the sides of the cars letting people know what place they are in, ie. 1st 2nd 3rd. As it is now they don't work during the race. I hope they can make them functional.

I honestly thought I was looking at FM3 until I saw the logo...

Granted it would take a bit of tuning to get FM3 to look like that.

These cars look alot better than they do in FM3 man. Can't agree with you on that one at all.
