As we've seen a car is either legal or not, and that's how it should be. Sometimes these tolerances are unimaginably tiny* but the rules set a limit and that's that.

I think their claim was that it over revved when it hit a curb, and provided a millisecond advantage on the not-best lap of the session.
 
Rules are rules, and Renault doesn’t really have a right to complain after reporting Haas in 2018 Monza over a few millimeters on the floor that had no bearing on the race.
