It's not the electricity, it's the downforce. Never been a fan of how Forza in general makes open wheelers and LMPs handle.

Well, my gripe with it is how the powertrain and drivetrain work together with the high-downforce body.

That Bear Hunter Track in the seasonal taught me that there was an entire portion of the map I have never even seen before. Wow.

VW I.D R review.

Pros:

- Seems well-modeled
- Physics is ok, apart from how Horizon simulates grippy tires (read: badly)
- Pikes Peak name in Forza (take that, Gran Turismo!)

Cons:

- Pathetic top speed highlights issues with the game's AI
- Starts in S2998, so the battery upgrade will push it to non-competitive X-Class
- Completely unfit for the game

When Playground added the 917LH to FH4 they said something along the lines of, "yeah, you know these old race cars, people could make them road legal and drive them on the street". Well, I'd love to see them explain the presence of the I.D R, a modern, fully-fledged race car, closer to an LMP2 than to a hypercar.

This car should have been in FM7. It's useless in FH4. 252 kph top speed in S2 is pathetic outside of very few circuit tracks. With the speed and grip boost the AI gets, especially the front-runner, the I.D R is useless in standard class-based racing. The only reason it's in FH4 is for publicity.

The kids who don't know any words other than "Performante", and "Pista" are completely right. At least the Huracán and the 488 would reach usable speeds and handle more like a car you'd expect to see in Horizon.

I've always been afraid of seeing FH steal content from FM on the merits of popularity. My fears have become true: the I.D R is the premier example of Horizon's continuous cannibalization of Motorsport. Let's hope there's still a Forza Motorsport franchise in five years.

Verdict: 0/10

I'd rather the I.D. R be in FH4 than FM7 any day of the week. FM7 is dead and gone (and straight up boring imo) while FH4 is more alive than ever. Not to mention you're more than welcome to do some hill climbing at Fortune Island to make some real use of the I.D. R.

And plus...it's probably be just as useless in FM7 as well.

For real

People: The I.D r is a better fit for motorsport
Turn 10: *puts the I.D R in Forza Specials*

That, and the same problems of lack of speed would be apparent on most tracks in FM7 as well. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. But the doomsday prophecy on the Motorsport series in that post is what really made me laugh.

Horizon meta is heavily biased towards power. The car is useless. I can't just gloss over the fact it completely lacks the speed in a game where speed matters a lot. And being outsped by AI is a huge issue IMO.

In FM7 at least it could be upgraded to become (somewhat) competitive. I doubt it'd be R900 straight out of the box or something like that. Being dumped into Forza Specials isn't a problem when the bulk of the people still playing FM7 are in online lobbies, where class-based racing is popular. And FM7 has many more narrow tracks than FH4 as well as a much more favorable meta to grip cars.

If FM7 is dead then let's change the argument: the I.D R should've been saved for FM8! Would've made much more sense. It's not as if FH4 needed it in the first place. It's there just so VW can advertise how "green" they've become anyway.

The 600LT isn't very competitive in S1 class but it fits the game much more than the I.D R. To have fun in the VW I must run single-model grid or stick to very narrow tracks... I have yet to try the Needle Climb in it, though. It's one of those mandatory blueprints.

I guess the IDR doesn't fit well, but I would never said it's useless. Already beat some speed zone records I made with the 599XX E and it will beat anything on most circuits even in S2. And I bet you will see it online too. It's like saying that beside the Boneshaker anything is useless in A class. Still not loving it much.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't play the game competitively online unless some Festival Playlist reward requires me to. So a car being competitive or not couldn't mean anything less to me. I just like X car for what X car is, not because it can beat the Boneshaker/599XX Evo/Track-Tor, whatever meta car.

I couldn't agree more. It's just that a car that can beat some meta cars should not be considered useless IMO.

Hooooooly crap, that 1st race for the S1 Extreme Offroad event is TERRIBLE. I want to know who at Playground thought it was a good Community race to have in a championship. :boggled:

I've had a good bit of races where speed doesn't really matter as much as, lets say, handling. I use an underpowered CRX and still manage to blast by cars that are much faster just because of how good it handles. I don't really think it's as prominent as you're saying.

Why wait when we can get it for free now? What's the point in that? I'm having a hard time processing this.

Are you suggesting that because they put it in FH4, it can't be in FM8? Why can't it be in both? I get you don't like this car. Or at least you don't like it in Horizon. There are plenty of cars in this game I don't like, either. But I don't waste my time complaining about them being in the game. First, there are plenty of people who do like these cars, and why rain on their fun? Second, why waste time and energy complaining about the cars I don't like when I can talk about the cars I do like?

