nah, read couple posts up.

Yea, at this point it wouldn't be fair for those true hardcore's out there that indeed beat it without SRF but seriously majority of about 95% of the community had to use SRF to beat it.

I don't really understand the need for SRF because in terms of precision required it is nowhere near the difficulty of say the Grand tour 8C challenge, you only need to be fairly rapid to win the race. Just track knowledge is essential here.

I just won won the Focus RS 06 race with these settings:

SRC - On
ABS - 2
Aerodynamics - Rear 10
Exhaust - Catalytic Converter: Sport
Transmission - Fully Custom Max Speed 124
Drivetrain - Clutch: Twin plate, Flywheel: Semi Racing, Fully Custom LSD 14-45-25
Suspension - Fully Custom: Ride height - Front -10 back 5, Spring Rate - Front 12.5 Back 6.7, Dampers (Ext)- Front 7 back 3, Dampers (Comp) - Front 3 back 4, Anti Roll - Front 5 back 5, Camber Angle - Front 1.5 back 0, Toe Angle - Front 0 back 0.5

I hope these help some of you who are finding this hard. Seeing how I have only owned a PS3 & GT5 for 8 days and I can do this im sure its not as hard as it seems :D

^ This worked for me, thanks! (although I used ABS 1)

I passed him during lap 4, my lap times were:

1 - 143.538
2 - 142.373
3 - 141.976
4 - 143.796
5 - 143.274.

I went B-spec Bob cool after I passed him lol, so lap times 4 and 5 could have been a bit quicker.

I beat it earlier today with SRF on. I spent a good hour and a half with out it on, and the closest I could manage was 2nd place with around a 12 second gap behind the Focus. I aced it the first try with the aid on. It bothers me to see some of the arguing about this challenge. It was surely meant to be beaten with SRF.

did it on my 2nd attempt

i added a Sports cataltic converter to take HP to 221, a semi racing flywheel and added a sports 6spd gear box.

The RS has you on acceleration, but you have him on cornering and not being A.I

i can share my reply and car if you like

P.S i also got the human stopwatch trophy as well

Problem is this is exactly what you have to do to win these exact races?

The User car is clearly faster in some places than the AI usually beause you're cutting a corner or bouncing off the inside of anothr car to keep you in check.

Its not side by side wheel to wheel racing. Its a time trial to see if u can use the obstacles in your way to help you mooch to the head of the pack:/

In the Cooper challenge who didnt cut the corner at least one time or use another car to help them make it around a corner?!

The Mini Cooper challenge i managed to do fairly thank you very much, this ST challenge however without any setup changes or tuning I can only manage to get within 9secs of the Focus RS.

On another not (sorry about the double post) im finding the Mustang one impossible

I got first, used DS3.

Stock Car + Sports Intake Manifold + Full Transmission + Full Suspension + All Drivetrain parts + Comfort Soft tires.
Driving Aids: Skid must be ON. Everything off. ABS 1
Transmission: 143mph
Brakes: F 6/ R 4
LSD: 25/40/20
Height: F -20 / R -5
Spring: 5.5 / 6.5
Ext: 3 / 5
Comp: 3 / 5
Roll: 3 / 3
Camber: 0.5 / 2.0
Toe: -0.15 / -0.30

JJ72 thanks sooo much dude! Watched your video after being frustrated for hours with crappy tunes suggested. Ran the balls off that focus to lose by 2-3secs average everytime. Passed first time out because I knew the track so well and mainly because of your tune. Also, skid recovery is not needed with this tune. Passed that lil focus at the last roundabout at the top of the hill. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas!

I managed to win this event this morning. Just a tip of note though, apart from modding the Focus with all the parts (aero, drivetrain, suspension, etc.) its also important to learn the track and know the racing line. On my first attempt my average laptime were around 1:44-1:43.5 but after trying a new line I managed to get an average of 1.41 and managed to catch up on the Focus RS on the 4th lap! :D

Also, having "Slip Recovery" on helps a lot too! 👍

i got first place on this race at the fifth try. I have just tunned the card as closed as the requirements were...
All driving options were set to default...
I beat it using a DS3 =)

After posting my completion of this event I thought I might add some important keys that might help those still struggling with this event get gold.
1. Know the track, and brake as late as possible and WHILE keeping the tires as STRAIGHT as possible. This is key to being fast.
2. Be aware that the car's max hp is generated at 6100rpm, so try to shift then, not at redline.
3. Turn 2/3 & the last chicane can yield big time gains so focus to get good exits there.
4. Watch JJ72's video and use his setup. Works great for combo of car & track.

