What is up with that stupid knob? Make a small gear stick or put the knob somewhere that isn't going to be completely in the way. If that knob weren't there, you could have a place to put your phone, etc. What a waste of space.
That console in the middle will work, won't it? :sly:

I like the knob, as the gear levers for automatic transmissions are now mostly useless.

Look like my old '05 XR8 dash and center stack. Ooooooold design there. Ford need to be for real with this one.

Err, wouldn't a gear stick use the same amount of space?

A gear stick is a quarter inch diameter. A gear knob is pi*3 inches of wasted space.

Some people need a gear stick to put their hand on while driving. It's a cool driving style. :D

The gate is recessed, and the whole assembly is low profile. Anything that juts out too much to render the space unusable is stupid design.

You know, with these buttons on the steering wheels, I'm surprised no one has figured a way to retrofit a "QWERTY" pad on there. I prefer a bare steering wheel myself. Might as well go all out for the technos.

Drove my girlfriends mom Fusion and the A-Pillar.. Is well rather huge..... :irked:

Other then that i hope the next model has a better A-Pillar.

I couldn't be less excited for this if it was behind a wall of drying paint.

The Mondeo is a car that weighs a full 1400kg with a 1-litre engine, as sold in Europe. 1600kg with a 2-litre diesel and some leather seats. With a bigger engine still and all-wheel drive it'll be what, 1700kg plus? Maybe 1800kg? And almost certainly cost more than a V8 Mustang. And look like a rep-spec diesel with some bling wheels and a heavy-handed bodykit.

The Mondeo hasn't been an interesting or attractive car since the ST220 disappeared and hasn't really driven with any finesse since the last generation. Filling it with lots of power doesn't suddenly make it an appealing car.

So I better hold on to my ST220. :D

The new Focus RS seems to be a more interesting car than this new Mondeo Sport.

In some countries such as USA where the V8 is already relatively inexpensive that probably is the case. But, here for instance, I doubt that the Mondeo Sport, if they'll ever make one for the Euro market, will cost 25,000€ more than the Focus RS, or almost twice as much as the 2.0 Mondeo with the highest trim line.

I will be selling my WRX in a couple years when the warranty expires and have really been leaning toward an AWD Fusion. I know several people that own Fusions. I like these cars a lot and I refuse to buy another Subaru once I get rid of this car. It is my 3rd and last Subaru.

Not really sure what to think of that shifter "knob". I don't mind it at all. I will have to take one of these new cars for a spin in the near future. Really considering a Fusion. Even if it ends up being a few years old I am fine with that.

I can only speak for the UK, but here the Mustang V8 costs £34k and the Focus RS is £29,995.

With a similar engine and drivetrain and more metal around it - I'd be hugely surprised if the Mondeo would be less than the 'Stang. The Mondeo-in-a-posh-frock Vignale is already £29k, and that's for a front-drive diesel.

I'm not sure how many hits to the head I'd have to take to decide to buy a chavved-up Mondeo over a V8 Mustang, but I'd probably be too dead to make the decision in the first place.

It needs to be sold in dark Metallic blue like ST200 and ST220 were sold in.

I doubt we'll see a V6 Mondeo return to the UK any time soon. Highest engine we'll probably get is an Ecoboost 4-cylinder.

I'm not really sure why they wouldn't bring it over as a Mondeo, since their market is supposed to be global now and all that jazz. I'd be very disappointed if they didn't.
