Forza 4 on Top Gear (USA) Tonight ..

It's very hard to tell what's going on in the vid to be honest. We know that it was HEAVILY edited and the action on screen was not linear. For all we know they could have actually taken it serious but only edited to be "humorous". I mean at one point they are in third person view, then hood view, then cockpit view. Then they are cutting in replay footage etc. So it's really hard to tell what's going on. What I wanted to see was Tanner on the game but that didn't happen. I do know that I can't wait to get on Infineon though. Track looks outrageous.

I'd like to add that if you drive the LFA in GT5 with all assists on, it will behave similar.

The assists are made to let you push the car without any consequences, hence the understeer instead of oversteer.
Plus, they were clearly n00bs.
Who drives in to a corner at 100+?

So people dont like TGUS because its not all serious?

I have never seen a Top Gear US show until that clip and found it rather funny. Makes me want to see more.

I have Top Gear UK on Netflix, and got bored after the 5th show.

What am I missing?

I am pretty sure they are aware of all this, but they will complain anyway. Heaven forbid Forza continues to be a great game.

I like the show, I simply can't see the value of their challenge, as it is so hopelessly staged and faked. But cool pictures anyways. 👍

No, TopGear isn't serious but it's funny, being not serious doesn't automatically makes something funny. I just thought it was stupid, not the test of the game v reality that's fine but the presenters we're just stupid in an unfunny way.

I thought the segment was OK but wish they would have shown more of Forza. I also liked the deadpan humor.
I have only watched one other US Top Gear so can't compare but I only find interest in about 10% of the UK version. Most is just silly crap.

Any more of this from anyone and this topic will be locked.

It was sarcasm. If you were to read my previous posts (especially the oh, couple hundred I have in this forum specifically) you would see I highly enjoy Forza.

Sarcasm kills:ouch:👎

OT:
I hope that it's not going to be country split; US ver=US TopGear, and vice versa. The US Version of Top Gear isn't exactly as good as I would've hoped, much like NFS shift:dunce:

I don't see them bothering with different Top Gear affiliations for different regions, and surely Turn 10 knows that even the US favors the real Top Gear over the xenophobia-friendly (for the rednecks turned off by anything non-American) knockoff. The real Top Gear boasts a viewership of 350 million people, which is quite a bit more than the US imitation's 2 million, and while the "350 million" is global it's a fair bet that there's more than 2 million viewers of the real show in the US.

1) Do you have proof for the 350 million? Every where I looked on Google mentioned it, but didn't give any proof backing the claim.(Basically I'm calling it marketing BS).

2) Would people stop calling TGUS an imitation and a knockoff? IT'S MADE BY THE BBC!!!!!

I really don't get people, there are a good amount of reason's to dislike TGUS(lack of chemistry, stupid segments, being unoriginal etc...), the fact that it's not TGUK frankly is lazy and stupid.

The video basically shows how the real LFA oversteers all over the place.

Check 7:20 onwards, the cars kicks thee back less aggressively than the real thing, they have assist on, but there is the understeer.
I don't even...

How is the car supposed to oversteer like the real thing with Forza's TCS and ASM trying to prevent exactly that?

You said it yourself - it's unoriginal as it's basically TGUK all over again. In my opinion, that fits the bill of being an imitation or knockoff, and validates the point of 'not being TGUK'. It's just not the real deal...

That said, it's still miles better than basically anything you'll ever see on German TV.

That's a bad thing?

Originality isn't really a reason to watch something to me. Unoriginal doesn't automatically disqualify it as good to me. Top Gear UK has 16 seasons worth, TGUS only has 1-1/2.

And the chemistry, well, it's still only halfway through the second season. TGUK cast went together like....well, like things that don't go well together.

And as far as the Forza 4 demonstration, I didn't love it. I was hoping to see Tanner drive in real life, and then compare the game, but instead we got 2 terrible drivers on the game, and a great driver on the track. I mean, I welcome any game-play footage, I was just hoping for something a bit better.

Even though I knew it was going to be pretty much next to nil that those two clowns would ever be allowed behind the wheel of the LFA I too thought they would put Tanner on the game to see what he could do.

I like the part when Tanner said he knew they were using assist because they went through a section full throttle. As most people said I wish Tanner played FM4.

I see. So you expect that we should waste our time digging into your post history to determine if you're being sarcastic, or not? Interesting.

I suggest that you leave sarcasm well alone, it clearly doesn't work for you.

What I was getting at is people basically using the "Forza sucks as it's not GT" argument only substitute TGUS for Forza and TGUK for GT. There are very valid points that can be made along those lines but just saying that it sucks because it's not something else is indeed stupid and lazy.

It's basically like saying the US Ford Fiesta isn't the real thing and is a knockoff because it's not a UK Ford Fiesta.

Well, I kinda agree with you.

Just because it's not TGUK doesn't make it bad, that's true. Not being TGUK makes it a knockoff, though. I mean, the whole concept is the same... While it doesn't neecessarily make it bad, it just means that it is (in my opinion) fair to call it a copy/knockoff. TGUK has been running for quite somee time now, works very well, it seems, and is now copied over to the US and AUS...

TGUK "better" have more viewers, lol. You know how many years it's been on?

I thought that segment was going to end up being an advertising segment for Forza 4 but it actually wasn't. As far as the show (Top Gear USA) goes, I actually like it and hope that they keep it going. I don't know the entire history behind Top Gear UK, but I remember reading awhile back that even when it started off seasons ago, not many people liked the show. Fast forward a few years later, and look at how many people enjoy the show worldwide.

I would say that for anyone writing in a forum or in a chatroom. You can't get verbal annotations through text on a page, so it's nearly impossible to determine if someone is being serious or joking, unless noted outright.

Indeed.

No. But I expect someone to examine the conversation and context that the comment was said before coming to a conclusion of what they think the author's intention was. I believe this is taught in high school level English. If an individual is too lazy to do that they could simply look in my signature.

Noted.
