Anyone else having issues with the F1TV app using a Chromecast?

I can watch on my phone just fine, but if I cast to my Chromecast it says coverage has concluded on qualifying. It did work for the qualifying pre show though...

Edit: and now it's giving errors on my phone for the live stream... Basically I have no way to watch now 😔
I have had issues too, this season. Casting from my phone to the Chromecast is unreliable (no issues last year), but using the F1TV App on Chromecast works for me today.

Had a look out of curiousity and as it turns out, this is Yuki's lowest quali position since Belgium last year. So either all of Yuki's talent vanished between Q1 and 2 or that Red Bull second car is majorly effed. I'm personally leaning towards the latter

Well considering Yuki has had less than a week or so to get use to the new car it is actually good.

Remember when Russell was in Lewis's seat during the covid crap?
He was fast in that car, despite the seat being made for Lewis, the cockpit being too small for George and having a car with different dynamics.
It goes to show how fast that W13 was as well as how slow Bottas was.

I think Tsunoda did well all things considered, new car, a tricky car at that, and very little prep including zero prep in that car, a disrupted practice when he was trying to lay down his qualifying runs and, let's face it, 1 small mistake on his final run at turn 2.

I think he'll feel pretty happy, he did good work on his long runs in practice so I expect he'll have a decent race as long as he and others get through turn 1 unscathed.

Max is just from another planet, that lap came from nowhere and was absolutely outstanding, 110% commitment. You can tell how hard he pushed and how much he wanted it as he's usually pretty calm on the radio afterwards and this time he let it out. He just needs a good start, it's hard to overtake around Suzuka so he can keep the McLaren's at bay, burning their tyres up and he's got a good chance to win.

As an aside, I never realised how steep the start finish straight is at Suzuka until I saw the shots at the start of qualifying looking back up the pit lane, it's a properly steep downhill run into turn 1.

As expected Sainz gets a 3 place penalty for impeding Hamilton's flying lap at turn 1 - drops him behind Alonso, Lawson and Tsunoda.

He needs to sort things out, letting down my Williams fantasy pick.

There is a MASSIVE difference between the W11 which was pretty much the fastest and easiest to drive F1 car of all time versus this dog of a Red Bull that only the generational talent it has been designed around can control. The Red Bull second driver meatgrinder is probably striking again and Max dragging it onto Pole Position doesn't really help the team work out what's wrong with the other car/driver. Yuki underperforming vindicated Lawson's pace a bit in that car and shows the Red Bull really do need to sort out their car or it'll be an embarrassment again for the second car.

There was clearly a massive setup difference at RedBull with lots of wing on Yukis car. I'm not sure this will work out in the race with low topend coming forward. The race pace also seemed way off yesterday with .6 slower than Max but he could have become quicker after two more sessions today.
Same for Lawson, he is also in new car vastly different from the last one he drove two weeks ago.

Lap of a champion
Lap of a 4-time-world-champion... is it me, or did the commentator hit and extra gear of sensationalism?

I reckon one of them might have even managed to say 4-time-world-champ 4 times in one sentence. It was epic.

It was a great lap and fair due for Max for snatching the pole, I do think he was a little lucky McLaren guys just didn't nail their laps - Norris was quite gracious saying he just didn't have the pace despite I think that his first sector gave away some, Piastri was a bit more honest that he left some time on the table because he botched the first sector of his second run. I don't think it's sour grapes, because the tone was not overly sulky and it looked from the sectors likely.

McLaren might have the chance to pincer with different strategies to get at least one car ahead, but lets hope they don't get caught up in some indecision or self-created fairness conundrum that ends up causing a snafu.

Commentator asking Piastri about potential of wet weather could be like Melbourne could be seen as a bit antagonistic - but he deflected pretty well and good that he was ready to respond with confidence.

Sergio Perez's father thinks there's more than just a little difference between the two Red Bull cars...
What I'm about to say will cause a lot of commotion, but the car with number 1 was not the same as the car with number 11.

And if you were to put the driver of car 1 in car 11, he won't get out of Q1 in qualifying either and he won't pass the car with number 1. If you put the driver from car 1 in car 11, he doesn't do any better.

So it does lie with the car. The cars were not the same.[/quote[

I have tried F1TV for a week when they had free trial last year. Chromecast never worked for me so I didn't pay for the subscription. I have to watch the local sports network instead.

Still just an incredibly awkward look for Red Bull. BOTH of the junior cars outqualified Yuki.
Shows yet again how the RBR is purely built around Max, and RBR pretty much fed off of Max' dominance, they stopped caring about a 2nd driver after 2023.

My money for the race is still on Mclaren. Calling it a Mclaren 1-2 with Norris winning it.

That was a good piece with Ted and Jacques breaking down driving style and Max's preference of driving the car on its nose like Michael did.

Yeah, Jacques & Ted just did a short segment talking about how the RBR is built to be extremely sensitive to inputs which Max likes and can control. They even showed a quick animation between the two where Liam gives too much input b/c that's what he's accustomed to where as Max gives just the tiniest movement of the wheel. Jacques also elaborated that the rear of the car being very light into the corners also furthers the issue for a 2nd driver.

Unpopular opinion but F1 has outgrown Suzuka, from a racing perspective and from a safety perspective. The racing is never been particularly good, but it seemingly gets a pass because of it standing in the history of the sport, and it's really lagging from a safety aspect.

Minimal run off in multiple fast parts of the track, and only tyres, no Techpro anywhere.

Suzuka is 1,000,000,000x better than Monaco.
Monaco is just used for the rich people.
Monaco is not fit for todays cars and the track goes against FIA grade 1 rules.

Need a replay of Lando and Max out of the pits. 😤

edit: Ah, OK... Lando was dumb.
