Now that I think of it the Festiva kind of looks like a high-tech Focus.

Fiesta. Not Festiva. Festiva = 20 year old Kia Pride/Mazda 121.

I never said any of that. What I meant is that there will be a focus RS, and then apparently there will be a real strict limited run of 4wd COSWORTH RS's just before the new focus is out.

Where did you find this info? Or is it just heresay from people speculating?

The 9th July Autocar that I'm referring to makes absolutely no reference whatsoever to a 4WD "Cosworth"

And Ford don't seem to know anything about it either. [/Insider information]

Just got the Motor Trend (Blargh) in the mail, But, in a little snippet, I noticed that, in 2012, the Mondeo/Fusion shall be on the same platform, described as an "American Accord/Euro Accord" relationship. Right beside that is a spyshot of possible Dual-Clutch transmission to come in Fords.

interesssting...

My guess will be that Ford will "pull a Saturn" and just sell the Mondeo here as the Fusion, just like what they will do with the Insignia and Aura.

Oh well, but it sorta doesnt make sense why ford went through all that trouble to make the chassis 4wd compatible.

Anyway saw the fiesta at the motorshow. The zetec s looks nice, however the interior looked dull and full of grey/dark hard plastics. Not nice. I prefered the interior of the mazda 2.

Drove the mazda 2 around the little mazda track and I have to say that if the fiesta is anything like the mazda 2 dynamically it will be great fun to drive. The mazda 2 is also silent at idle and ran really smooth at tickover. Many didnt even know that the engine was on apparently, I only knew mine was cause the AC was one, but turn the ac off and th car was silent. Impressive for such a small car.

So my conclusion is if you want a car like the new fiesta, buy the mazda 2 instead to save money for what is basically the same car.

Ford NA wouldn't be stupid enough to let the Mazda2 in the gates if they're investing this much cash into the Fiesta here. They've already got the far-better Mazda3 and Mazda6, this time, the Blue-Oval deserves the spotlight.

Autoblog
Autoblog reader Chris stopped for a Whopper with cheese at just the right moment the other day, as he happened upon a U.S.-spec Ford Fiesta five-door hatchback in his local Burger King's parking lot. The car's status was confirmed by the rather open Ford engineer who was driving it, who claimed that his car was 98% production ready for the U.S. He even let Chris sit in it, and he reports that the interior (see pic here) fit and finish was top notch with soft-touch materials and some seriously impressive seats. He told us the switch gear, IP dials, etc. also worked well and that he was surprised to find push button start in such a small car. While Chris did ask about what was powering this particular Fiesta, the engineer refused to comment saying only "we should be excited with what the plans are." Consider us excited.

Very nice! I love the look of the five-door there! That interior is very impressive, and I can't wait to see it in person.

God it looks sexy, can't wait to start seeing them here. I'd use my own money to buy one if I had it.

It's good to see that they're on the roads here now. Or at least pre production cars. It's also exciting that the interior will live up to however fancy it looks inside with good materials instead of a fancy design with cheap materials. But I guess it has to be good to keep up in the European market.

Having sat in one at the british motorshow I cannot agree with what they are saying about the interior.

I can. Although I echo your comments on the previous page that the Mazda 2 has the better designed interior, the quality of the Fiesta seemed higher to me.

Given the choice I'd get the 2 but if I was bothered about fondling the dashboard as road testers seem to then the Fiesta would be the better choice.

I'm just surprised that they're driving it around without any cammo whatsoever. Sure, its going about without badges, but that isn't going to keep knowing eyes from spotting it a mile away...

Is the center console supposed to look like a Transformers insignia?

Neither can I, I also sat in one at the Motor Show and it clearly looks as if Ford have been trying too hard to make it look 'futuristic' by giving things wild angles all over the place. It's horrible!

The outside isn't bad, but it's nothing amazing or beautiful IMO. It just looks....alright. Good from the front, a bit of a mess at the back.

So it's MkI Focus^10.

You've missed the point a little on that article. The person who sat inside was commenting on the materials, not the design. Personally I prefer the interior (and exterior) design of the Mazda 2 on the same platform, but the Fiesta does have better materials inside.

I thought the materials where rubbish. Hard plastics ahoy. Dont know what makes them think they were soft touch plastics.

Not to mention that the only ones who will care at all will be the only ones to be able to recognize it. Although with the official pictures out on the internet, there isn't much of anything to hide. And running without camo will probably make more people notice it.

Initial Impressions of the (US) 2011 Ford Fiesta Are Out

Ford_Fiesta_Review_1.jpg

So, a little while ago Ford started this project called the "Fiesta Movement" that hands out 100 of the new 2011 Fiestas to Americans across the country. As of this week, the winners had been announced, and several of the participants have already received their cars. Luckily, one of the recipients is a part-time Jalopnik writer, and initial impressions have already been posted.

What We Know (So Far):

  • The car will be released in early 2010 as a 2011 model
  • The North American models will be built in Mexico, not Europe
  • We will for sure get the 118 BHP 1.6L Engine matched to the 5-speed manual
  • Early tests peg 0-60 times in the neighborhood of 9-10 seconds
  • Top speed still runs out to 120 MPH
  • Fuel Economy is good for more than 39 MPG US
  • GOOD NEWS! Pricing starts at $12,000 USD and will max out just short of $17,000 USD

It seems moderately likely that (A) assuming I have a good job, (B) that my school loans aren't killing me, and (C) that a new car purchase is economically viable, I will likely be attempting to get one of these upon release. Hopefully. Unless FIAT gets the 500 here at the same time and sells it for less. Then things get complicated.

Just been outside for a smoke and there was a silver one parked outside... what a great looking car.

I agree was walking up to to my mates house and the Fiesta was one of the cars that stood out to me, the others being a Porsche 911 and a BMW Alpina B6s

Autoblog has their "Movement" Drive As Well

Something that seems to be echoing:

Autoblog
We drove the Fiesta right through Times Square. People stared. Past Madison Square Garden? More staring. (The paint color may have had something to do with this.) Stoplights became impromptu Q&A sessions as drivers (a lot of cabbies were definitely feeling the Fiesta) asked the usual barrage of questions. The same thing happened when we stopped to take some photos farther downtown, as people walking their dogs or walking to work took an interest. What is it? How much is it? (We're hoping for a starting price in the low teens.) What's the mileage? (Figure well over 30 mpg.) The public wanted to know.

Now, will that public turn out in droves to buy the Fiesta when it arrives next year? We'll have to wait and see. Obviously, the state of the economy plays a part in that decision-making process. Right now, no one's buying much of anything, and understandably so. If things spruce up on the economic front, there's no reason to believe the Fiesta will be anything short of a hit for Ford.

Cheap? Cool? American? Lets hope they can sell a few.
