Ken Block's Focus RS. I'm not sure if this is the real car but man i'd love to see a street version of the 2 door Focus RS based on the picture.

Why oh why the production version isn't 2 door...

Don't get me wrong, i love the 4 door but 2 door version would pay a bigger homage to it's predecessor and it looks better too.

And look at that, the black bar on the front bumper is gone. Looks better too.

Rumor has it Ford is planning the return of the Thunderbird for it's upcoming 60th anniversary.

I wonder what the Thunderbird would be like if Ford made another one.

I personally would like it to be a sports car that rivals the Corvette.

Ford taurus based inspired by this?

Yes! - they've already done a retro-pastiche of the original, lets have one as a nod to those horrible 70's barges. Essential faux-landau roof included 👍

The thunderbird has always been more of a grand tourer, if they did make it I hope they put some more effort then they did in the last one that was pure junk.

A bigger more luxurious Mustang is what I have in mind.

True, Ford indeed marketed it as more of a "personal car". Hmmmm, I guess they could make the next one a GT car.

*sigh* That means Ford still will be without a Corvette competitor, this kinda annoys me.

What? There's no Ford called the GT300.
If you're referring to the Shelby GT350, that's NOT meant to tackle the Corvette. The Ford Mustang as a whole is a pony car, not a full-on sports car. Ford still doesn't have a 2-seater sports car to go against the Corvette. Sure, they don't actually need it, but it still annoys me.

Better call back to this one:

Ew, no.

Man, the Thunderbird is an odd car. The only particularly iconic version I can think of is the original. Everything else was half-assed. What would a modern, non-retro Thunderbird look like? It could look like anything. I'd want it to be a 2-seat convertible, although the market for that is sparse. Okay, a 4-seat convertible...but that market isn't looking much better. A limited-production car with a high price? Now we're talking about Lincoln territory, a place where either of those layouts could actually make sense. Make it a Mark-something.

The last Thunderbird was exceptional...it was sort of a fluke, I think. Hella retro, they didn't make very many, the only people that bought them were older folks who have since kept them spotlessly clean and only drive them on nice days. If there is a retro Thunderbird in the country that has seen salty roads I'd be surprised. And they're still a bit pricey, eh? But you can't make a car like that on purpose, I don't think. You just get lucky. Everything else Ford has been making lately has a market but I'm not sure a Thunderbird has enough to make it worth while.

If they did a proper, European-inspired Thunderbird like the SC from '89, everyone would scream, "Why didn't you do it as a Lincoln?"

If they did a proper MKIX, all the ass-backwards Ford fans would scream, "Why didn't you do a Thunderbird? With a live rear axle? And a SOHC V8? And a four-speed automatic? And no ABS? And no airbags? And it isn't wide enough? And the seats aren't big enough? WHY DO YOU HATE US REAL AMERICANS?"

WHERE'S THE COLUMN-MOUNTED SHIFTER RAGLEFRAGLE

I would want a new Thunderbird to be a modern version of this:

If people want a modern, luxury land yacht. Well, that's where Lincoln should come in with a new continental successor.
