Here's the rub. I play iracing, netkar pro, fva, rbr, rfactor and love playing them all. I also play FM, GT, Driver: San Francisco, F1 2011 and I love playing them as well. They satisfy two completely different needs and they all do it fantastically. I don't wonder why one is not like the other. I'm not a console fanboy or a pc sim racing elitist. I'm a gamer who enjoys a range of games. Why worry about not being able to play sim games on consoles when you can play them on pc?

But nevermind that, here is the real question: could you please care to explain to me how on Earth can you run 1.41 times with Zonda?

Beating the 599x by 2 seconds, Schumacher wad driving the Ferrari BTW.

Ok the roadster is going to have a bit more weight and a radio but the chassis is the same.
That thing has grip in spades.

You know what I find pathetic about the whole "steering assist" debate. Look at what you have to do to even find the assist. You have to be basically losing your mind for the "event" (cause I don't even want to call it an "assist" seeming as it doesn't assist anyone) to take place. I don't want to see a video of a guy swerving back and forth like a nut on a track , show me a video of a guy racing in earnest to win and where the assist pops up and helps them.

Yeah ok sometimes you loose control but it is not that hard to throw a car away like in GT5 for example with the yellow bird or the F40. Btw. I´m not a good driver, at least not so good like some aliens here


But I have never driven these cars, so I cant tell wich is more realistic and if it is really so hard to drive in real live like in GT5. But it´s very challenging to make a clean lap on the nordschleife without spinning or hitting a wall... And that is fun and challenging to me.

Getting a good time in that thing is so hard. It's all about getting it to flow from corner to corner. I'm trying to get into the 1:41s now, currently at 1:42 something.

Every time your car loses grip it kicks in. Unless you're a perfect driver, you don't need to be "losing your mind" to see it working.

No, it isn't. It's fact.

Even with a wheel the amount of lock the game lets you have is decreased the faster you're going. That is only there to assist people who can't adjust the way they turn based on speed.

On a controller this is somewhat acceptable but it's a bit too intrusive in the demo and it is never acceptable for a wheel. It completely negates the purpose of a wheel.

I managed to do a 1:40.9xx last night but just uncertified the lap by the smallest margin on the penultimate corner. Frustration is an understatement. I think with enough practice I could get into the 39's but I have no idea how people have managed a 38

My biggest tip would be to make sure you have got the cars weight balanced before you fully apply the throttle. This thing with it's huge rear tyres and huge rear wing has got at tonne of grip. But it's also got a tonne of power, the key is to get that grip and power working together. If you don't and those two things are unbalanced then it's either understeer city or your swapping ends and into the wall. A perfect example being the left hander after the little jump. I come down that hill in sixth and brake, change down two gears and then turn in, I then wait until the weight has shifted to the right side of the car and then you can nail the throttle wide open and the car just grips keeps a tight line and keeps you wide left for the next corner. If you don't wait that split second for the weight to transfer and just nail the throttle, you just understeer into the fence. It's stuff like this that makes me believe the handling in this is so much better than FM3 and really is a joy to drive.

Samething happened to me, I was chasing a 1:40.958 ghost, had him beaten by a fraction at the end, was all chuffed/relieved, but then realised it didn't tell me I beat the rival, and looked up to see the dreaded exclamation mark...

So gave it another 10 laps and am in the 1:40.8's, with a little nip and tuck this could be a 1:40.5xx, however, I need to find some better lines etc, I will look at the 1:39 ghosts and see where the I'm losing the most time!

It's so bloody addictive though. I was hotlapping last night and just happened to look up at the number of laps and I'd done over 70!! I couldn't believe it, this game draws you in and you just lose a sense of time.

Oh you're perfectly right. Still, I'd like the "assist" (which is most likely a glitch) to go away. Patches are here for a reason 👍

Just ran the 458 event I beat the 2 rivals I had between us. Your next. Im just over .5 behind. I'll see what I can do against you in the morning. I really hate these AI Sunday drivers. What can you do when they go 2 wide at the last second going into a corner?

Haha, that's the reason I turned on some ABS to help. I'd see the double wide AI's coming, lock up my tires and start careening towards them at a higher speed than what I wanted.

Which the Turn 10 staff is now aware of because I told them.

How do you do that then? I'm not bothered about the leaderboards but it would be nice to know!

1:33? Fastest I've seen on the boards is a 1:38.

There was a 1:22 on there but it was a glitched time.

After playing the demo intensively, I must say the rivals mode is brillant and adds so much to the game! It is really fun and intensive. It is just like an good old need for speed game (most wanted or so) with better arcade physics.

Yeah, arcade physics. Why? You have still so much grip in FM4, I dont think that you can drive with an Zonda R with 250 km/h into an corner, accelerate full throttle out of the corner, even if your wheel is still turned 200° degrees...

I´ve never lost the control of my car and never get the feeling that I will hit the wall if I pass the corner too fast.

Then your just not driving fast enough.

If it gets rid of the A.I completely, it's a bit silly but if it's still on the track just behind you I see no issue.

If the traffic is behind you and not in front of you then there is a huge issue.

Yup traffic being behind you defeats the purpose of the challenge to get past the traffic. Thats a huge glitch, cheat but I am sure T10 will take care of it in the full game. Probably not in the demo since the game comes out in 1 week. I would love to see T10 bann the people doing this in the demo from the full game.
