I'll be honest and say that I think it's high time that FD tries to get a big fish to fry in terms of season enders.

I'm wondering if Sonoma would be a viable fit. They aren't going to do two rounds in Texas back to back, so COTA is off the table. I doubt they want to go too far east, so something like Watkins Glen and Lime Rock is also not viable.

There's a part of me that wants to be self-serving and have an event at Jacques Villeneuve's new track near Oliver, but that's way out in the sticks of the Okanagan and not viable as well. Besides, I'm fairly certain that only serves as a gentleman's test track.

James Deane is unsurprisingly your 2017 champion and Piotr Wiecek finally won a round and will be Rookie of the year. Worthouse came and conquered this year, and I get the feeling a lot of the teams have taken notes for next year.

It's done. After years of speculation, and false starts, Irwindale is done.

So now it becomes...where does FD put it's season finale from 2018, onward?

I've been proven wrong.

Irwindale Speedway has earned yet another stay of execution.

The facility, currently known as the Irwindale Event Center, was set to close Jan. 31, when the current property owners had planned to evict everyone off the land to begin the process of repurposing it into something other than a motorsports facility. But the track is now set to operate for at least two more years as a new track operating group, led by local racer Tim Huddleston and his Justice Brothers distributorship took over the lease formerly held by Jim Cohan and his 211 Entertainment group.

Huddleston captured three Irwindale Late Model track championships, the last one coming in 2008. His son, Trevor, has won the past three championships and finished second in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national standings this season.

"Good news is, suddenly, the track will not close on the 31st," Stokes said. "This is what we were hoping for. What happened, I can't exactly say yet, but we don't have to pick up and leave. We have a new leaseholder and the current landowners are not going to implement the plans they had for the property."

Stokes said a formal press release was currently undergoing the approval process and would be released to the public as soon as possible.

Irwindale has hosted 26 NASCAR K&N Pro Series/Winston West events since it opened. The track has also hosted USAC, Super Late Model, drift and NHRA events. Stokes was optimistic that many of these events could return this upcoming season.

Dai's car actually looks pretty cool by FD standards. What motor does he run?

1. So who's got the updated livery to Dai's car in GTSport?
2. Now that I said that, I'd love JTP's Falken livery as well
3. A Drift Caddy??? An ATS-V at that???

4. All this lovely tire lettering!!! I love it! (except Alec Hohnadell, get with the program, buddy!)

Hohnadell's supercharger hanging out the bonnet is positively sexual

Although his old livery was far beyond this. It ain't bad but when the old one was so good it's easy to see why it falls flat.

They made the same announcement last year at Road Atlanta and it never materialised. I'm not holding my breath, even if they do come around I doubt the car will be competitive.

Kyle Mohan put fenders on his MX5 and somehow managed to make it look even worse than it did last year. Seriously, this might be the ugliest car in the field this year.

That Mustang looks clean as hell. The MX-5, however, looks like a LeMons car.

I want that 599 GTB to materialize so badly. But I know it probably won't last.

Needs a new car anyway. That short wheelbase isn't doing him any favors.

They were already taking it apart and fixing it in the paddocks, it doesn't look like it's actually that bad. We'll see when they start to dismantle it properly, though. That thing was on fire for quite a while all things considered.
