Awesome port job considering this is running on an engine that has never run on Playstation hardware before.

I'm pretty close to buying it a second time since I have a PRO.

Love Horizon and 5 is my favorite.

I told myself I wouldn't double dip but it's getting really hard to resist, even on my sad old fat launch PS5.
A good thing they didn't port 4 - that would've been an instant purchase as the best of the series.

The hardware is so similar these days that it's hardly an obstacle to porting something over.

I will wait for the Realms update and see how that plays out. If I feel like Realms might make me drop another 50+ hours I'll get the PS5 version.

The digital foundry guys seem impressed - but what do they know ;)

The install with the dlc is monstrous nearly 170gig, im filled with anticipation for friday morning. Ive rinsed motorfest to death so this will be a welcome distraction I hope.

I have pre-ordered thus but I should've asked this sooner... is this game super fomo grindy or is it more relaxed on that?
Cars and in-game currency (credits) are frequently gifted through wheelspins (regular and super). You may receive cars gifted by other players, and the weekly playlists, where you earn rare cars and credits and clothes, etc. can be finished in about 2 hours.

Thank goodness! That definitely works for me.

I've always wanted one of the FH games on Playstation and I really enjoyed and still enjoy FH4 on my Steam Deck so I will definitely pick this up eventually.

No way am I paying £55 for a digital game only though, I'll either wait for a good sale or even better hopefully they release a disc copy although I highly doubt it.

I enjoyed FH3 & FH4. Awesome games. I just couldn’t see myself buying another XB console and I’ve not got a pc. Think I’d prefer more city areas that the previous games provided, but the cars in FH5, could rope me in. Something else to play while waiting for a GT7 update. ;)

I laughed when I heared of the 60fps performance and 30fps quality mode. Is it really like this in PS5 Pro? Microsoft locking the framerates to not reveal the superiority of the rival console? 😂

Ive watched the numerous YouTube videos of the Forza game & i really do want to like it, But ! .........in chase view, it just does not do it for me, Its the way the car moves, its as if the beautiful terrain around it is moving super fast & smooth, but the car itself often looks like its just spinning on an underside central pivot, like someone had stuck a pencil in a hole in the underside & were spinning it in response to the passing terrain The open space seems much better, but on a full-on track/road race for me seems very Arcade-like ..........i`ll keep trying

It doesn't even look like the 30fps mode has meaningfully better image quality or foliage density than the 60fps mode on the Pro. The biggest thing is that the player car reflections are ray-traced, and quite frankly, its hard to notice anyway.

Many games are going this route.
I always pick higher frames.
And some fail to even deliver then.

And for some I fear they wont even try to improve (looking at you, Path of Exile 2 Beta).

I understand that in a much more arcade game it is less important but this defect that Digital Foundry indicates surprises me in a current engine and would significantly affect competitive play:

"The game's car physics also seem to differ slightly depending on the mode. If you let the game run out of a cutscene with zero controller input, the car rolls further in quality mode than it does in performance mode, perhaps due to the differing frame-rates. This also appears to be the case on Xbox consoles, so it's not a new quirk on PS5 machines."

Is it very noticeable?

Well it is more on the arcade side of things than the sim side. The videos don't always give the best impression, it's much better hands on.

For anyone who has jumped aboard, how is the Dualsense implementation, especially the haptics/triggers?

perhaps due to the differing frame-rates.
wouldnt be the first game.

A game worth mentioning would be Dark Souls 1, where framerate equals frames of the weapon hitting an object, means lesser framerate means lesser durability loss.

In DS 2 it was "fixed" but still broken in a different way. 🤣

60fps mode on pro has draw distance and foliage density as 30fps mode on xsx and base ps5 so upgrade is solid. 30fps on pro is pointless.
