Looking at the pictures for the Merc...from a non technical perspective, I can't really see anything standing out from the overall design of the car. Looks very much like last year with the exceptions of the new bits conforming to the new regulations? 🤔

Theory: these are official RBR photos that they're just sending out for the memes.

After seeing the Haas and imo, not seeing a car that looked like it was the start of revolutionary changes and Red Bull launching a title sponsorship on a showcar (although that version is my favourite since 2016, at least prior to that new crypto sponsorship that ruined that look for me), each one since has has increased my excitement for the new season, even if the cars will all probably look a lot different come FP1 in Bahrain.

The Aston, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes all look really great and the William's is nice but still in need of a few more sponsors. The Alpha Tauri looks nice in the renders.

For 2023: all new F1 car press reveals just a refrigerator box with sponsorship decals on it.

I agree with you on that. Looks a very predictable and safe design, not that I know what I'm talking about either. Maybe I'm just drawn to the more eccentric designs of the Ferrari and Aston. I think it's similar to the Mclaren, which didn't grab me either, but what's the bet that it will be the dominant design.

I think I said this in 2020 as well, but personally I don’t like the solid teal stripe/swoosh on the silver. I think it worked good on the black, but I much prefer the gradient/liquid style with silver.

It might be dominant again and it might be dud. Either way the exciting thing is that we'll eventually get to see who really nailed it and who didn't. Other than the fact that the Merc design seem very safe, it also seems really tight in that the body of the car just seem very small compared to say the Ferrari. I was reading on some other forum, people are wondering if they are going to have overheating issues again because of how compact the body of the car seems.

Given how windy it is today, the drivers feeling confident is a great sign and both drivers looked happy. :)

Looks fast. 😍

You can see how windy it is in following clip with the spray direction at the end.

It was good to hear from Lewis today and he seems to be more determined and better than ever. He had the measure of Valtteri, will be interesting to see how well George does and the team dynamics. It is incredible the level of work that goes into creating such a car, the sheer hours and complexity in building it is insane so best of luck to the other teams on bringing the competition.

Looking forward to see how it plays out, so far it is good to see majority of cars looking different at the moment. Hopefully, we can see more differences between drivers in dry conditions than normal too thanks to these regulations. Less than a week before these cars get their first session together. Although a bit pointless, as always will be fun to try and decipher the times and body language in interviews.

There is seemingly another, clearer picture of the Red Bull from its Shakedown, being wheeled back in to the garage, on Twitter from Formula News Live.

From the image, it seems that McLaren is now no longer alone in using a front pullrod suspension.

Both Toto and Lewis were more or less saying "we don't really know where we'll be next season" regarding the new car, which of course means they're going to absolutely destroy everyone.

Love all the new car designs. Ferrari and Aston are favourites, with Williams close in 3rd (though their livery makes me think Valvoline would be a better title sponsor than Duracell ).

Been watching all Kyle Engineer videos as well. It seems to me that despite the massive front wings this year's cars will be front limited (i.e. struggling to create front downforce relative to rear). It's opposite to the 80s ground effect era, where the cars have a lot smaller front wings (or even none, like the Brabham BT49), because the center of pressure is closer to the front. I'm guessing it's just because the cars are so much longer now, so the ground effect tunnels are a lot more rearwards than in the 80s.

Really enjoying the different design philosophies. Wish I was smart enough to make sense of it all. 😅

Looking forward to the Barcelona shakedowns.

Yeah, I was surprised at the wing being fully loaded across the width of the wing, rather than outwash generating. You can see where the vortex generating exists with the flap adjusters about 1/5th of the way along, but not much outwashing. The only thing I can think of is that they believe the cars are going to be very front-limited and are maximising wing area to rebalance the aero.

Think I would've made the rear spoiler blue as well, maybe incorporate the pink in smaller pieces. I don't mind it.

Sean Bull (the guy who makes the Renault/Alpine liveries) is so full of himself.

He was hyping the BWT-Alpine livery as being an 80’s aesthetic inspired design and the best livery on the grid. What we got instead was blue with pink blobs.

The McLaren was pretty bad but Alpine is easily the worst livery now.
