SkierPS3I don't like the FGT, after getting used to the F2007 very quickly I tried out the FGT. The Ferrari is WAYYY better.
Yes, the FGT is quick, and for that, I like it. The one thing that annoys me about it is its ridiculous understeer. I have tried just about everything from ballast to LSD to suspension and back again, but it just understeers. On the rare occasion it oversteers, it whips the rear around so quick you cant catch it again. Not to mention it bottoms out with the slightest of bumps at the stock ride height... I just hate the damned thing...
**Tune set-up**
I refuse to turn on aids to help.
I can assure you that this car is still plenty challenging to drive even with the electronic aids. Having finished the FGT championship I can say that I didn't finish any of the races more than a few seconds ahead of the AI.
I just didn't want to deal with the frustration of a lap 19 mistake costing me a victory. Driving this car for 30 minutes at a time six times in a row is rough.
turbolefty78I do it every thursday night for over 2 hours straight(the full 200 laps at either Indy or Daytona). Unofficial league racing(we don't have a name) online in FGT's. It's awesome too and we all help each other with setups and so on. We're going to be doing enduro races at other tracks as well.
It's a far far different story competing with actual humans rather than robotic ai's. At least we can hold conversations with each other. Although, I think I heard my Bob call me an a-hole once(was pushing him hard to get into first).
Just wondering...
Why do you race FGTs on oval tracks?

I think I'd take 200 laps on Indy or Daytona over 30 minutes on Suzuka. Sounds like a lot more fun.
Blitz24I wouldn't. 200 laps in a one make race at Daytona (even though I like it) would be torture because the AI can't run there properly.

I'd do just the opposite...![]()
Short Buslol.... just my initial hate for Suzuka spilling over. The first time I run it in the FGT I was in a race, which was just a terrible experience. It's so easy to accidentally run wide in that car and go flying into a wall. It wasn't so bad once I got used to it, but man.... rough.

Hey... at least its better than those damn hairpins at the end of Fuji.![]()
Umm, you can't finish more than a few seconds ahead of the AI in the championship. because they cheat. Once you get about 5 seconds ahead they start running laps 7 or 8 seconds faster than they are capable of under any other condition. If you just keep the car going straight you'll fly past them like they are all in Civics even before they park for you. Then it's impossible to pull away... after you pull away.
And lap 19 mistakes make lap 20 wins sweeter.
After some initial tuning, the FGT is good fun to drive without aids. But as with losing long races, it's all down to taste.
Well this is news to me. On one hand I want to say "lame" but on the other hand..... complete blowouts are boring.
I guess with enough practice I could learn to drive this car okay with no aids, but man is it tough. I thought the 787B was difficult when I first drove it, now it feels really sluggish and almost easy to drive in comparison.

Let's settle this with a race. F1 v FGT.

Well I just got challenged to an online FGT vs F1 race by a certain (pro F1 car)poster here, it was great fun too.![]()
