yes you can use another car and by coincidence i just happened to try that but i couldn't keep up with them i used the minolta fully customised

I learned that when I drove the leman 24h Sarthe take a break every hour or so everyday and do a bit at a time.

Don't b-spec the formula GT World (bob dosent know how to drive any GT cups)

Cheers

No, it isn't too long as the real-life F1 is also almost 2 hours driving (better say racing :D )

I hope a 24 hour race in GT5 will become a pleasure as it's in GT4 crap, no daylight-night change, boring AI, only 6 cars on the grid.

I totally agree. It is just soo dull, like f1 racing. 6 cars, and no weather changing is dull. Would be amazing with night time storms etc... and much more realistic.

im using my f1 car and by putting the front downforce up to 50 and the back to 70 i can take corners alot quicker then usual when when i get to the twin ring superway i'll just lowered it again.

^What, at the Super Speedway, or another track? If you are A-speccing with max downforce, no ballast you should have an easy time; Ive got 100kgs of lead in the car and I am still creaming them in places. Make sure you havent got rear toe set at -6 though. Or is something else the problem (B-spec lol)

I have now done Twin Ring Road Course (just about managed to pit at the same time, won by about 40secs due to lots of mistakes) and Nordschleife. Never got anything like a clean lap at the Ring due to tyre wear issues, plus the fact you visit the pits on every single lap (outlap, inlap, repeat 7.5 times), and the fact the car is not suited to that circuit at all, kerb/bump at wrong angle = another voyage onto the outfield/infield, trying to avoid barriers. Won by around 2min45-3mins (couldnt tell - they were too far behind).

El Capitan next... hopefully it won't be too bad if the tyre wear isn't a problem.

I'm up to Race 5 Grand Valley and my B-Spec Bob is doing ok (not sure on his points). I usually qualify first and let him do the driving. Like said before in this thread, in Hi-Speed and Speedway I had to take over for abit as he was lapping alot slower than me and the AI cars were catching up.

I set him on 4 (Increased Pace) and it seems he likes to pit more often than the other AI cars. I B-spec'd Grand Valley once already but reset because Bob came second - this was due to him pitting 1 more time than the other AI drivers.

Any ideas on how to decrease tyre wear without going to '3' pace?

Fed up with the complete lack of AI. It makes overtaking at Suzuka, the final race, so damn hard. I was doing ok for about 18 laps, then suddenly it all went wrong. Went into 130R on green tyres and the car spun big style; even tho I'd done the same thing for the previous n laps, on less grippy tyres. Same happened next lap - and it takes sooo friggin long to get back to the track I had dropped to 3rd. Catch up to Mr 2nd - an a collision sees me reaching for the shovel again. 10sec lead evaporates - I'm now 12 secs in arrears.

A monster recovery drive, including some hairy moments around 130R overtaking, sees me back in 2nd, right behind 1st place on lap 32. Outbrake into the hairpin, hit him from behind - and I end up in the gravel, while he continues as if nothing had happened. Poor quality tyres sees me back in the gravel almost a second later. Very pissed off, I hit the reset button.

So close to the Sauber its just not fair. GT needs some AI, not robots.

I completed this a while ago. But if I remember correctly. If I started in A-spec, by about the 1st pit stop I'd have a consistant 30-40sec lead. And then if put B-Spec on 4 +overtake(of course), I would usually gain another 2-5 seconds per pit.

I just need to clarify something. If i save between races during the FGT championship, and turn the ps2 off, does it reset the championship or can i return to the saved race?

I just beat the game. I beat the Formula 1 Championship by winning 11 out of the 15 races. I skipped the hardest ones (or ones that had too many laps to do) and I won the championship and recieved the C9 Sauber as a gift. Then, later, I finished the other races - when I had the time. Hitman.

If you exit the championship without quitting, you can then go to your garage and save the game, then turn the PS2 off, and then continue from the point you saved at when you start GT4 again.

So, using the Minolta to race here it's possible to win or not? Looks like X Man tried and couldn't, but Guyver 1 won it in a R8.
If I remember correctly, I raced against the Audi R8 in the GTWC using the Minolta and won easily.

If this car, stock, can beat this championship I think i'm gonna try it... There's only this and the 1st one from the Extreme Hall...
I even do El Capitan endurance to get a brand new one 💡

A brand new R8 from El Capitan? What are you playing, PAL? R8 is awarded from the 24hr of Circuit de la Sarthe.

The Minolta is the prize from El Capitan... ...

I guess i wasn't very clear on wich car I would use, sorry :ouch:

I was thinking on using the Minolta.. :sly:

Oh OK, now I know what you mean.

I would advise against using Minolta, that thing eats tires faster than any racer I have!

Hmm.. that's true. On the GTWC if I used R1 I would pit one or two laps before the rest, so I used that factor to my advantage somehow. Raced using R2/R3 and pit exactly at mid race... as everyone had to pit anyways, I was using softer tyres and having better lap times than the AI 💡

Do you have any tips of a car that it's a close match to Minolta's power and handling, but doesn't eat tyres so quickly??

- Audi R8 (different class but still, its a Le Mans racer)
- Pescarolo Playstation Judd Race Car
- Mazda 787B (my personal favorite, has lots of power and less weight, from what Ive heard it has spectacular tire/gas longitivity.)

Woo! Finally finished yesterday. Suzuka went a lot better than last time - I decided to run nearly full downforce to stop the front tyres wearing away so fast, and ran a touch more camber to work the rears more for balance. I was suprised I could pit every 7 laps like the AI; previously I could barely do 6. I think putting the ballast over the nose a touch helped.

So, that's 3 million and a Sauber C9 at last :sly:

has anyone noticed on nurburgring on 1,2,3,4 and less often 5 pace bob and the ai FGT cars but most likely mine just spin out on both the straight near the start and the final straight?

how about on sarthe i and ii again bob and the ai FGT again less likely on 5 pace again most likely my car but thus time i seen group c cars do it aswell anyway they just turn into the walls and stay there with the gas on full til it gets down to 60km/hr

anyone else noticed these strange things?

I did this, but it was only mildly interesting on difficult courses.

Endurances are my thing though, so I'm perfectly happy with them. 6 cars is a bugger, but I can do it.

Three hours isn't demanding, but on such courses like Nurburgring it seems like it could go on forever when you're only halfway through the tournament. The 24 hours is where the real pain is, so 127 laps on a course than takes about a minute, or slightly over a minute isn't too bad of a stretch. However, it's challenging throughout the whole time, so it does make it go by faster.

IMO, the Sauber is a decent choice for the price car at the end, and while it by no means will win any huge top speed contests, it does have precise handling and surprisingly low weight. This triggers into high acceleration. So, I do believe it is worth it.

The problem is that until you complete 15 two hour races (total around 30 hours) you cannot do anything else with the game - that is the major problem. I stopped playing for a couple of months because of it. Definitely should be able to save progress in a series, go and do something else and then come back to that series - would make for a much more enjoyable experience imho.
