I forgot all about those Dakotas. I think they are kinda neat, but that's just me. Reminds me of old Broncos and Blazers. :D

Speaking of convertable trucks, anyone remember the Dakota Convertable from the late '80s and early '90s?

...Wow, what a stupid idea that one was...
 Funny; thats exactly what I thought of when Doug mentioned convertible trucks.

And since we are on the topic of Chrysler's stupid truck ideas, how about the Rampage? :D

Was this the only FWD truck ever?

Was the Subaru Brat front or all-wheel drive? I can't remember...

The best part of the truck was the rear-facing seats in the truckbed... Classic!

I think it was AWD. Subaru only did FWD for a few years in the 90's (like 92-95 or something) and I'm pretty sure the BRAT was from before that.

Some of the origional Ford Ranchero's with the classic Caddilac-style fins were pretty silly...

I'd still have to say the 1969 El Camino SS 396 is still my favorite "silly truck" to this day... This ones right purdy...

...And I hate to admit it, but the Holden One Tonner is somewhat silly as well...

Holden one tonner silly? Whys that? many tradesmen use them, they are not designed to be a flashy car.

No, there isnt anything wrong with them... I just think its funny seeing the front of the Monaro with a steel tube truckbed, powered by a Cadillac/Buick V6.

I'm a bit more impartial to the Ute, which is exactly the same thing but with a skinned bed...

according to several members of this site, that was the least structurally rigid vehicle ever mass-produced (or at least it felt like it).

well sort of. plymouth had a version called the scamp sold in 1983 only. and isn't the honda ridgeline front-biased or at least front-wheel drive until that "real time awd" bull**** kicks in?

Didn't know about the Scamp.

And yeah, Honda uses the word "on-demand", so I guess that means it's basically FWD like you said. I actually saw a Ridgeline on the highway this summer with commercial plates :odd:

The whole notion of "on-demand" AWD is a good idea, but if you are going to put AWD in a truck, it should be permanant of something that can be switched on and off like in the GM products...

Well its not a Monaro front its a Commodore front, Monaros have longer doors. A HSV/HRT concept was made using the Monaro front (below).

My apologies between the differences between the Monaro and Commodore. I know they are essentially the same car and they have very similar front facias.

BTW: Whats the difference between the Commodore, Berlina, and Calais? They all look pretty similar to me and appear as though the offer the same engine options as well...

That's pretty bad ass... that would make a good rebadge like an El Camino. :dopey:

That was straight off the HSV website, they probably stroked the LS6.

Just different trim levels Commodore is basic, Berlina has extra options (mainly interior) and Calais has even more.