Hope this helps & good luck!

Also I did this with no aids abs 1 because the tune needs no help. Cheers

Car feels terrible, understeer galore.

1:42s to win? Fat chance for me :)

I thought 1:45 was pushing it for me.....

Thing is, if you are going to go down the skid recovery route, you dont actually need to buy fully adjustable anything. Its just a waste of credits im afraid,as you can win with just sports supension and stock gears i think.

I tried it twice last night, first time with stock as usual. I managed to get 2nd place with like 12 seconds behind the focus the first time. The second try, I got to 2nd place within 2 laps and then got stuck after doing consistent 1:44s :(

I was too sleepy though, I'll give it another try tonight. This seems to be the hardest seasonal event yet.

when i first tried it last night. the first lap i took out something like 8 seconds and then 2 on the next but after that i couldnt get any more outta him.

I tried this event for a long time last night, sticking with my policy throughout the game so far of not using SKid Recovery or any other driving aid except ABS 1. I have found this, without question, to be harder than any of the Licence tests or A-spec challenges or even Special Events challenges in the game so far.

I bought every non-HP/weight reducing piece of kit for the Focus ST including Rigidity Improvement. I messed with the setup LOADS, and came up with a decent setup which I will post later. However, the very best I could do was finish 2nd place, 0.256s behind the leading Focus RS. Laptimes have to be in the region of 1'44.9 first lap, then successive 1'42s. I had one dodgy exit from the final chicane and did 1'43.4 which meant I just didn't have the opportunity to outbrake the Focus RS into the final chicane on lap 5.

This took a huge amount of effort and setup work, without Skid Recovery this is easily the hardest GT5 challenge so far.

Using Skid recovery put me into the low 1'41s and I can see high 1'40s and gave me a victory straight away, however I will go back to using no Skid Recovery in order to beat it how I wish to play the game and post a video for anyone else not using SRF, along with the setup I have used on the Focus 👍

0.256 :ouch:

All the best

i did mine without skid recovery and without buying any suspension or racing gearbox(because i am cheap), so it can be done with just a cat converter added you just need the right line

I'm inclined to believe you as no matter what I did with the suspension, ride height, camber, toe and roll bars or transmission, it didn't make much of a difference to laptime

I actually didn't think to try anything that affected HP, I thought the car was already at the allowed maximum HP in stock form?

Anyway, great achievement man, well done

you guys are just mad...
with a DS3 controller as well? If so, then I have even more respect for you guys.

I'm at the moment at 1min 46s as my fastest lap. Just tried it today, and I don't seem to be getting no where with setup. I have not spent that long on it but if you are doing less than 1min 45s on your first lap I must be doing something wrong. I'll give you a recommendation of installing the Catalytic Converter: Sports. This will give you max bhp for the challenge. I don't think you can reduce weight though. Did you add the aero parts? Look forward to the posting of your setup.

Like yourself I'm trying to complete the game using TCS 0 and ABS 1. Only the Lotus Elise challenge I got fed up and used SRF. Might go back to do that without it once I complete the game.

I think the catalytic converter might be the key here, I only need 0.1 or 0.2s per lap to get within outbraking range of the Focus RS on a very good run 👍

Will try tonight :)

For now, Merry Christmas to everyone

These arent races..... this is just go catch the leader and you are 50 seconds behind him.

a race is we are all in cars that are around equal performance and we start off the grid together .

All the power in the world isn't going to get you around those corners any faster. Take notes from the veyron people.

Not always, depends on the circuit. You're right about spain's though, power has little to do with lap times there.

It makes me laugh when I see people say 'its easy, I did it on my seconds go' and the go on to say 'I had Skid Recovery on'. Skid recovery is worth about 15 seconds over the course of the 5 laps, so its little surprise people are finding it easy with God Mode.

when i tried it i gained 20+ seconds over the 5 laps.

Please tell me people know that you must drive FF cars differently (and very specifically) compared to RR/MR/FR? For FF and 4WD you need to use the point & squirt method of driving - early apex and straighten the corner off as much as possible, as early as possible. This gives you room for to wind off the lock and get traction.