The opposite of love isn't hate. It's indifference. Don't like the ID.r? Fine. You're not required to like it. Don't drive it. Sell it if it offends you that much. Drive the cars you do like. Talk about those cars and you never have to mention the ID.r again.

Sorry, I’m not following. How does someone’s disliking of something affect the ability of others to like it?

Second, why waste time and energy complaining about the cars I don't like when I can talk about the cars I do like?

Because it’s not a waste of time. Relevant feedback doesn’t hurt. And if @HyperSpeeder hadn’t brought up his boredom with said car, then I wouldn’t have read the reply that suggested taking it up the mountain on Fortune Island. It’s something I want to try but had forgotten about.

Let’s not try to make the forum more boring than watching paint dry.

Even though said relevant feedback was more or less trying to make a prophecy of the death of the Motorsport series because of one car not making the jump, and trying to make it seem like the ID.R is a waste of time because of it's lack of meta ability (Something that I guarantee 99% of people do not care for unless PG specifically calls for it) before saying that the ID.R is only in the game for publicity reasons?

The Speed 12 is also a good option. Won all three races in it. And in the first race, as soon as you pass the train bridge, there's a jump and it like to fly and land on other cars. Silly car.

I'd argue that the game meta favors grip and launches. My go to for trials is take a high speed car and convert it to 4wd and give it wide racing tires. Usually I am unstoppable.

Meta has impact on offline mode. Meta cars and tunes will defeat Unbeatable Drivatars more easily, and poorly performing cars will either lose badly or have more difficulty winning races.

Few cars corner as fast as the I.D R in the game, but it loses too much in speed and the Drivatars don't follow the same rules we do. So it ends up being difficult to use in most offline events. Even cars like Apollo, MC12 Corsa, Mosler, they lack the speed, but they're no way nearly as gimped as the I.D R.

Solution, lower difficulty or make blueprints with fitting cars, I'd rather the latter obviously, and it does work well, but blueprint slots are limited...

For the rivals event, I used the RS200 FE. Came in second in the first race, won the second race, and came in third in the last race. I'm surprised I won the circuit race around the shipping containers, considering my own teammate rammed me into the containers on lap one, I hit the very edge of one of the concrete pipes on lap two (unforced error on my part), and I hit a car in the figure eight crossover section of lap three. Three times I was stopped dead, and yet I managed to get the win.

Content update: https://forums.forzamotorsport.net/...-October-1---Playlist---and-Cayman-audio.aspx

Cross-Platform Fixes
  • Festival Playlist completion stats being incorrectly reported.
    • Players may need to go into their old playlist history in order to get past playlists to update correctly
  • Fixes the audio for the Porsche 718 Cayman
  • Two minor crash fixes

I haven't checked yet, but hope the percentages are fixed now. The replies to that thread don't look promising.

Not sure about anyone else, but Series 7 and 8 are now showing 93% for me. The other playlists are fine. Guess I need to "SuMbIt a TiCkEt". :boggled:

Certain cars do certain things better, that’s just how it is. It’s hardly something to get bothered by in my opinion. A race is a little challenging if you use a car that might not be the best? Sounds like fun to me, and I’m not sure what’s really wrong with that. It makes it sound like you’d just like it all to be too easy which really doesn’t sound that fun to me.

If it’s hard to use in certain races than just choose races that it excels at.

That's how I tend to build my Buggy events, rarely in Autumn, almost never in Winter.

The Rimac is the complete opposite of the I.D R, great speed and bad handling, but it wins more easily against the AI, because the car takes care of the speed and my skills take care of the corners. :)

Most of my events are standard, though, and in "Extreme Track Toys" you have things ranging from Ariel Atoms to Hoonicorns... So it's best to just trim the cars you don't want, which is easier here than in FM7 BTW.

There's an FE RS200?

Won the first two races, dominated the circuit race with the RS200 screwed up on the last race but we were already up 2 to 1 so I didn’t care.

Do you really find it unthinkable that manufacturers approach Microsoft to get their cars in Forza for publicity reasons? I don’t.

I had decided of skip this week's trial since I heard that the VW wasn't all that. But since I found one on the Auction House pretty cheap I thought what the heck. I'm utterly perplexed the some people think the ID R is too slow to compete. I just lowered the aero to it's lowest value then got the oversteer under control and now It's starting to beating my records. Some of which were previously held by X class cars. Sure, the top speed is low but it gets there quickly and it's not much lower than the top speed I could achieve on a given circuit anyway.
The average lap speed is so high that the Unbeatable A.I. is dusted in half a lap never to be seen again.
