It’s more an idea based on showcasing the capabilities of the pit crew in addition to the driver, and adding a bit of unpredictability as well. As it stands, a good vs bad pit stop is judged by a few tenths of a second. Imagine how it’d be if it was by a few seconds. Some teams might be better at it than others, because it requires a significant level of individual coordination and athleticism. Probably would have to have legitimate athletes doing it. Could even make a show of it by giving the pit crew members’ names and interviews and the like.As interesting as that may be, people prefer to see overtakes happen on track and not in the pits.
