Incidentally, what does this merge of Ford tuning mean for Cosworth? Although it was always a third party with excellent links, little motorsport activity for Ford Europe since 2000 has seen the Cosworth name quietly dropped by Ford over the years.
Ford owned Cosworth for few years in early 2000s but sold it for some reason when they also sold Jaguar F1.

The Falcon is going in 2 years. The Mustang is being imported. The FOCUS ST, FIESTA ST are sold here. Ford spprt models will be global so, it makes sense to be under one name.
Shame on that, a Falcon Federalized for US DOT standards would make an epic Performance sedan for Ford to counter the Chevy SS and Dodge Charger. It would fit in well with the New Ford performance brand.

For all we know it could be one of the new vehicles they have planned.

Less likely if they're scrapping it in its home market.

Unless they mean the 60s Ford Falcon, in which case I'd rather see the Galaxie return. But this is just mental masturbation; I'm content with a streamlined Ford performance division.

I highly doubt it since there hasn't been any test mules in the US and Ford AU has already "orders" to close the production lines after Oct 2016.

It is a shame. The Falcon name is almost as old as the Impala. It would have been great to have the Falcon and Mustang running side by side since the 60's

That's mainly why I wish Ford jumped on the idea of giving the Falcon a US-Spec variant including a ute model. Which would mean Ford could revive the "ranchero" nameplate.

Once GM gave hint of importing the Commodore(as the G8) and SS Ute, Ford should have countered that. At least importing the FPV models as limited( maybe 500) SVT Falcon sedans and Pursuit Utes. Then, go from there.

Yep Honestly they should have been importing Falcons since the '90s when the Taurus redesign killed its #1 spot.

The 90's EL Falcon XR8 wasnt the best, but the V8s had about 250hp. Plus, you could get a wagon. Definitely would have been a powerful force with an SN95 and AU Falcon XR8. RWD, V8 manuals. Ford Racing, Roush, Saleen, Shelby. Could you imagine? FPV did do a special Cobra BA Falcon

All of this would have helped keep the Falcon alive. We'll see. I do hope putting all Ford Perfomance cars under one banner, gets people in the showrooms.

It was miles ahead of the 96+ V8 FWD SHO. I love those BA falcons If I ever get the money to import one when they are 25 years old I so will.

Or what if the Falcon is finally coming to America?

One thing I dislike about Ford is how a bunch of really cool cars they made were/are only sold overseas. The Capri. The rally-tuned Escorts. The Falcon. The Falcon Ute. I want those cars! I know why we don't get them, because "there isn't a market", so just don't try to sell that many.

Its not sadly there would have been tons of test mules spotted running around Michigan, and the southwest US testing them meeting DOT standards plus the Aussie factories have already prepping for closing in late oct early Nov 2016.

Was sold in US. It didn't have all engines available, though.

That's true- it's like Ford told the U.S, "Here, have this Capri with a four-banger, but only Europe gets a V6 because you have a Mustang."

I saw plenty Capris in the 70's and 80's, when I was growing up in NY. There was/is the "bubble-back" Capri. That had a 5.0.

The only Aussie Ford I can think of that got a US-Spec model was the Aussie Capri, which is my least favorite one.

The bubble back and its earlier versions were Mercury rebadged Mustangs. Totally different car to the Ford Capri.

EcoBeast? That's a tad bit mysterious... I do know it is related to the Ecoboost engine (duh, I know), but for what purpose? Souped-up, sporty Ecoboost cars?

Hasn't Audi been doing that a long time with the S models? Just now BMW and MB are catching up with the M-Sport and AMG Sport models respectively?
BMW and Audi have been roughly doing it the same amount of time with S-line and M-Sport.
