Forza Horizon 5: Car List (WIP)

For a "confirmed list" they aren't half odd about adding stuff we've seen (most of which has since been added to the list) and also, weirdly, removing things.

Can someone please show PG what "confirmed" means?
Agreed.
I don't trust their list at all. It's supposed to be a more reliable source than "leaks" or Youtuber preview build videos.

And this mess is made even worse by the dev builds used in their streams, and the preview builds given to the Youtubers.

There is less than a month left until the release of FH5.
But I am rather unsure of the FH5 car list.
Which cars will really be added to the game? Which cars will be removed? And which cars are exclusive and which ones can be bought at autoshows?
Perhaps this confusion will continue until November 5th.

You can see now why people were scared of potentially losing Mazda and BMW - the fact of the matter is that PG's handling of the car list has been an absolute joke. Drip feeding stuff and making periodic updates to the official list has not stopped the rampant misinformation that has transpired, from brands PG have confirmed to be in the game but aren't in the preview build, to PG stomping up and down that a car is what it is, even when fans have rightfully pointed out that its not, until they quietly confirm that it is indeed what the fans pointed out.

Frankly, if PG had decided to drop the entire car list a week before launch, there wouldn't be this problem and this constant whack-a-mole. Frankly, fans make decisions based on what they see, and what they see in preview builds, dev builds, and in dev mandated tweets and videos usually are truthful. PG have not been truthful at all the past month and a bit, and frankly, more people should be taking them to task. Yes, car licensing is often a down to the wire thing, but you either tell consumers everything in as clear a manner as possible, or you don't and leave them to find out at release. Seems like PG have chosen the latter.

Something is going to hit the proverbial fan if they made a big deal out of the Stratos's engine sound just to say "hey yeah we didn't get the license for Fiat or its Italian subsidiaries."

PG has never been so sure-footed about most of a Horizon game up to its release, and yet the car list is the least-certain it's ever been. I think something's amiss.

I'm also quite boggled by the fact that many Festival Playlist exclusives are gone again so far. I'm not panicking until the game is in my hands, but man cars like the DS23 and Turbo R would be huge losses.

Some details I've noticed regarding the car list that I haven't seen mentioned:
  • Volvo is in the game in the build shown today, but still not on the confirmed list. Only 3 cars are here, the V60, 850 R, and 242 TE.
  • Mini is as well, with all cars returning from Horizon 4 except the Mini Cabriolet (but both the MkII JCW and JCW GP are still in together???)
  • The SS badges on Chevys are still missing from what I can tell (go figure), although mysteriously the Mercedes SSK is listed both on the website and in-game as "SSK" instead of "Super Sport Kurz."
  • The Honda CRX Mugen is in-game but not on Forza's list.
  • The '18 Mustang GT is in-game but not on Forza's list.
  • Same as above for the following: Ferrari F40 C, Audi RS 3 Sportback, 1960 C1 Corvette, RAESR Tachyon, Toyota T100 Baja, 1999 Viper ACR, Italdesign Zerouno, and Jag C-X75.
  • Some cars such as the lineage of Nissan GTRs now have their popularly-used internal designation after their name (e.g. R34, R35, HR31, etc)
  • The Audi RS2 is listed as "Avant RS2" rather than the correct "RS2 Avant."
  • The DeLorean is here despite not technically being a day-1 car (not surprising since I'm sure it will be in the game from Day 1, just not obtainable Day 1).
  • The Offroad vehicle categories have been jumbled up a bit. The Polaris RZR and Can-Am Maverick are part of a "UTV's" division, which is separate from the "Unlimited Offroad Buggies" division that the Class 10s are in. Trucks like the Colorado and X250d are now in a "Pickups and 4x4s" division. There is also a regular "Offroad" division as well as an "Unlimited Offroad" division.
I'm very happy about the Jimmy, Renault 4, and Evija though. I'm getting the R4 as soon as I'm able.

I think something's amiss.
Surely Playground can't be this sloppy that they are tripping over themselves with every step with regards to the car list - a part of me wants to say that Microsoft has something to do with it, but it's so weird. I certainly don't remember things being this bad in the lead up to FH4, where we knew that Toyota and Mitsubishi weren't coming in at launch (we just didn't know why) and everything else was falling into place without too many problems.

The SS badges on Chevys are still missing from what I can tell (go figure), although mysteriously the Mercedes SSK is listed both on the website and in-game as "SSK" instead of "Super Sport Kurz."
I'd really like to know T10's continued insistence on removing the SS badges. Considering that what Mechberg said in the lead up to Forza 6 obviously hasn't transpired, and Chevy still sells Camaros with the SS badging, why are they continuing the charade? Either put them back in, or tell people the reason why you don't want the SS badge on Chevy vehicles is some sort of absolutely blinkered, hyper politically-correct (as much as I despise this term) ploy to not remind people of the Nazi SS. There's such a thing as context, and in a racing game, any context towards the bad SS is never going to be crossed. At least people would be willing to call them out on how absolutely silly it is if they spilled the reason as to why.

That's because they weren't that bad. And it's also why, less than a month away from global launch, I'm beginning to worry about what the list is going to be on Day 1.

The whole SS badge thing is just really ridiculous and it needs to stop. It's literally not an issue with any other racing game or series, so they just need to drop it.

as a new owner of a volvo s60 I am very disappointed its not on the list and will send pg a letter about how displeased I am
Haha I drive a C30 and it's sad how much Volvo gets ignored every game. Sad days. Welp, I hope the leaked C30 Polestar or at least the '09 R-Design from Forzas past will make it back.

Considering that they are already starting to lock away some actually important, notable cars behind gates going by the preview build (F1, 2005 GT, 330 P4) it's starting to look pretty damn bad from my estimation, and there's certainly going to be some very angry customers at launch, if there isn't already.

