The commentators were saying that the blocking / impeding doesn't tend to get a penalty in FP's, but I assume double yellows do no matter the session?

And now Sky are saying he has been called for the impeding too...

Indeed. All media thought it was for the near accident(s) with Mazepin and/or Gasly. Now it seems he ignored double yellow.
Probably this was not broadcasted? I never saw it during FP3

Edit:

Not sure if real but another one for Lewis pops in.

It was extremely brief. Literally popped up for a second, if even.

There's a picture on Twitter of Lewis passing Max (who is presumed to have "caused it") with a flag waving, but it looks white to me, not yellow.

Those buildings with the green Aramco tarps covering them are apparently abandoned construction projects.

footage of Lewis’s double waved yellows. Not sure if i’m allowed to embed a reddit video so ill just link it below

I'm afraid I have to pay the optician a visit soon.

Edit:

Aaah I was focussing only on the digital sign. Have a closer look again and after the digital board you see a human waving with flag(s?).
Even then I still cannot see it very clear. Is it a yellow of white flag and double? I think I only see one flag waving.

Yay steward interference yet again such profound joy for folks who would like to see a championship settled wheel to wheel.

That all looks white to me. According to this thread, if it was double yellows, the board would be flashing yellow back and forth between the corners, not full stop.

I’ve watched that clip like 20 times, I don’t see any flags being waved. And how are double yellow flags being waved when Max isn’t even off track when Lewis passes?

Either way it seems like Lewis will be penalized for this. The fix has been in since Brazil.

That certainly doesn't look like slow down and be prepared to stop, pretty much a slam dunk like Max last time out?
There's no flag signal on his wheel and the only board I can see in that clip is a solid colour - I can't see what colour - while double-waved yellows is a flashing half-and-half yellow triangle. That one shouldn't result in anything.

But this one (even though that's not a real account) should be a more like a slam-dunk. It was pretty bad - and he'd blocked Gasly about four corners - or "corners" before.

Speaking of, was Verstappen summoned for running Ocon off the track in P1 yet? I've been busy with FIAGTC stuff over the last couple of days so I might have missed it.

The does seem to be a steward with flag/s? just after the board though, didn't RB try the lack of wheel lights as an excuse for Max too but didn't get much change from the stewards?

free practice has nothing to do with the race though
True, but for a yellow flag incident I would have thought it was consistent throughout the weekend, double yellows are double yellows.

Marshal, and wow, good spot! He was invisible first time through. Yes, he's holding one flag down (again not sure what colour). Double-waved yellows should be two held up.

I can only think that if there's double-yellows somewhere (which the stewards seem to think there were; can't summon him for ignoring flags that weren't there... probably) it's just before that clip starts, because there's none in that video.

Verstappen didn't have any lights on his dash because the light signalling system wasn't on; he got the penalty for ignoring literal double waved yellow flags. Clearly we can see the light signalling system is working here, so that should generate the correct lights on the wheel.

Which likely means the flag and board in the clip are showing white (slow vehicle).

The yellows were caused by Tsunoda who was just trying to get out of the way. Lol.

Hmm, if they penalise impeding in practice sessions, that Mazepin one is surely a penalty for Lewis. Gasly, maybe maybe not. Still, it was caused by this whole stupid blind section of corners where there isn't a way to easily stay out of the way or see a car at a million miles an hour in the mirrors behind those walls. Incidents like this were inevitable, it's not like Mazepin at Austin where he dawdled on an apex with all the visibility in the world behind him.
