Really interesting quali session - was hoping we'd have the spectacle of an Alpha Tauri on pole or a RB 1-2-3 with Max/Checo/Gasly but it wasn't to be. RB have underperformed this session. Whilst the red flag didn't help matters, Max and Checo had already done some laps so don't know if Max or Checo would have gotten pole if there had been more time - the Ferraris were looking very strong indeed. I feel Max will really have to be on it at the beginning of the race as Hamilton has shown himself to be masterful at getting ahead early on and given RB appear to have an advantage over Mercedes on tracks like these they really need a win (ideally a Max/Checo 1-2) here to stand a chance at winning the championships.
Not looking good for Bottas. I feel the writing was on the wall for Bottas after Toto put some of the blame on him for the pit stop fiasco. It wasn't Bottas' fault at all and I felt like he was trying to sew the seeds of a narrative which will explain why he was dropped in favour of Russell. I feel if RB are still dominant around contract time then he'll end up being dropped.
Tsunoda was very impressive as well bar the accident - it seems his intense training programme in Italy is paying off.
If practice and quali were anything to go by then it will be a drama filled race. Whilst as a RB fan I'd have liked them to have secured the front row, a proper fight up front between the big three teams is what this sport has needed for a long time. Can't wait until tomorrow! Absolutely adore this track and it hasn't failed to disappoint.
