But wait a couple months if and when it gets into production form. You better believe Steeda and FSWERKs will have it tuned up.

Won't take that long, and anyone that can get their hands on one will be tuning them.

A practical turbo option is going to be great on the Fiesta, although I'm a little worried about where the pricing would end up being. With the standard SES Fiesta already netting nearly $18K MSRP, it wouldn't surprise me to see a Fiesta ST go for nearly $23K... Just short of a V6 Mustang.

I'd personally be hoping for Ford to eventually do a bridge model between the SES and ST. I know they were talking about doing a Ken Block edition Fiesta with a sport suspension, special styling, and so on. That would be fantastic, and wouldn't carry nearly as high of a sticker price.

Seeing these cars in my neighborhood has really made me appreciate how far Ford has come, especially with more cars becoming more fuel efficient. However, I feel that this car is at a sizable (punny) disadvantage compared to the Focus - for an extra $1000-2000, you get a much bigger car that gets similar gas mileage, and is more comfortable in general. I see this as a sell only if the buyer wanted a smaller car than the Focus. So far, I have seen a fair amount of both, so Ford appealed to a large niche of customers who wanted something smaller than a Focus. Most impressive. (I initially wanted a Fiesta, but when I saw the new Focus, I believed the Focus was a better choice. My opinion stands today.)

I drove both the Fiesta and the Focus prior to making a purchase. I settled on the Focus because it was a better car in every way, it rode nicer, the handling was better and there was more space in which to carry things and people.

I'd say if the handling was a little more crisp and the ride a little more stiff, the Fiesta would have been an awesome car. Its still a great option in the sub-compact market, but the Sonic outdoes it by not attempting to provoke sportiness.

The funny thing being of course that Ford Europe has been producing cars that talented since the mid 1990s, and America has only been given them in the past few years!

Market regionalization sucks, doesn't it? Our Fiesta comes with better insulation and a sportier suspension. :P It's incredibly, immensely competent on the racetrack, but I prefer the "feel" of the Mazda2 more.

They simply tweaked the Fiesta in completely the wrong way. A small number of changes could make it a lot better, starting with a different tire choice alone. Its pretty rare that the US gets the better setup, I think the Fiat 500 was the first time ever that our "updates" became the status-quo.

Lucky us, we get the Fiesta with a stiffer standard suspension, an even stiffer "Sport" suspension, and relatively upmarket Continental "Contisport" tires. :P

Ford keeps letting rumors out that they're working on a "Sport" option for the US Fiesta. Word was that they were going to have a "Ken Block Edition." Those bastards will either:

1. Never do it, and just give us the Fiesta ST
2. Do it, make it more expensive than it should be, and don't give us the ST
3. DO NOTHING

Ken Block edition?

In other words:

1. Day-glo color selection and runny paint side decals
2. A small, chrome plastic "Gymkhana" or "DC" badge
3. "Sports fabric" seats
4. 17" wheels (colored, not silver)
5. A free pair of DC Shoes color-matched to your car
6. A 0-60 time in the nether regions of 11-12 seconds because it'll only come with the DCT and those pimpin' wheels will be hea-vay.

Production Fiesta ST announced.

North America may or may not get it. Ford is "thinking about it".

It's certainly not the first time Ford have relentlessly applied the same grill across the majority of their vehicles, infact they have quite the reputation for it by now.

They did once own Aston Martin. Perhaps they're saying, "We miss you, Aston! D:"

Personally, I think they look alright. It suits the new Mondeo/Fusion in my opinion. Although the C-Max does look like it has a 'stache. It looks pretty nice on the Focus and the Fiesta too. I'm just waiting for them to release the rally spec Fiesta. :dopey:

Looks a whole lot nicer and more upmarket than the current Fiesta; I like it.
I bet sales will pick up a little now; Americans like fancy-looking stuff and don't like to pay a fancy price for it. Look at the success Volkswagen's having with the new Passat and Jetta over here. But until I see if they've updated the interior at all, the Sonic's my favorite subcompact, other than the Mini, of course. But again, it's an improvement over the current Fiesta. 👍