This is what gets me. This wasn't an issue in any racing game around Forza 6's release. This certainly hasn't been an issue since. Really, by this point, I'm wondering if this is a requirement for Chevrolet licensing vehicles into the Forza franchise, or if T10 (since it's been made pretty clear in my mind that T10 takes point on anything that requires the intervention of the mother studio, which this probably applies to) is truly that lazy that they can't tell how silly this all is and changes it.

Some cars such as the 2017 Ford Focus RS are apparently going to be accolade rewards from what I'm seeing with the gameplay that Youtubers are uploading...

Of course, you have 1/5th of the Forza fanbase, i.e. the children who keep whining for the new M8 by spamming Forza Horizon's Twitter and Instagram accounts only to get the same old cars from Horizon 4 and below. I would be a bit pissed to see Playground back again locking cars in Multiplayer, although the auction house could be a good way to obtain these cars at the expense of lots of money and some random dude DMing you, telling you to sell him or leave him alone

I've decided it's better not to be mean to certain people who feel the need to spam replies on all of Forza's Twitter posts

I've updated the list. Should be all accurate now.

So after updating the list, we sit at 531 cars.

If you remember, a build a few weeks ago had 543 cars total.

If we add back in Abarth, Lancia, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, that will take us over 543 (or to 543, with some cuts)

It could look something like this;

2017 Abarth 124 Spider
2016 Abarth 695 Biposto
1968 Abarth 595 esseesse
2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio
2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio
2014 Alfa Romeo 4C
2007 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione
1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2
1980 FIAT 124 Sport Spider
1986 Lancia Delta S4
1982 Lancia 037 Stradale
1974 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale

Obviously we could launch with more than 543 but we're less than a month away from launch and it seems unlikely at this point.

In terms of cuts, there a lots and some of it makes so little sense. Especially the cars that were just recently added to FH4.

Like Ferrari losing 12 vehicles, Lotus losing 6, Maserati being completely gutted for no discernible reason, Aston Martin being halved. All make little to no sense when pretty much every Ford is returning, bar 4. BMW only losing 3 vehicles but Porsche loses 10+ cars. Chevrolet and Dodge keeping pretty much all vehicles but then randomly cutting Pontiac, Hudson, Plymouth, Chrysler etc etc. It's just all over the place. Then who knows what is a wheelspin/accolade reward and what is available in the autoshow.

Bottom line. You look at the launch list of FH4 (at 460) and the very close to launch list of FH5 (at 500ish taking out FE's and Welcome Pack cars) and it's pretty much a wash. There's little to no improvement. For everything we gain (the 21 new to Forza vehicles, FH4 DLC) we lose out on something else pretty much.

I get that at the end of this game's life cycle it'll probably outclass FH4 substantially. But we're not even close to that point yet and we have to evaluate what offering is presented to us right now. And right now, it's a bit disappointing IMO.

Where can I find info on the vehicle categories? Is there any video scrolling through the cars with car category visible?

Yeah, it's AR12's video on the car list if you're willing to deal with him.
Ooh no, that way-too-loud screaming kid again… 😳
Just this once I decided to suffer from ear pain and agony. Actually it was not that bad as he shuts up for the majority of the video. 🙏

On the car classes, I do like Drift Cars getting their own class instead of being in extreme track toys. Splitting off Pickups & 4X4’s (& 6X6’s 😁) from Off-road is a good choice as well. Not too sure what to think of the other off-road classes, there is UTV’s, buggies, unlimited buggies, unlimited off road and plain off road left now.

The Honda Prelude Si is still a hot hatch instead of a Sports car… damn lazy inaccurate PG… 😡

I actually didn't catch those, so thanks for mentioning them! I'm just glad the Prelude made the cut more than anything. PG has a habit of excluding it. I can't say the same about other cars that got cut (again).

Drift cars having their own class is wonderful. I'd wager we will get more through DLC/Festival Playlist, as well as UTVs.

Talking about car divisions, this is also some interesting info. Since FH4, PlayGround games started to put the Forza Edition variant of a car in a different car division than the original car. Well it seems with FH5 they even turned that up a notch! 😀 Out of a total of 18 FE cars, 16 of those end up in a different car class compared to the original car. I’ve coloured the most interesting ones in red. Only the AMG One and Sesto Elemento FE cars remain in the same division as the original car.

FH5 Preview Build has 526 cars in the car collect screen.

Add Lancia, Alfa, Abarth, Fiat. (17 Models) And that gets you to the 543 cars shown in previous builds.

This was taken from this video;

Notice how in the car collect screen, it shows how to obtain each car.

When hitting the Jaguar XJ220, it looks like the car is only obtainable through; Wheelspin, Season Events, Festival Playlist or Forzathon Shop. So the list of non-Autoshow cars (but still in game) are all Barn-Finds or Psuedo Exclusives.

Kind of off-topic for the thread, but that video also confirmed what PG said in one of the Let's Go! videos: driving with a wheel is MUCH better. The guy in the video even has the same Logitech model and the same letdowns with FH4 that I had, and if it's that much better to the point where it won over a skeptic, I'm even more psyched.

Also the collection feature is pretty cool, but if it spoils barn finds I might steer clear of it for a bit.

So the XJR will be a barn find. Good. That'd mean it'd take some progress to get... and what's more, getting it doesn't depend on dumb luck.

I'll be analyzing the autoshow and will try to identify any possible wheelspin-exclusive/hard-to-find/barn find/reward cars, or basically what's not in the autoshow as of now. Here's what I got so far:
Looking over this list, I've tried my hand a predicting the barn finds

  2. 1968 Dodge Dart Hemi Super Stock
  3. 1968 Ford Mustang GT 2+2 Fastback (highly likely)
